KIA Carens 4 - 1.7 crdi [139] DCT - Carens with new gearbox? - ishpala

Hi,

Thinking of getting a new carens. Just wondered if anyone has driven these new models. One thing i noticed was that these 139hp ones have the 7 speed gearbox.

I am going for a test drive on friday but unfortunately the dealer only has the 6speed DCT. Will the 7 speed be more smooth, greater torque?

Any help highly appreciated

Before buying YOU need to drive it. Its the only way to ensure it meets your needs and matches your expectations.

But I cannot see why Kia would introduce a 6 and 7 speed DSG box in the same model.

Thanks skidpan.

i am assumming they are tryng to come in line with the euro 6 emissions standards. the pre july 2015 models are all euro 5 emissions. forgive me but i may be completly wrong, but i got the stats of the new carens from the p*rkers site, and i cannot see any reviews about the new model.

Have Kia facelifted/upgraded the current shape Carens already?

Don't think its been face lifted, just an gear box change to 7 speed (for auto's) and an engine tweek to give it 5 extra bhp (up from 134 to 139).

I test drove the 134 6 speed auto version, seemed smooth enough, not sure how the 7 speed will turn out. Wish there were some trade reviews on this model.

I wouldn't even think about buying a Kia or Hyundai with any form of automatic transmission. You will only get about 60% of the official MPG if you're lucky. Also these gearboxes are too new and reliability hasn't been proven.
