Ford Focus (1998 - 2004) - 2000 1.8 Do I need a new battery? 17 Dec 2008 (Forum)
This is on a diet of mostly short (2 to 3 mile) trips. Symptoms seem to improve after a longer run. Two questions 1. If it is the battery, what make should I get - I know it has to be calcium for the smart charging? 2. If it isn't the battery what is it? Thanks in advance -
Rover 200 and 400 (1989 - 1996) - Electrical fault 1.4 petrol DOHC 10 Nov 2008 (Forum)
I was travelling at around 40 mph when the car experienced a virtual total electrical failure. At first the breakdown mechanic suspected a battery failure, he connected a battery booster and it no effect. The battery is only about a year old I had no problem starting the car about 5 minutes early. The fault gives the appearance of a flat battery but when you place a drain on the system like turning on the interior light the temperature gauge goes pass the hot mark even though the engine is cold and the ignition lights illuminate. -

Ford Fiesta (1995 - 1999) - 99 Cold start and battery drain 29 Oct 2007 (Forum)
1999 ford courier van, 2 problems... 1: battery draining dead overnight. 2: if i disconnect battery, reconnect in the morning its still a pig to start, will crank for 15/20 secs before firing up with a cloud of smoke, .but if i warm the plugs 3 times, (ie wait for light to go out, then turn off/on again) then it seems a hell of a lot better. iv looked on forums and seen a lot of different views on plugs and maybe air. -
MG MG TF (2002 - 2005) - Laying it up 22 Oct 2007 (Forum)
Would it be better for the engine if I just leave it unmoved as much as possible for the next 5 months (it might still need moving now and then to get at things in the garage) or should I be starting it every fortnight and letting it warm up etc? To look after the battery I will be attaching an Optimate battery conditioner that has kept my dad's old VFR battery going for many years so not turning the car over won't result in a dead battery. Nissan - Locked out of an Almera 27 Sep 2007 (Forum)
There is not even a key hole in the door. Before going to New Zealand recently for 7 weeks, she disconnected the battery so that it would not discharge whilst she is away. She opened the bonnet, locked the door with the remote key fob, disconnected the battery and then closed the bonnet again. She then realised that on her return she would have no way of getting into the car, as the door will not open if the battery is disconnected. -
Battery for 1957 Ford Anglia 100E 3 Apr 2006 (Forum)
Does anyone out there happen to have a battery catalogue modern or old (e.g. an old Lucas catalogue possibly from the '60s or '70s)? I need to find the battery code for a 1957 Ford Anglia 100E that I've just purchased (NOT to be confused with later, reverse window Harry Potter type). -
Self-charging batteries 27 Mar 2006 (Forum)
Cars are getting more power hungry with every new model. As the technology develops will we see devices to recharge the battery as you move without additional drain on the engine. -

Car solar panel battery conditioners / chargers 15 Jan 2023 (Forum)
I've been thinking about buying a portable solar panel car battery charger, given my car mostly sits around for long periods and the cost (fitted) of car batteries is now around the £150 - £200 mark, especially as my car seems to go through batteries around every 4-5 years, whatever the usage (I've never detected any electrical issues, including lights on in the boot, etc). -
Ford Ka2 - Are Ford being helpful? 7 Mar 2011 (Forum)
Ford have basically said they are unwilling to support this problem until my Mum pays them £105 for fitting a new battery. Seems very unreasonable to me, not to mention a huge price for a small battery for a car like a KA. Any advice? -

Battery testing 21 Oct 2006 (Forum)
This is my first post on this forum, petrol engines aren't my most fave. subject, rather have something with a diesel and don't have to bend my back or put on a ramp to work on - i.e. tractor, truck, excavator. Anyway what I am looking for is information specific to standard [Exide] lead plate batteries in particular the text book correct way of initially charging prior to selling to a customer and the correct way to diagnose a battery failure. Initial charge: From what I can gather first I need to fill the dry cells with 1.260 electrolyte [dil. -

Expected Battery Life 25 Jun 2004 (Forum)
I have just had a complete battery failure on my just over 3 year old Skoda Fabia 1.9tdi. The car was bought new and has covered 61,000 kilometers. Is this extremely short life usual? I know that usage patterns affect a battery, but in my case, the car rarely sits in the garage for more than three days before a decent shopping trip run of between 20 to 35 kilometers each way is done. -
Citroen C3 2002 auto - battery warning light comes on and car stops 12 Oct 2011 (Forum)
as above. 2minutes later will start and run fine. -
VW Passat 1.8 litre (saloon, sunroof) - Passat battery drain mystery 6 Sep 2010 (Forum)
I have read some great advice on this forum before about the common water-under-seat leak problems and possible battery drains, but after trying all the suggestions I still have a mystery drain on my battery. First visible problem was water welling up on the floor carpet in the rear (driver-side). Checked plenum area (as suggested in previous posts), but drain holes are fine; no evidence that the battery compartment has ever flooded. -
Ford Fiesta - Fiesta MK7 battery light issue 30 Sep 2020 (Forum)
My 2011 fiesta 1.25 has an annoying problem where the battery light keeps coming on, mostly on longer drives. it's been like this for a while but the car has always been fine apart from the light. While driving at the weekend the light came on again but this time more lights came on and the car started to drive weird (power steering and ABS stopped working) Stopped the car and turned it off, when trying to restart the battery was flat.
