• Astra sport - traction control fault 30 Jul 2006 (Forum)
  Hi I have recently started hasving a problem with the traction control on my Astra..while I am driving the warning light comes on the dashboard and removes my ABS and traction! I cannot see what triggers it (if anything) and it is intermittant - loathe to take it to the dealer as I am not convinced they would find anything and then charge me an arm and a leg.

  Hi, Woner if anyone could give me any pointers for the condition a friend is having on thier P Reg 1.25 Zetec Fiesta. Symptom: If driving along and you depress the clutch the revs stay high and take some time to reduce. Alternatively, you can be at standstill, rev the engine and it will continue to rev say at 3000rpm before finally dropping down to idle.

  Because of a bad back and other health problems but mainly because I like it, I drive a Honda CRV Auto. For similar reasons I only do low mileage each year and because my costs are otherwise low I only use Shell Optimax on the basis that I believe this may keep my engine in a better condition and counteract the low mileage of about 3000 a year.

  For fiesta second hand prices we can buy a brand new car. Looking at reviews they all seem fairly positive about the new Rio. I will test drive one this weekend and would welcome comments and the sort of discount I should aim for.

  As far as I am concerned (and I appreciate it may not be the view of many people), there are only two designs of car, boxes on wheels and the early Jaguar E type. Sadly appart from one memorable half hour I am destined forever to own and drive the former. To get to the point of this posting I am looking for a good quality picture or poster, the bigger the better.Does anyone know where I can find one? Keep upright Chris

  hi there, can anyone help??? i have an alfa romeo 156 2.0 t spark 1999 with 100k on the clock and at the moment i cant drive it because the idle speed is stuck in high revvs all the time (over 3000 and rising) basically its revving its nuts off!! this has only just started...does any one know of a possible cause and solution?

  and it has and alarm on (3rd party i think) which all of a sudden has started going off randomly, even when it is supposedly switched off and when you are driving. I thought it might be the battery but it was new about 6 months ago, so has anyone else got any ideas what it could be?! Thanks

  We have the same problem with both our 2003 Mondeo Ghia Estates TDCI 130 ps Diesel 6 speed.When parked over night ( with out hand brake on)when engaging reverse to take cars from garage we hear a very nasty graunching noise from the front , seems to be with the drive linkage , this does not happen again until the next day !! any advice please ?

  Is there any risk in using an engine flush to cure this problem? The car has covered 90,000 miles. Doesn't burn oil and drives well.Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks.

  I was driving to work today when my car died, there was a little fuel left but not much, i went to the local petrol station to get some more but the car would not start even with more fuel, the timing belt is intact, i cannot think of anything else to check, maybe the injectors are block due to it running on low fuel?

  It lasts for a minute or so then stops but if I move the steering wheel at all it starts again for a few seconds. This eventually goes away after about 5mins driving. I had the altenator/power seering belt changed last week but far from fixing the problem it has made it worse. The squealing now last longer and happens more often. Any idea?

  I have a mate who has had a provisional driving license (bike entitlement) since 'years ago'. He has recently bought a new bike after being off the road for some years and has not taken a CBT test, he says that as he had his license so long ago and for such a long time he does not need to take CBT.

  Whilst driving along engine decides to go bang, no smoke or nothing just stops. Recovered back home, car wont start or tickover, but when you turn the key it makes a whining noise, now not being technically gifted could somebody give me an idea to what it might be or where to start looking.

  A news item in the D/Telegraph today reports a Judge at Winchester Crown Court directing a jury to return a not guilty verdict,of dangerous driving, on a driver clocked by a traffic officer at 149mph yes 149mph on an Isle of Wight road. From the article it appears that female judge thought that as the road was clear of traffic and away from houses it was not a danger.

  Just wondered whether there are any pitfalls - I don't want to be in the situation of the car being on the drive and being unable to move it as I've messed up the clutch adjustment! I presume the adjustment simply takes up wear much the same as adjusting a handbrake cable. Regards, ajsdoc
