  • Ford Focus (1998 - 2004) - 02 1.8 TDCi glow-plug warning light problem 13 Aug 2010 (Forum)
OK, My local garage (non-Ford) has been trying to sort out a problem on my TDCi Focus - namely glow-plug light coming on/engine cutting out. The fault codes are p1200 - injector/wiring/ecu, and p0251, wiring/injector pump/ecu. They have tested the Turbo - OK, injectors, again OK, and pump, ok. Also wiring & hoses OK, but a bit warn - done 190k. So, any ideas anyone! What has happened now since being in the garage was what looked like an oil leak (under engine), but checking the dip-stick all OK, so seems to be when engine on.

  • Vauxhall Astra Immobiliser?? 18 Sep 2006 (Forum)
Checked the fuel pump - No power was going to the fuel pump I then bridged the fuel pump relay and the fuel pump ran OK (didn't try starting the car in case I damaged anything) From this I concluded (rightly or wrongly) that either the fuel pump relay is not working or the relay is not receiving a signal from the ecu to "switch on" the relay and allow power to run to the pump. I was wondering if this "switch on" signal to the relay is given by the ecu immobiliser, I have no mil lights or other warning lights coming up on the dashboard.

  • Vectra 2.2 petrol stalling... 11 Jun 2004 (Forum)
Upon restarting (and at all other times) the engine never misses a beat. Last time, the garage re-programmed the ECU, changed the ECU, re-set the throttle assembly up, cleaned the throttle assembly, etc. on numerous visits (5) last summer and the problem seemed to be cured until this week when it\'s started happening again every morning.
  • Passat 110tdi power loss 3 Apr 2004 (Forum)
The hose exits this pipe from below and is only about 4mm in diameter, it then disappears into the wiring which heads off into the ECU. Take the cover off the ECU and you will find the hose entering the back. I tried to blow through it and found it blocked (oil gradually builds up in this hose, later models have a separate sensor mounted on top of the inlet manifold pipe to avoid this). £2.79 for a length of windscreen washer hose to by-pass this blocked hose and it has been running perfectly ever since!
  • Warranty on import 27 Dec 2002 (Forum)
One of their staff pulled the radio out and rushed to a local auto stereo outfit to sort the code. When the car was put back into he dash it cuased a mal-function in the ECU which now does not recognise the stereo at all. The manager said I could take the car to a local dealer who would re prog the ECU under warranty. I declined saying that a local dealer could refuse to do the work under warranty as Motorpoint had tampered with the component and inmho this could also have warranty implications for anything that is related the radio area ( or electrics) I did not take the car home but wonder who is correct.
