  Had new clutch, flywheel etc fitted about 5 months ago. Car goes fine for up to 1000 miles. Then will not change gear at all with engine running. Turn engine off, leave between 10 mins and 24hours, car works fine. replaced pipe, master cylinder. Master cylinder 4 weeks ago. has been fine. just failed again. any ideas

  Hi everyone, this is my first post and i hope someone will help, i have an astra 05 reg 1.7 cdti. the problem is that this car was running spot on before i parked it up last week and it never started again. on the fuel filter are two pipes one saying in and the other one out. when you turn the ignition on is there suposed to be diesel coming out of these pipes?

  Hi, I have a petrol primera with 150k miles. It continues to run very well except for a power dip of some sort around 3750 rpm. When accelerating in say 3rd gear, the car will accelerate smoothly up to this point, then the power seems to dip for a split second and then push on again past this point.

  Got a1.7 td escort. On a few occasions especilly after parked up with engine running or raining , the revs just go up as if you had your foot on the throttle full pelt. It chucks out a lot of smoke , it only last a few seconds. Any suggestions. Assume its a 97 reg from the R designation in the subject line - accordingly tweaked

  Hi I recently bought an 02 scenic 1.9 diesel, and it runs really well, except when I first start it up, it ticks over a few times before the engine actually kicks in. It always, always starts, but i am worried it is a prelimanary sign of something. Can anyone help.

  my partner and i run 3 older cars (88,89,91) and feel i ought to have some kind of basic break down cover not intrested in any home start or fancy ad ons , all i want is one policy that would cover both drivers and all cars in the event we break down away from home id like a service that will tow us home and not to a garage as i do all my own repairs /maintenence does such a service exist for sensible money?

  I am looking for a car but am on a budget of between £4,000 - 6,000. I would prefer a petrol car but need it to be economical so that I can keep the running costs low if possible. However, because I will be using the car regularly, I am also looking for something reliable. Can you recommend a reliable and economical car that falls into my budget? (However, I would consider recommendations outside my budget).

  I'm used to running cars where the service schedule advises renewal of fuel filters which have been the in-line type and reasonably accessible. We now have a Honda Jazz and 2 Fiat Pandas in the fleet with no mention of replacement of fuel filters in the service schedules and no sign of in-line fuel filters on the cars.

  The car as been to garage put on computer told sender at fault on exhaust on two different occasions had two fitted second time ford genuine part alright for a few days each time then light comes on, on motorway to satisfy myself had newcat fitted same result alright for few days i have done 8000 miles with this problem car runs great i have i to live with it help And the engine is ?

  My Diesel Accord, which has done about 53k miles has started making a puff of exhaust smoke on starting. It otherwise is running well (MPG over 50mpg of late - amazing compared to some reports) and I use Shell standard fuel. Oil level is fine. Should I wait until next service (several months away) or is this likely to merit early attention?

  When cold my Saxo (VTR) starts well enough but runs rough if I don't keep the revs high (above2500). Once the engine temperature starts to rise the fault goes away. When the engine is warm and I start the car there is no fault, it only seems to be from cold Can you help?

  Tried the vaccum line that controls the seat mechanism and there is no vaccum present with the ignition switched on or the engine running. I seem to remember that someone said that the seats only lock when the car is moving? Can any one shed any light on this?

  RoSPA recommend that motor cycles use daytime running lights. Even the 1999 version of the Highway Code recommends it. So why oh why do the motor cyclists in Lothian & Borders Police not even use their lights when it's foggy, teeming with rain, a bad light?

  hi I bought a yaris 55 plate Cat D last year it runs fantastic. Now that i want to sell the car i have noticed that the air bag light does not come on even when i bought it and am not sure what to do about it now. I want to make sure whoever buys it buys a safe car with everything working.

  my fuel consuption has dropped to 28 mpg,it starts fine but after driving for around 5 mins pull up at a set of lights and it missfires like mad ,it's been put on a code reader but comes up with no faults,it seems to run fine maybe a little loss of power but hardly noticeable,i have just had new heater plugs fitted but that was due to the engine management light appearing ,

  Whilst I continue to search what can happen should I get stopped for displaying the incorrect tax disc showing the now expired date of 12 07 even though the vehicle is actually taxed until 09? I have only just remembered that I'm running around displaying the old disc. Many thanks Steve
