Optimum rev range for petrol & diesels 9 May 2016 (Forum)
Eg; I generally keep within 2 & 3,000 rpm on my petrol Corsa (change up at about 2750-3000) and imagine this would be lower for a diesel. I would imagine driving TOO economically in terms of revs (ie constantly changing below 2000 in a petrol) would cause the engine to labour and have a negative effect? cheers -

Seat Ibiza sport 2006 - Difference between 1.4 ibiza sport and ibiza 1.2 10 Apr 2016 (Forum)
I was wondering if there was a slight difference between the body of the two? Would the bonnet and bumpers from the 1.2 fit my sport? I don’t want to drive 40 mins for it to be wrong. Thanks! :) -
Renault Scenic - scenic high idle 9 Mar 2016 (Forum)
I wonder if anybody could assist. I have a 52 reg 1.4l scenic. It has recently been idling at between 1500 and 2000 revs. Car drives fine until it heats up a little and I come to a stop. It then starts to rev up and down between 500 and 2000 revs. Its as though its gasping for air. Checked all pipes for leaks. Changed coils and coolant sensor but no joy. -

Vauxhall Insignia - Requirement to Identify The Driver 29 Jul 2015 (Forum)
It shows our car going through a red light in the city centre. We don't remember the incident and it could have been any one of two people driving at the time. We requested photographic evidence which arrived in the post today. It was a rear facing camera though and only shows the back of the car. No driver. Can anyone advise on the course of action I should take? -
best choice of headlights 5 Jul 2015 (Forum)
I have done a search and found no previous threads. Like some people I do not enjoy driving at night, so having the most effective headlights are especially important. I am also aware of the need to consider the effects on other drivers. The scientific description of the differences between xenon and halogen don't really mean much to me. -
Ford Fiesta Zetec 1.4 - 2003 - Sounds like a bearing has gone, but isn't? 24 May 2015 (Forum)
I don't think it's a bearing, I've had all 4 changed recently, but when the car gets to around 80mph, a whiring grumbling type noise kicks in, just like a noisy bearing sounds. Thing is, you can't drive through this noise, it gets worse more with more acceleration and then decreases without. Any ideas?? Thanks in advance. -
jaguar X-type 2wd - changing front strut on 2WD X-type 8 Apr 2015 (Forum)
To replace a front strut is it possible to loosen the pinch bolt and so separate the upper part with the spring from the lower part with the lower arm, driveshaft, track rod , stabiliser all still intact? It looks a straightforward way to get at the strut on my front drive model which (I believe) is based on the mondeo. Would it work? Any hints gratefully received. -
Any - Recommended insurer for teenage son's first car 17 Mar 2015 (Forum)
My teenage son is soon to take his driving test, and will be buying his first car (something like a 10-year-old Fiesta / Clio / Corsa etc). Anyone got any recommendations for which insurance firm to approach? My wife and I are both on Direct Line, but I can't imagine them offering a particularly good deal for a first-time driver ...
