• Volkswagen Golf V (2004 - 2008) - 2.0 TDi - Turbo Problems 17 May 2016 (Forum)
  Twice in the last 2 weeks the turbo on my 2.0 TDI Golf has shut down while driving. To reset it I have to stop, switch the engine off and then back on again. I took it to the dealer who tells me I need a new Turbo that will cost around 2 grand. The car has only done 49,000 miles and is two months out of warentee.
• 08 Combo Van - Steering 'Clonk' Noise 2 Apr 2016 (Forum)
   I get a 'clonk' noise from the steering as I rock the steering wheel.  This happen when driving and also when stationary.  I don't think it's the rack or the track rod ends.  It seems to be coming from the steering column universal joints.  I'm not sure it is serious as it went through the last MOT like this.

• Bmw 3 series 320i Modern - Bmw window won't close 6 Mar 2016 (Forum)
  Passenger window opened partly then stopped and would not shut. Opened it fully and still would not shut. Had to drive 130 miles home with window wide open! A neighbour who is a mechanic said they can sometimes be 'reset' by holding the button up/down for a while. He tried this and suddenly the window closed. He wasn't certain he had fixed it so l haven't dared try it since.

  Can detect fumes in cabin when driving, suspect injector leak via packer gasket block. .? Cars done 52 k miles is it worth spending £500 or should we part ex and get a new petrol engine replacement. Same problem we had with previous Fiesta 1.4TDC, we've also had grief with fuel pipe leaks.

  I am driving to Italy next month on a skiing holiday and obviously I will need snow chains. However, my Jetta TDI Sport has 17J alloys with 225 - 45- 17 tyres. According to my handbook my wheel size is unsuitable for chains.

  Hi all, I may have killed my car.... Put in some oil, not crazy amount but enough... Was driving, and it started revving like crazy with lots of smoke! Managed to stop and all lights on dash. It now will try and start but not turn over... Garage have mentioned dpf and rocker.... Anyone know if this is fixable or if I am in mega trouble just before Christmas!!

  I'm just smelling it at different times – Mostly when I start the car or drive uphill. Any suggestions what the problem may be? I'm afraid that it could be a problem with the head gasket. How do I find out whether I'm right? Thx guys

  Should I go for a petrol or diesel? Should I go for manual or auto, I would like an auto as most of my driving is short journeys. Is there anything I should look out for when buying? My wife says I definitely need parking sensors. Thanks for any help.

  hi ,i have a xtype diesel 2.0 55 plate 90k its got a tappet sound when you acelerate ,its sound like a diesel knock but the car drives fine a bit of black smoke if i boot it but goes really well ,there are no lights on so im struggling,i think it maybe an injector or the diesel pump is worn ,any ideas ,thanks ray.
• Winter Tyres - Premium vs Mid? 23 Oct 2015 (Forum)
   I can get a set of Michelins (or premium equivalent) for around £120 each whereas a set of Vredesteins or Falkens are around £90 each.  I believe that both of these are reputable but am bearing in mind I drive a RWD so need to cater for that if we get any of the white stuff. I've no problem paying for stuff if it's worth it but what's the general view on this? Are the premiums worth the premium?

  While I was in the house yesterday my 64 plate Leon ran down the drive and smashed into the wall despite the handbrake being on.I have parked cars like this for 20 years without incident.There is extensive scraping to the bumper and the drivers side headlight has what looks like a stone chip as well as extensive scraping and I assume it will have to be replaced.Seat are quoting £702 for a new one.Does anyone know of any suppliers who might be a bit more reasonable?

  Has anyone else noticed that these days nearly all the cars are smart and seem to be lucky to see anything older than ten years old where as when i started driving in the mid nineties you would see cars with odd wings/ doors grey primer and oxide red paint around the wheel arches with thick black underseal along the sills i suppose the scrappage scheme killed a lot of and these days anyone seems to be able to get a car on finance

  Hi when driving my car today the battery light has appeared on my dashboard followed by the handbrake light (the handbrake is off obviously!), then the odometer was reading ----, then the speedometer wouldnt move past zero and my indicators stopped working. the heated windscreen light also came on and despite pressing it several times it would not go off. the radio and hazard lights are working fine. any ideas of what is causing these issues   cheers

  I also have a 2007 2.0 Zetec Diesel S-Max and that does 45 mpg and it's a much bigger car. The fiesta is not thrashed and has a mix of dual carriageway and town driving typically, and probably 5% of the miles are motorway. The A/C is on more often than not. Does it sound thirsty to you or roughly to be expected?

    I have read on some forums that this is a common fault in Fiat Pandas and maybe there has been a recall.  Is it still safe to drive the car although the stearing is heavy without the power steering on?   Please advise Annette
• Renault Clio II - Stop & battery light flickering on 24 Feb 2015 (Forum)
  Whilst driving my clio at night the stop light and battery light flickers on and off, its sometimes that quick that if you blink you miss it. its also doing it during the day but not so noticable.  I have taken off all the earth to body & body to engine cables and cleaned them thoroughly. also ther area that they bolt to as well as the battery terminals. therefore I am now confused as to what is causing the lights to flicker.

  I've googled them and I see articles have been done on them in honest john and the telegraph but these are both quite old.Most reviews on forums are quite old too.   when driving especially below 3000 revs when holding a speed a rattle appears like a football claxton type thing as if something is catching something as it spins but accelerate and the noise stops,decrease power and the noise stops until you hold a constant speed again,very annoying, I can't mimic this when not moving and revving engine.

  Afternoon,    Any advice would be appreciated please and please do not think so bad of us. My husband got stopped in June 2014 whilst driving a SORN vehicle (he was taking it to the garage), will this has invalidated the insurance?  Obviously there was no tax or MOT on it, we received a fine which we paid but is there still a chance of us having to go to court for no insurance.
