peugeot 306 hdi - fuel pump primery curcuit 6 Mar 2011 (Forum)
i have just bought a peugeot 306 hdi, after having it about a month the engine manegment light came on and the car cut out, i thought it was the diesel because it was very low so i put some in and it still would not start, i had it put on a diagnostic computer and the code was po230 fuel pump primery curcuit, he cleared the code and the car run for about 1 hour so i was told to change the fuel pump relay which made no differance at all so i tryed a fuel pump (the one in the tank) but still no joy, now the car will only start for about five seconds before it cuts out but some times it will tick over for a while but when i try to rev it it cuts out and plus it would only rev to 2500 rpm and when i switch it off with the key it over runs for about 4 second. i hope some one can help as i dont know what to do next. thanks -
Mazda Mazda 6 (2008 -) - 08 2.0d erratic fuel consumption 28 Apr 2009 (Forum)
I have had a 2008 Mazda 6 diesel for a year. The fuel consumption in general is very good until the car decides to rev higher than normal. I keep the computer set for average fuel consumption because of the infuriating problem the car has. -
Hyundai Santa Fe 2.0 Diesel 2004/5 - Intermittent Fault - black smoke and loss of power 20 Aug 2015 (Forum)
Garage said new diagnostics test showed "No Faults". They suggested perhaps a problem with dirt in the fuel (diesel, by the way). This weekend, I changed the air filter and the fuel filter under the bonnet and, although I did a 100 mile round trip on the motorway yesterday with no problem, today the problem has reared its ugly head once again. -
Volkswagen Golf V (2004 - 2008) - Gazole - Yes or No? 17 May 2008 (Forum)
m about to go on holiday to France again and was going to fill up with Gazole while I was out there, BUT when I filled up at my local station yesterday I noticed (for the first time!) that on the fuel filler-flap it states that I should NOT use Bio-diesel or Gazole. I?m now confused as to whether I can or can?t use it, I have a VW Golf 2.0 TDI (2006) which I thought would have been setup to accept this kind of fuel. -
VW Polo alarming diesel knock 10 Jul 2006 (Forum)
Hi, I've a real puzzler with my 1998 Polo diesel. It has a 1.9D AEF engine with a Lucas mechanical pump with accelerator cable that has now covered 105k miles. The starting symptoms which are rapidly getting worse are:- when the engine turns over there is an alarming knocking sound and the whole engine rocks violently. -

Any - Next car - undecided between petrol or diesel 23 Jan 2012 (Forum)
6-7 miles on main A road then 7-8 miles of B roads with roundabouts every 2 miles or so I do a trip to Birmingham and back (total 450 miles) once a month, and a trip to Bradford and back (total 250 miles) also once a month. I realise the potential downfalls of diesels and have to take those into consideration. Based on current fuel prices I would save around 2k a year on fuel with diesel. I am looking at DPF free models as don't really want to fork out 1k at around 100k (will be buying 2nd hand with around 60-80k on the clock) I've had a few problems with my mazda 6 so want to move to a Jap brand with minimal/no European influence as reliability is incredibly important. -
Toyota Yaris - New diesel Yaris worth a punt? 4 Apr 2013 (Forum)
I had no plans to sell the Skoda and assumed I'd only get few hundred pounds given mileage. Does anyone have direct experience of the diesel yaris? If so is it worth snapping up and sacrificing the Skoda? I've read mixed comments on the fuel economy of the yaris and equally on the wisdom of investing in modern small diesels. I cover around 20k year, motorway and town driving. -
Any - LPG or Diesel 30 Jan 2013 (Forum)
So my question is are those cars I mentioned actually suitable for LPG systems, as I heard not all makes and models are. Is anyone aware of LPG issues like the DPF's in diesels? and finally is it not just worth the risk on either Diesel or LPG and stick to petrol and take the hit on extra fuel costs but less garage repair bills. Any advise appreciated, thank you -

Car is in for an MOT. It failed last year on the emission test. Used Dipetane since then, Forte Diesel Cleaner in with new fuel filter when serviced. Also sprayed EGR cleaner into intake. My annual mileage is around 1000 miles so not ideal but shame to sc***. Searching on the internet I came across a chart that for vehicles before 2008 turbo are tested as per plate if present or 3.0m-1 if lower. -
Diesel benefits for low mileage user 26 Jan 2018 (Forum)
She previously ran a 1.4 petrol 500x. My point is there are a lot of people who say you must do 20k for a diesel. I disagree my wife does around 8000 miles a year mixture of school run and a weekly run of 60 mile journey. Her average mpg in the fiat was 31.2 she is now averaging 52.2. That is a huge saving in fuel, (she is paying &20 instead of &140 in tax and the car works out at no more a month for her. -
Ford Mondeo Estate or Vauxhall Vectra - Diesel Estate which one? 3 Mar 2014 (Forum)
I do in the region of 22000 miles per year of which there is quite a few towing miles. I think I can save around £700 to £1000 in fuel per year, if I get a diesel estate. I have got it down to 2 and it is either a Mondeo or Vectra. My budget is somewhere between £1500/£2000 which has me looking at a 2005/2004 model. -
Mazda 6 2008 - Diesel Run-away - Air intake cut off 26 Oct 2013 (Forum)
Hi Everyone, have not been on here for a while! I was just wondering that if a car, such as the Mazda 6 diesel 2008 2.0tdi was to run-away on its own fuel, by turning off the ignition - would it cause the run-away to stop? My main reason for asking specifically about this car, is that i need to know if it has an air intake valve which shuts off when the ignition is off....knowing one of the ways to stop an engine run-away is to starve it of air. -
Which diesel car? 20 May 2008 (Forum)
Image not imporant, but no Micra, no French cars. The car needs to be reliable. Any opinions. Thinking of the following diesels VW Polo 1.4, Skoda Fabia 1.4 , Toyota Yaris 1.4, Mitsubishi Colt 1.5. Any thoughts? {slight tweek to subject line so as not to confuse buying a car with all the recent fuel related threads kicking about} -
Diesel load v additives 2 Oct 2007 (Forum)
Having had the use of diesel cars, trucks, farm tractors, and marine engines, in my experience the operators / engineers invariably say that the engines run smoother after a full load run when they have been lightly loaded for a period. -
Yaris Diesel Engine Light 4 Jul 2007 (Forum)
Could the oxygen sensor be damaged by using additives such as Redxx? We might have put too much in the fuel. Normally we only put 1/3 of the bottle into a full tank of diesel. However, last week we put in 1/2 bottle. Any thoughts please? -
