M reg 1.9 diesel - Strange electrical problem - isisalar
Got an M reg 1.9 diesel auto.Started car yesterday . Possibly whilst touching the sunroof button I heard a 'pop' through the speakers,and the battery light came on.Turned engine off ,re started,no battery light,sunroof not working,and neither is the speedo. Checked fuse no11 and is fine. Started car later, fine,after a few hundred yards the battery light came on again. Turned off re started , no battery light ,drove home ok. Incidentally I wasn't starting the car with the sunroof button pressed. Ihave heard the 'pop' occasionally when moving the gear selector . Help!

Check fuse 28.

Thanks screwloose you're a star. Fuse 28 indeed blown as is now the one I replaced it with.Battery has gone flat as if altenator has stopped working never rains but pours etc .HELP!

Recharge battery; then try another fuse - without touching the sunroof switch.

That fuse may well power the alternator warning light and that will affect the charging if you don't rev it hard enough to kick the alternator into action - at which point the warning light will back-feed and come on....
