vauxhall corsa sri - maf sensor 18 Aug 2012 (Forum)
now if you unplug the sensor it runs fine, and the only suggestion the garage has is to change the ecu, but i have read that it could be just a simple re earth of the sensor wire, however my garage are reluctant to do this in case they make things worse, but im not happy to pay out for a new ecu if it is just the earth wire, so any suggestions would be greatly appreciated, cheers -

Rover 618 (T reg) - Stupidly inserted red key in ignition 24 Apr 2010 (Forum)
I know now that because i decided to use the red key that i have totally wiped out the memory of the black keys in the ECU. Is this correct? I had an autolocksmith come out and look at it yesterday but he said the immobiliser is reading the black key. I have since been informed that the black keys need to be reprogrammed to the ECU, how do i now get this done? -
Ford Mondeo II (1996 - 2000) - 00 2.5 Alternator problem - need advice ASAP 9 Jul 2009 (Forum)
My mate is at a bit of a loss as he thinks it unlikely that he'd get two faulty alternators in a row! Any tips on what is the likely problem? The sparky is on holiday but has suggested a possible ECU fault if it is sending the wrong signals for charg e levels but it's flickering several times a second, I'm not sure even a faulty ECU could send such rapid signals? Any help appreciated! -
Vauxhall Astra G Petrol (1998 - 2004) - 02 1.6 Car cutting out (recurrent fault) 10 Jan 2009 (Forum)
Unfortunately, the same issue has started to happen again, and I am 100% sure it is the EGR vavle again. The mechanic at Vauxhall mentioned that it could be an issue with my ECU that was causing the EGR valve to fail. My question is whether it is feasible for the ECU to cause the EGR valve to fail over time? Any help on getting to the root cause of this issue is much appreciated, as this is becoming a very frustrating problem. -
Citroen Xsara Picasso (2000 - 2010) - 02 2.0 HDi Engine Fault - knocking/jerking 23 Dec 2008 (Forum)
The ECU light isn't on yet but I don't reckon it'll take more than another 20 miles before it does. Obviously the fuel rail pressure sensor was not at fault, or something is causing the fuel rail pressure sensor to prematurely die. -
Ford Escort (1993 - 2000) - 1995 1.4 PTE SEFI erratic misfire when warm 10 Aug 2008 (Forum)
Various mechanics have looked at it, changed the plugs and leads etc, checked electrics, all to no avail. It is now suggested that the ECU may be at fault and should be replaced, if this is done will the new unit require reprogramming to the car by a dealer, I am told that the coil unit will have to be replaced as well as part of the ECU system. -
Peugeot 306 (1993 - 2001) - 1998 1.4 Speedometer and rev counter at maximum 19 Jun 2008 (Forum)
When I turn the key on, the speedometer and rev counter dials rortate clockwise to maximum (with the engine off) I just tried driving the car to see if that would reset things but noticed that the trip meter was advancing at a very high rate and, after about 2 miles noticed that about 25000 miles has been added to my odometer reading. I'm suspected that the ECU has ""glitched", so disconneted the power again for abouit a minute and re-connected. The problem remained Can anyone advise on this fault and also advise if, assuming the ECU is faulty, will the odometer reading as of earlier today on be stored somewhere so it can be reset to the corect value when this problem is cured, or am I now stuck with a very high (false) ododmeter reading) (which will kepp increasing a high rate until the problme is cured.
