  • Vauxhall Cavalier (1988 - 1995) - 88-95 Isuzu 1.7 diesel engine power loss (turbo ?) 7 Jan 2008 (Forum)
Just bought a cheap run around and after a few days of driving it, i have noticed a big loss in power whilst going up hills. Thought it may be the turbo as when i felt it, it was cool to touch. Any other suggestions would be welcomed. slt

  • Renault Clio III (2005 - 2009) - 2006 1.5cdi - boot keeps opening 21 Dec 2007 (Forum)
The boot of my 06 clio 1.5 cDi has started opening as I drive along the road. I have eliminated a problem with the key by switching to the spare key, the problem persists. Any ideas, anyone? For a couple of days previously, when I unlocked the doors with the plipper, the boot also unlocked, not sure if this is relevant.
  • Renault Megane (1996 - 1998) - 96, 1.6Misfiring - coil packs? 10 Dec 2007 (Forum)
Stepson's 90K mile 1.6 petrol Megane sounds as if it is running on only 2 cylinders, which seems likely to be due to a dodgy coil pack. (He drove it downhill to our house, not surprisingly it won't drive back up the hill to the local indie's garage) Are these a dealer only item and is a new coilpack a straightforward fix? ( i.e no need to reset ECU? )

  • Proof of ncd for Co car driver made redundant 20 Nov 2007 (Forum)
I'm sure that this has surfaced before and I guess I know the answer but for reassurance a person previously driving a company vehicle for the past 5 years now made redundant has to seek his own insurance policy. He's had no accidents in that time and therefore has a legitimate right to ncd.How does he formally get the required documentary proof to satisfy his new insurance company?

  • Accord: what tyre pressures? 25 Aug 2007 (Forum)
I'm a bit puzzled by the tyre pressure label on my Accord... it looks like this: ~160kph: 33/30 (front/rear) 160~kph: 38/35 I'm guessing that you're supposed to use the higher pressures when travelling above 100mph, but why? And if I do a lot of motorway driving at about 70mph, can I try running them at the higher pressure to get better fuel economy? Cheers, David.
  • EU wide speed fines? 17 Aug 2007 (Forum)
Driving to Gatwick yesterday along the A303 I was behind a Romanian registered car in a queue of traffic which was playing an interesting game. It couldn't go flat out, but every time he got to a speed camera he hung back to create a gap, and then floored it to set the camera off.
  • Skoda Fabia (2000 - 2007) - coolant sensor /steaming radiator 14 Aug 2007 (Forum)
I filled it with coolant to max then drove home, still warning light, still steaming. Has the rad blown? Is it a hose problem? Is it something else? Is it safe to drive five or six miles to a dealer? Best bigdaddy

  • mk3 golf gti temp and thermostat 8 Jul 2007 (Forum)
Another problem now. The temp gauge does not move whilst i am driving, stays pretty much on zero. Top and bottom pipes out of the rad are bot hot and the fan kicks in every now and again. When i look at the on board computer, the oil temp is usually above 100. Also i cant find where the thermostat is.
  • Online dealers 24 May 2007 (Forum)
Are there any snags in using these? For a new Fiat Grande Punto diesel I am contemplating, Drive The Deal, which seems to be the one favoured by HJ, offers a mouthwatering 16% or so off. The same rate applied to extras, although the choice of them is limited. According to what they say, the car might well be supplied by my local dealer.
  • Rover Streetwise- 21 May 2007 (Forum)
I drive a Rover Streetwise 2.0 TD and the water level has dropped and needs to be topped up. Considering the problems that Rover had with overheating is there any recommended antifreeze or do I simply to up the resevoir with water till the next service.
