  The engine does not appear to have a flat spot as this fault seems to occur at any rev setting except idle. The fault seems to be more apparent in cold weather. I use shell diesel but have also used BP Ultimate and ussually use millers diesel plus. The fuel filter has been replaced and there has never been any water visible in the fuel filter housing when replacing the filter.

  I was having a look at a couple of LPG conversion websites, and was wondering about the resale values against a diesel car. Say, for the sake of argument a 2.5l petrol car cost about £3000 at 4 years old because of the fuel consumption. A similarly-powered diesel car may well be the thick end of five grand at the same age due to the superior MPG, but with an LPG conversion costing between £1500-2000 it seems to me that the petrol option would be cheaper and more fun as well.

  Had this vehicle 5 years and it has always been sensitive to fuel filters. It will cut out but always restart immediately then run for another few miles...

  In this day & age of rising fuel costs & higher taxation i have decided to modify my car to run on a mixture of hydrogen & diesel its a simple procedure of converting tap water to hydrogen gas then fed into the engine along with your existing fuel whether it be petrol or diesel.

  I bought a mondeo yesterday drove it home fine.. got in it today and it stopped run out of diesel on the way to the garage, shoved a gallon in and it started after a cloud of smoke.. drove it to the garage put fuel in it, on the way home it stopped and now wont pick up? accelerate? any ideas, the one glow plug was bubbling at the base and ive tightened that up but i think its leaking diesel, think its coming off the back side of the engine when i look underneath.

  On one of the trips down in a petrol Fiesta it was well below freezing, perhaps below minus 10C and just about every truck on the road, entering Wales, seemed to have pulled over with a waxed fuel supply. In Swansea bay the sea was actually frozen in piles as the surf hit the shore. I had at this point almost chosen a Fiesta diesel, which would have been my first and the incident put me off diesel until 1991.

  Hi there I own a Peugeot 406 HDi on a 02 plate, and I want to try running it on Bio Diesel at 5 or 10% but I cant find out from Peugeot UK if this will harm the engine. They claim to have no information on the subject! I also have the option of using 100% Bio Diesel, but as the car is still under warranty I don't want to cause any problems.

  Three days after my diesel mondeo had been in the garage to be emptied of petrol (silly boy!) the hose from the tank to the filter (the one used to pump out the tank) worked loose at the engine end and sprayed out £27 worth of diesel over about 4 miles.

  HJ says to stick with the same brand of premium diesel. A case could be made for alternating brands. First, no make's additive is going to be incompatible with another's. The publicity would be damaging and liability could only be discharged if any incompatibility were made public.

  I have an XK150 replica. 4.2 jag auto returning 18mpg. Just about too expensive to drive due to fuel. I have considreed and rejected LPG and intend to repower with diesel. A nice big, low tech powerful economical  complete with autobox and must be rear wheel drive! BMW probably- 2.5 tds. My question- which BMW engine is best for power, economy, low tech (minimum electronics)?

  There are two companies advertising plug in diesel power upgrades,one is Tunit and the other is Turbotune DT.  Has anyone had experience with these devices?  The companies say these modules increase the power and torque, better fuel economy and less turbo lag.

  I want to swap my Citreon Synergie for a Land rover Discovery as we have just bought a caravan and need some decent pulling power. ( No jokes about caravan owners please) I am looking for a 2.5 Diesel but they are as rare as rocking horse excrement. Is there much fuel consumption difference between the 2.5 diesel and the 3.0 diesel? Any one got any tips on Land Rovers or anything I should look out for before Start to harrass poor car salesman?

  I was out for a short while this evening, during which time I filled the car with fuel. Shortly afterwards, as I drove home, the multifunction display flashed up a message for a few seconds. It said that the diesel additive was at minimum. It only displayed the message once. Does anyone know what this is referring to?
