    I have just received a text message that shouts out "SCAM" from the moment it was received. Coming from mobile number +447398230835 Narrative: "DVLA: We have recalculated your vehicle tax. You are owed £48.84 due to overpayment, visit https://dvlaroadtaxrebate.co to claim your refund now" My only comment "not on your Nellie" Message now deleted, sender's number blocked.

Among the dozen Dearly Beloveds and Gracious One's received today is one from llyods bank (Dear Lord) requiring me to sign in to an account i don't have.

    New scam reported in top gear Guy gets paid to reposes a car by finance company Swaps the alloys for steel wheels Rips out the stereo Pours oil over the engine Messes with HT leads to cause a misfire Puts car through auction He buys the car himself, or gets a friend to do so Takes it home Steam cleans engine Puts HT leads back Replaces wheels/stereo And sells it on at a nice big profit Finance company don’t care Looser is person car was reposed from as price made at auction is taken from his final bill

    They said his insurance is invalid as his licence was revoked On Sept 1st (we had no notification of this) He sent his licence off in August for points to put on But at same time had to change some details on the licence When posting licence we sent to Dvla Swansea using change of details postcode DVLA reckon they never received letter (we believe it's there but sitting In wrong department) Anyway his car was seized and we have had to now apply For a new licence at a cost if £50 for revoked licence My question is shouldn't we have been notified his licence was being Revoked, and if it's revoked shouldn't he have got done for Driving with no licence?     Does anyone know of any incidences of the following MOT scam ? There has been a lot of fake MOT certificate scams. For any given vehicle a MOT certificate is being issued that may be fake, whereby either the fake MOT certificate has been issued but no MOT has actually been done or the MOT certificate has been obtained or photocopied and false information entered.

    Our local garage has been involved in a scam where goods and petrol bought on a credit card have been csimmed and the details and pin numbers have been passed on.Guildford police think that more than 400 people have been effected.More may come to light as people get their statements.Ilost £600 until my credit card company realised something was wrong.So if you have used a garage in the Guildford area recently ie 6-8 weeks ago till now police would like to hear from you.Ican give details of the offending garage if the moderators will allow. -- rustbucket (the original)
