Bleeding diesel 26 Aug 2001 (Forum)
In the handbook for my Vectra 2.0DTi it gives instructions for restarting the car if the tank has become completely empty. For the X1.7DT diesel engine it goes on to say it can be restarted by automatically bleeding the fuel system by use of the starter motor. For the X20 DTL engine however it says. "Never let tank become empty!!" "On account of the very high injection pressure a complicated procedure is required to bleed the system, this must be carried out by a Vauxhall Dealership". -
Peugeot 406 (1999 - 2004) - 01 2.0 HDI 110 - P0190 AP Fault 21 Feb 2009 (Forum)
This is all assuming the problem is related to the change of fuel tank. I'm reluctant to keep it too full of diesel because the reason I needed a new tank was that someone tried to drain off the diesel by making a hole in the bottom of the old tank. VIN number is VF38BRHZF81410209. -

Merc A class CDI 1.8 (2013) - Noisy Engine 1 Jun 2018 (Forum)
I have just purchased a 2013 Merc A class 1.8 CDI with 30,000 and full Merc service history. Car drives great but I find the engine noisy for a diesel. It doesnt sound like there anything sinister. Just sounds like a noisy diesel. Is this the norm for these engines? I have read about faulty fuel injectors could be a potential cause. -

Toyota Verso D4D 31 Dec 2006 (Forum)
I am considering buying a Verso diesel as a towcar for a caravan( no comments thank you). I like Toyota cars for their reliability and consider the Verso or Corolla suitable for my needs, the Verso has lots more room inside. Does anybody out there have and comments regarding owning a diesel Verso, negative or positive and what sort of fuel economy could I expect on the combined cycle? -

Diesel - The clean alternative? 15 Sep 2002 (Forum)
Why do I feel a sense of deja vu? Article from Fleet News: "Lung cancer fear over diesel fumes ONE of the largest studies carried out into the health effects of diesel exhaust emissions has warned that long-term exposure could cause lung cancer. The findings of the Health Assessment Document for Diesel Engine Exhaust, released last week by the United States Environmental Protection Agency, were revealed as latest figures showed UK fleet diesel sales had risen by 47.2% so far this year. -
Petrol into Diesel (Again) 15 Dec 2007 (Forum)
I can remember reading a manual from a car I have owned, I can't remember which one though, saying something about mixing petrol in the diesel in freezing conditions but not to exceed 25%. True, prevention is better than cure but I have actually never seen or heard of a blown up engine and unserviceable fuel system due to wrong fuel type, maybe it's a conspiricy, maybe it's like when you were a kid and you were told the bogey man would get you if you didn't go to sleep. -

Why do petrol engines... 18 Nov 2004 (Forum)
But this doesn't explain why diesel engines don't need extra fuel as they would have the same problem with the resistance of oil while it is still cold. Anyone know the answer to this vexing question? teabelly -
Seat Ibiza 23 Sep 2002 (Forum)
Hello Iv got a Seat Ibiza with a 17oocc Diesel engine with a lack of fuel problem, the car didnt break down ,I used it one day then when I tried to start it the next day it wouldnt start.its defenitly lack of fuel. I cant, after having a quick look, find a pump other than the injector pump. though the fuel filter has a bleed screw, so my thinking is if the only pump is the injector pump then surely opening the bleed screw would just suck air in. -

Thought I'd fill in the form on their website to see how they'd value my '96 Mondeo diesel. £50, minus £29+VAT admin fee! I'd get more flogging the fuel in the tank.
