Test your own breath 21 Dec 2004 (Forum)
Given that it's easily possible to still be well over the limit the following day it's well worth the price I'd have thought for anyone who's likely to be indulging but may wish/need to drive and wants to be on the safe side. -

Rover 200 car alarm 5 Dec 2004 (Forum)
I have a 1999 Rover 200 (214) and the car alarm is driving me batty. It keeps going off after I lock with the fob, it is that bad that I'm thinking of taking the alarm out. Have had it into Rover garage, who have allegedly fixed it citing some wiring as being the cause which they claimed to have fixed and charge me £75, but its still going off. -

New diesel tips please 21 Oct 2004 (Forum)
Apart from boring SWMBO to death with pleas about not forgetting this when filling the tank, what else should I know about owning, driving and running a diesel car? (Apologies if this has been covered in threads passim, but a site search on 'diesel' had a predictably huge response) -

Forseeable mistakes by car industry 21 Sep 2004 (Forum)
In several recent threads we've discussed car manufacturers running into trouble because they missed somthing most people could see quite easily. For example: City Rover pricing X-Type launch engine range Right Hand Drive versions of large French cars (607, Vel Satis) Can anyone think of similar/ealier tales? Conversely, what about bold moves that proved cynics wrong? -
MG X-Power (hubba hubba hubba) 1 Sep 2004 (Forum)
It's a seriously sexy motor and sounds like the dogs dangly bits! It feels well made and handles excellently. I know what I'd be driving if I had a spare £73k! 4.6 litres of pure gorgeousness! -

Renault Megane TV advert 20 Aug 2004 (Forum)
'Er indoors will not stop going on about it (she suspects it's something distasteful) until I can tell her, and unfortunately my hearing is just not good enough to be able to distinguish the words. Please help ~ she's driving me bananas! -- L'escargot by name, but not by nature. -
Teaching under-17s 2 Jul 2004 (Forum)
Hi, I wonder if anyone can help me. I'm teaching a 15-year-old to drive, and I'm trying to find places we can go to practice. We live in the West Midlands but I don't mind travelling to find somewhere; currently the only places I've come up with are in Newark and Oxfordshire, both of which are shut the day we want to go! -
Megane 1.4e RN 1998 what problem 1 Jul 2004 (Forum)
I'm thinking of buying one of these so that my son can drive it, and am going to look at a 75000mile example on saturday from private buyer, also possibly looking at a similar car from a dealer in the same area. What sort of problems should I be looking for, apart from those in the car-by-car breakdown on this site? -
Hyundai value 20 Jun 2004 (Forum)
Just had a quick look at the latest Drive the Deal prices for the Hyundai range and, as HJ says, they do seem very good. Having only recently looked at and test driven both the Trajet 2.0l gsi petrol and 2.0l td models, prices of £12-13k seem very very good. -
Suzuki Liana auto 31 May 2004 (Forum)
My Liana auto makes a peculiar noise when I drive off from cold, a sort of "twang", sounds a bit like a couple of components in the gearbox springing apart. It's always done it, right from new. The dealer couldn't trace it. It's done 10,000 trouble-free miles and the sound hasn't changed, so I guess it's nothing to worry about. -
Ford mondeo brake judder 9 Apr 2004 (Forum)
Just got back from 2 weeks holiday when my car has not been used. When driving it today had marked judder when pressing brake pedal. No problems when pedal not pressed. No problems if handbrake applied whilst moving. Brakes not seized on when first moving off. Any ideas what this will be (brakes had very mild judder prior to holiday but nothing like they are now) All help appreciated. -
Identify this Car Please? 8 Apr 2004 (Forum)
Now I know this could be embarrassing, so I am quite prepared to accept answers which begin with 'I didn't see it myself but....' or 'a mate has informed me' ;) But, someone has asked me what car the captain (Conrad Gates - the suspiciously Beckham'like character) was driving when he pulled into the club car park. I didn't see it, but I'd like to be able to tell them authoritively. Anyone got an answer for me .... please? -
Peugeot 206 brake lights 8 Apr 2004 (Forum)
While driving on the M4 today I followed a peugeot 206 for a number of miles with its brake lights illuminated. This is the fourth 206 I have seen with this problem over the last few months. I reckon it is a serious enough safety defect to warrant a recall, I don't know if any Peugeot owners are aware of one. -
Diesel starting problem - Astramax 22 Mar 2004 (Forum)
I use my Astramax van daily for /- 10 mile round trip, no problems. I recently did a 90 mile trip. On the way home everything was fine. Came into my drive and it conked out. Could not start at all. Still does not. A mechanic told me it was unlikely to be the glow plugs as the engine was still warm when trying to start it.Everything seems to be connected and the cam belt is not broken. -
Short holidays and SORN 15 Mar 2004 (Forum)
We have one of our cars parked in the drive at the moment, having a month off, as we sometimes do (no, really, officer). It seems silly to declare SORN if it's going back on the road in a fortnight, but I assume that if we don't, we will get clobbered by the new regs.
