  I  drive  and  a owned a VW tiguan tdi 140 bhp since 2008 ,37,000 miles on the clock  ,i am  a sunday driver ,but every so often worning lights come on in my car ,just now  there is a yellow light the shape of a engine is on ,also when switching of the engine it does not  switch of smoothly it judders ,it is a terrific car for the scottish damp and cold weather but i get fed up with these faults,can you advise on what next

    It is annoying and have had two good mechanics have a look and found nothing wrong. They can drive it and see/feel the problem but no sense otherwise. I have tried VAG-COM today to see if that picks up and problems but not in that area! Any ideas before I start spending proper money? Thx

  My reversing lights on my 1997 R REG Mk3 Astra Arctic 1.6 16v Automatic Don't work when I reverse after starting from cold But will start to work after driving a few miles any advice  is there a  reversing light switch on a 1997 Automtic Astra the above vehicle please advice
• peugeot 406 HDi (90bhp) 1999 - black smoke on revving 4 Nov 2011 (Forum)
  My car failed the MOT exhaust emissions test with a 4.70 reading.It should be below 3.0..As the MOT tester showed me there is a lot of black smoke on revving the car. I had not noticed this before as i drive conservatively keeping the engine revvs as low as possible. There are no other symptoms , the car starts and drrives OK. Could this be the EGR , i ask as i thought a faulty EGR would cause smoke at all speeds..Thanks

  This is something that can mean different things to people depending on your own situation,it could be at three years old or longer,or maybe when the warranty expires,or when it gets it first big bill or ding,for me i tend to move them on when i get to 100k on the clock which is silly considering i drive a diesel but its a subconscious thing,I could keep my car for another ten years but if we all did that what would happen?

  Can you arrive in the UK at Folkestone in a UK car, without tax or up to date MOT and get away with driving to a pre-booked MOT in Leeds? Without of course being fined and this ruining my Christmas when I plan to return to the UK in three months?! I didnt deliberately go overseas to avoid paying tax, etc. it was just that i left in july and my MOT was in September and so i missed it and thus couldnt get any road tax.

  changing my interior bulb last night the bulb slipped from my fingers and touched the metal baseplate,causing the fuse to blow,i have changed the fuse lights not working still,there is a 12v feed to the interior light at the fusebox but no power at the 2 pin plug that plugs into the back of the lights,fuse is ok so is the bulb,anyone have any ideas,i do lots of night driving so do need it working

  The noise comes from cam belt end of the engine. Could  I safely run the engine for a few minutes without the drive belt for the alternator & aircon pump to deduce if noise comes from either of these items.?

  I have just bought a corsa c 1.2 sxi.All seems well at first when engine is just tickin over but when i slowly start to push the accelerator the revs start to wave up and down. then when i increase revs further to around 3000 and hold it still it carries on revving??.Acceleration when driving feels sluggish then the next minute it seems ok. Please can someone help me with this.?? Cheers

  The gearbox on my wife's 2002 Jazz auto (CVT) with 32k miles has started 'hunting' .  Driving at a steady 30 or so, it slows down, then picks back up as though it is changing down a gear, then back up.  The gearbox oil has recently been topped up with the correct fluid (it was very low, apparently).

  For a fairly fast and quiet family car I am truly astounded. My old Volvo V50 2.0D with 42,000 miles struggled to reach 44 mpg with the same driving style. Just hope it lasts the pace.
• Renault Megane - smoking engine 1 Feb 2011 (Forum)
  It is worse at start up and is less when the engine is hot, it is white smoke and smells more of diesel than engine oil. The car drives well but is not 100% smooth. Can you throw any light on this issue please, i would not expect an engine with only 68000 miles to be blowing oil out at all. my logic tells me it is unburnt fuel for whatever reason. hope to here from you soon many thanks

  There a big ball joint in the centre that clicks in a treat but how on earth do you connect the two small ball joints connecting the motor drives to the glass backing plate? You cant get at them and when any pressure is applied they just click and retreat back into the housing without engaging in the socket. Many thanks

  I've read the honest john review about the Mk IV mondeo and there is specific feedback stating "do not drive through floods due to the low air intake". Why so specific........ compare to other diesels I'm currently looking at getting a titanium x sport. Is this a major problem with this this car? A lot of back roads tend to flood where I live and  I don't fancy having to watch out every time it rains.

  Dear all, Having just purchsed Mitsubishi Montero Left hand drive second hand, unfortunately it did not come with Owners manual! Question is What is the preferred car battery for this model as it has a smaller car battery in at the moment, which is a little under powered probably for the process of starting the car.
• Peugeot 306 Dturbo - Heater fan only works on positions 1&2 5 Jan 2011 (Forum)
  The blower then worked only on position 1 & 2 but as it was summer it wasn't that miuch of a big deal. Now the winter is here the blower hasn't got the oomph to demist the windscreen whilst driving at motorway speeds in arctic conditions!!!! Any ideas??? Many thanks

  Hello all, Just notice that when i depress brake pedal with engine off, pedal does hissing sound and also when i am driving and come to any sort of stopping, head lights go deem and engine sounds like it is going to conk out for a second or two then goes back to normal. Any advise would be greatly appreciated. Its a ford focus 03 plate.

  A question about my sons T reg Clio 1.2 with 85000 miles on the speedo. Driving at over 40 mph it is difficult to steer the car in a straight line especially when the road surface is uneven. He has just had two new front tyres fitted but not cured the problem. Going to get garage advice once they open after Christmas but I think there is/are worn ball joint(s).

  Hi, my bmw diesel 2003, 92,000 miles has started to smoke excessively when I start it or on idle eg left running for a few minutes, I started it yesterday under the car porch and within 5 minutes it was unbearable and filled the house with smoke! it doesn't smoke once it's warmed up or driving at normal speeds, has anyone got any ideas what it could be?
