  • Elephant Racing 15 Aug 2018 (Forum)
Fortunately, I didn't need to exit the carriageway any time soon, but it certainly got me thinking what the hell I would have done if I had needed to. It's just as well an emergency vehicle wasn't behind me. Surely this kind of driving is illegal? At the least, it has to be inconsiderate.
  • Weather damage 29 Jul 2018 (Forum)
After a really heavy hailstorm, my sons girlfriends 66 plate i10 has a few little dents in the roof, obviously it doesn’t affect the driving of the car but it would be best if she had it repaired, can this be repaired using smart repairs, or would it be better for her to visit a body shop. Is this likely to be really expensive to fix, and require her to go through her insurance, I know no one can give exact costs but an idea of how much it is likely to be would be a start..
  • Ford Focus - Weak exhaust bracket 4 Apr 2018 (Forum)
All looks good except in the last service paper work it talks about a weak exhaust bracket. When driving over bumppy forecourt I could hear what I thought was knocking coming from rear. If this was the exhaust bracket how much to fix this. Any advice would be great.  Loved car but don't want to get stung by a large bill.
  • 2007 Mk5 Golf 2.0 GT TDI 140 - Recommendations for DMF replacement in Liverpool 25 Mar 2018 (Forum)
My car is an 07 plate Mk5 GT TDI 140 with a BKD engine. My DMF sounds like a brick in a washing machine! Drives great apart from the noise and engine wobble on tickover. Is a SMF the way to go?   Cheers guys.   ??
  • Mercedes A class 2003 - loan car 21 Mar 2018 (Forum)
All works except an auto adjusting mirror, it was never a car you'd have bought for performance but it makes progress reasonably, the driving position is high which i like. No rust anywhere and it must have had loads of different drivers, the interior is not worn and it shows that you can get an older car which will give good service with little depreciation too.
  • Any - Diesel cars 14 Dec 2017 (Forum)
Ok I suppose while in warranty But HJ today on the Landrover Discovery 'do not switch off but drive another 5 or 10 miles to regenerate the DPF and this is a newish car.  Sorry I am late home but I am just rejenerating and wasting my time and money trying to save the planet !
  • Standard Vanguard. - How many? 12 Dec 2017 (Forum)
The reference to Pick-up was strange as I often drove Standard Vanguard saloons during my National Service 1954-1957. They were not very nice to drive having soft suspension which gave a lot of wallowing and the 3-speed column change gearbox was a blighter until you got used to it. But officers transport it often was so it was obviously quite a decent motor.
  • Diesel Tc automatic with Street Cred 30 Nov 2017 (Forum)
My son will soon be after a replacement motor, he requires a diesel because of the milage he does and would also now like an automatic but a Torque Converter type...there appears to be no such cars in the VW group (would have liked the 1.9 pd engine) Has anyone any sugestions,he will have approx £2000 to spend, he would like something with a bit of street cred not something his Dad (me) would drive.... thanks in advance.
  • Used Plug In Hybrid 31 Oct 2017 (Forum)
I currently drive a Toyota Auris Sport Tourer Hybrid which is great but am considering buying a used plug in hybrid to replace it (I nevr buy new cars due to the depreciation). If i go down this route, i assume that i will be responsible for ensuring that i have a suitable means of charging the car, rather than the manufacturer doing it.

  • 2017 1.6 diesel - brand new seat toledo alignment issue ? 12 Oct 2017 (Forum)
It's not so much a pull but when the steering wheel is held bang on in the centre on a flat road or one without to big a camber, it will gradually start to drive to the right(drivers side). It doesnt happen right away it is a gradual thing like it is only slightly out does this sound like an alignment issue ?
  • Bentley Continental - Looking Good 21 Sep 2017 (Forum)
I saw 2 of the new model Bentley Continentals driving very responsible and politely down the A50 today. Not sure if they were being delivered but they had the usual Bentley plates ending in TU and I have to say they looked stunning. I only say this because I didn't like the look of any Bentley cars until I saw these today and having seen it in the press I still didn't like it but seeing them in the metal they looked great and are a credit to Bentley.

  • Estate car under £3000 27 Jun 2017 (Forum)
I am going to buy an estate car for under £3000. My requirements are petrol (drive less than 5000 miles a year) and automatic (dodgy knee). I dont know what to buy, a 10 year old Mondeo or similar or a 14 year old 5 series or Mercedes. What should I be looking for and importantly what should I be avoiding.

  • Mazda 2 or Suzuki Swift? 3 Mar 2017 (Forum)
Will be buying new to replace a Toyota Vios. Generally will be driven in and around Bangkok on the commute with the occasional long drive across Thailand. Which of these two would you choose and why? Is one better built than the other? Will probably keep it a few years. It will have to be an auto. Thanks in advance! Link deleted.
  • Overtaking HGV's through Roundabouts. 24 Dec 2016 (Forum)
Thinking of the roundabouts along the  A43 from M1 to M40 and also A31 from M27 to Ferndown as very good examples of this driving style. Even a well driven artic trailer cuts slightly through centre of roundabout as it proceeds through. Who would be considered blameworthy if a collision occured under these circumstances?
  • Police Winter Car Check 15 Dec 2016 (Forum)
I was breathalysed as well (I was clear) on the pretext that I had not gone in the direction I was waved (it was dark, it was raining and the policeman was walking diagonally when he waved at me (he was not in the area covered by the headlights).  I was asked for driving licence, name dob, address, occupation, place of work. THe guy doing it might be politely described as brusque. Is this not all a bit OTT?
  • Peugeot 407 2.0 hdi - Peugeot 407 2.0 hdi depollution system fault 26 Sep 2016 (Forum)
The depollution system faulty and engine light comes up on my Peugeot 407, also there is a slight fluctuation in boost pickup, seems like wastegate opens and closes, it has been diagnosed and had 2 new boost solenoids fitted but there is no change. Does anyone have any ideas ? Boost is good after initial fluctuations and drives fine overall.
