• Audi A3 2.0 FSI - Strange sound at motorway speeds 7 Mar 2015 (Forum)
  I can hear a sound like a washing machine spinning when i drive at motorway speeds - or over 50mph. the higher the speed, the faster the spinning sound. It's not loud at all but noticeable all the same. It seems to be coming from the rear. Passed MOT in January, had CV Boot replaced on both sides and cambelt is due to be replaced soon. apart from that no problems.

    Its done 20,000 miles.  It has developed a clonking noise when the clutch takes up the drive and when changing gear.  I thought it was the DMF but the Toyota main dealer said it was the rear mid engine mounting  This was changed but the noise is unaltered.  Toyota is now saying that it is feature of the model - even though it was not present for the first couple of months.

  If you think you can park by roadside in centre of Cambridge on Sundays free, that has now changed. If you drive in the centre of the city, along one way streets, beware of pedal powered items coming towards you. Otherwise, it is a wonderful place to visit.

  just a curious question i would like to take a wee survey my car is 10 years old and it still runs ok but some people think oh its ten years old what do you expect ok how many people in thios forum have a ten year old car that goes ok blimey my moyorcycle is 33 years old and runs ok i will be interesting to see how many people on here drive older cars

  62,000 miles fine,no problems.smoke on excelleration.remedy,just had " Teraclean " treatment to engine . result no more smoke.very reliable car . regular servicing and a bit of high speed driving to clean the system seems to keep it running ok . would recomend one to anyone. dave dl
• Peugeot 308 - Timing chain problem 23 Dec 2014 (Forum)
  As a precaution my local garage have done a code test, and apparently it is to do with the timing chain, which needs replacing. If I continue to drive the car it could wreck the engine. I know the repair costs are not cheap. How come the warning message did not say "Timing chain problem"' or similar? Is the depollution system faulty message meaning the timing chain is fault?

There's a couple of small imperfections with the paintwork, but nothing I couldn't live with. Interior is in decent condition. FSH and seller seems perfectly reasonable.

  before buying a CLC i tried about 10 of these cars, diesel, petrol, sport etc. and eventually went for a CLC200 Kompressor 2011 reg. which i'm delighted with. when test driving all cars had steering which pulled to left. various MB dealers said it was a known detail and was to do with "high speed" steering accuracy or some such bull...t. whatever the truth every car had this ?

  Got a noise which at 1st i thought something was stuck in the wheel, like a clicking/cluncking noise but the noise goes when clutch is pressed in. No vibration and still drives ok. I've had a look about on the forum and found nothing that matches. Closest i got was clutch falling apart but i'm getting no vibration and all the gears of great as useunal. Thankyou all in advance for any help
• Renault Kangoo 1.9D - Very Lumpy At Low Revs 30 Jul 2014 (Forum)
  I've just bought a Kangoo as a stopgap runabout and although it drives fine at speed it is very lumpy on idle. It doesn't smoke but feels like the engine is trying to jump out of the car when at it's worst. I think it's probably seen off an engine mount or two because of this as well but does anyone know what would cause it?

  i have a Citroen Xantia Feb 1999 hdi....great car but it go's into limp mode on a run.....around town it is fine...but on a run it go's to 2000 revs after about a hours drive and that's it ... ...also the light on the dash comes on with a picture of an engine....if i stop and turn it off and restart its ok again. any ideas s

    I called the car delaers where I bought the Qashqai and explained that it needed to be fixed (I assume it's covered under the warranty?), but he said I had to bring it to their showrooms.  They are at least a 2 hour drive away.   Have any of you ever found yourselves in a similar situation?  If so, what did you do please?

  Anti skid light on -Garage checked checked - fault codes none relevant - on ramp found no drive to rear wheels  - transfer box and sleeve required. While we were deciding put in for MOT and passed. Any further ideas or what transfer box and sleeve will cost to supply and fit? Is it worth doing on 2005 car with 92000 mile?

  hi wen i drive my car after about 20 min it will just lose power then i will put my foot down again then it starts juddering and it keeps doing then till the next day i have changed the 02 sensers as i ad that code i done  coile pack mass air flow any ideas someone said it might b the cam an crank sensers

  hi guys and girls, whilst driving to work this am i noticed that when i change gear ( any gear ) the revs are not droping to there usual position, but this does not happen on every gear change only on a few occasions .its like im ridding the clutch when it happens if thats any help.
• Poly bushes, good or bad? 29 Mar 2014 (Forum)
  The original bushes were rubber incased in a metal body, because they have a softer material they act as a dampener. The poly ones feel harder at the rear when driving . Could they cause damage else where in the suspension? The only reason I fitted poly bushes is because ther are ten times easier to fit than the OEM ones.
• Ford Focus Saloon - Mileage and age 25 Feb 2014 (Forum)
  Although my driving and mileage is not suited to diesel a local, reputable garage has a 2010 Ford Focus 2.0 titanium auto with a genuine 5,000 miles on the clock.  Does this mean that engine etc is roughly equivalent to a 6 months old car or does the lack of use indicate there may be trouble ahead !

  Just got told my whilst driving that my reverse lights are stuck on. My dad's going to take a look, hopefully at the weekend, but I'm trying to get some advice/help before hand. Any idea what could be causing it? Where do we need to look to check the problem, and what do we need to do to fix it?
