  • Vauxhall Insignia CDTI - DMF on Insignia - Vauxhall wont reply!! 6 Sep 2016 (Forum)
I feel that a DMF failure at 40k is not really good enough - the car is immaculate inside and out and has never been spared a penny. My wife will attest that the car gets more love and care then she does. Wrong I know, but that is just how it is.

  • Any - Seeking reliable modern-ish diesel 3 Apr 2013 (Forum)
Sooo, I'm looking for a diesel without DPF, and ideally with a chain cam drive and no DMF.  Something with reasonable grunt to replace the Leon which had 150hp standard and 175 after remapping. Is there any modern-ish diesel out there which doesn't have the DPF/DMF/cambelt hassles AND has proven to be reasonably reliable?
  • VW Golf Mk4 2003 150pd - dual mass flywheel 7 Oct 2010 (Forum)
Have had the car virtually since new and experienced no reparis or replacements beyond routine 10k maintenance. My independent garage tell me that the DMF is beginning to go and may need replacing at some point in the future - to be fair they are not pushing me to have it done but have advised a wait and see. What symptoms should I notice if the DMF is on its way out?
  • Vauxhall Combo kombi (2002 - ) - 07 1.3D Clutch 12 Mar 2009 (Forum)
Our Combi 1.3D is becoming increasingly difficult to get into gear and at times suffers from clutch slip, so i guess its due for a new clutch but what i want to know is, is this van fitted with a DMF or not ? Also, any idea what an idie is likely to charge to do the job, our 06 Astravan had a new clutch at the Dealers last month and it cost us over a grand (no DMF on this), which i thought was excessive !
  • Mitsubishi Outlander-Could it be a failed DMF on? 24 May 2020 (Forum)
I see where they are coming from with the refurbish the gearbox approach, but I have found out the following. It DOES have a DMF, the part is listed on the LUK website, along with a description of how a DMF differs in a dual clutch car. I've spoken to some Lancer EVO specialists (these share the same gearbox, but have solid flywheels) and they think it's highly unlikely that a 156bhp Outlander has killed the clutches in gearbox rated to take 400bhp & 400lb/ft.
  • Skoda Superb - DMF Failing....2.0 TDI 1 Sep 2010 (Forum)
I phoned the dealer staright away who is going to get their master tech to call me in the morning, Although I was told he had looked at it today and is rarely wrong!!! My feeling is that after a bit of research its the DMF, I havent had the vibration but I do find the gearbox is quite stuborn and doesnt like to be rushed. Whats your advice ready for the morning? Do you think its the DMF to? I feel so disheartened with it now etc Im seriously thinking about asking for a refund ive only put about 500 miles on it.
  • Pug 3008 2011 - 14 - Buying advice, 4 Sep 2018 (Forum)
I've heard both good and bad stories about the auto boxes and i'm still a little wary of the automated manual boxes and the DMF/clutch, I still prefer the fluid flywheel arrangement. Is there anything I should be looking for on these and are the DMF's a problem on these?
  • Tyre pressure sensors.The new dpf /dmf ? 17 Feb 2017 (Forum)

  • Mitsubishi Outlander - Could it be a failed DMF on a SST (Dual Clutch)?? 20 Nov 2020 (Forum)
    2) Let the local garage take it to bits - likely to be £500 parts & £500 labour - to replace the DMF - they won't be able to tell whilst it's in bits if the gearbox is knackered, and obviously can only check the DMF once it's apart, so as with the oil, this could be a waste of time, but £1000!
  • Dual Mass Flywheel Problems - RAV 4 25 Jun 2007 (Forum)
I would appreciate if someone could tell me if DMF`s were introduced specifically to cope with the increased torque outputs of modern diesel engines, or are they also now fitted to petrol units. I ask because I am considering buying a 2005/2006 (old model) 2.0 litre petrol RAV 4, and have been reading of problems that RAV`s have been experiencing with premature DMF failure.
  • 53/04 Ford mondeo tdci 130 zetec s - Starting Issues 8 Jun 2015 (Forum)
For a couple of days it was starting normally but this has now got a lot worse to the point it's taking 8 or 9 tries before it starts. The car currently has 130k on the clock. The DMF was done at about 90k. I can't remember if the starter motor  was changed when the dmf was done. Any thoughts on what may be the problem. Thanks.
  • Audi A1 - Flywheel and clutch damage 25 Jun 2012 (Forum)
Dear All I've sadly fallen victim to dual mass flywheel issues on my 9 month old Audi A1.  I've lookeda round the internet and have discovered that DMF have been troublesome for all amnner of cars and warranties are not lived up to as the retailers blame it on driving style.  I read on this website that the difference in wear can be visible on a damaged clutch and flywheel between DMF being faulty and riding the clutch.
  • Vauxhall Insignia - Weak Clutch? 14 Feb 2011 (Forum)
My Insignia covered only 3,800 miles before the clutch and DMF failed.  Bill for £1680.  Anyone else with this problem on low mileage Insignias? Why the Insignia was awarded the 2009 "Car of the Year Award"? The more I read about VX faulty DMFs and clutches, the more I despair.
  • Peugeot 107 1.0 Petrol - Clutch knocking noise 10 Mar 2021 (Forum)
Also goes away if clutch is released to the point where is just bites. It is loudest when the pedal is fully depressed. Sounds like a failing DMF but this car doesn't have a DMF. Seems much too loud to be a release bearing...
  • Ford Mondeo - 03 Reg 2.0 TDCi 65k Miles - DMF issue, I pay 50%?? 25 Sep 2010 (Forum)
I contacted the dealer who said he'd look at it but said it's very unlikely theres anything wrong with the DMF. At the dealership, he took it for a drive and flatly denied it to be a DMF issue, even though the horrible spanners under the bonnet issue arose on two occasions. He had a quiet word with his service manager who advised to have an update to the ECU which should solve the problem and that it should be booked into Benfield Ford down the road to have this (which would've taken over a week to arrange!).
