  • A Grand Monday: Honda S-MX 21 Aug 2017 (News)
That means 2.0-litres, around 140bhp, which makes it quicker than many of the Japanese minivans. The gearbox is a four-speed automatic with torque converter lock-up to boost efficiency. But what is it like to run and keep going?
  • Customised Maserati Quattroporte Series One for sale 23 May 2017 (News)
The name Iniezione came from the original Lucas Injection system, but in 1966 Dr Wax asked it to be replaced by carburettors (this can be reversed since the injection parts are still available). Furthermore, the automatic gearbox was replaced by a ZF manual unit and Bosch electric components were installed instead of the Magneti Marellis. Other options Dr Wax requested were power-assisted steering, special double exhaust pipes (each 60 mm) and two enlarged petrol tanks (50 litres each, normally 35 litres) increasing the car’s touring range.
  • A Grand Monday: Peugeot 405 21 Nov 2016 (News)
With a new 12-month MoT, the only thing that might detract from the car’s appeal is its automatic gearbox. Its pseudo-sportiness may not deliver the most engaging drive as a result, but having owned an auto 405 before, the author can confirm they’re actually really quite pleasant. At £895, this needs snapping up quickly.

  • Skoda Fabia vRS Estate (2010-) 19 Jun 2016 (News)
Engine 1390cc turbocharged petrol TSI, 180PS and 250Nm Performance  0-62mph in 7.3 seconds, top speed 140mph Economy 45.6mpg combined Transmission Seven-speed DSG automatic Price new £17,265 If the Octavia vRS Estate was a bit unusual then the Fabia vRS Estate is a proper oddity. Small estates rarely look good and even with the best will in the world you wouldn’t describe the standard Fabia Estate as a ‘looker’.
  • A Grand Monday: Nissan Micra, £599 6 Jun 2016 (News)
This includes four new tyres, new oil and filter, air filter, fuel filter, fan belt, and spark plugs. According to the seller, this Micra drives perfectly. 'Last winter, I did a daily commute of 60 miles to and from work - the headlights are brilliant, the heater is amazing and works perfectly on all settings and the visibility out of this car all round is excellent.’ He added, ‘Insurance is dirt cheap and I achieved 56 mpg on my run to work.’ So if you’re based near Gilwern, Abergavenny, then we reckon this car is definitely worth a look.
  • A grand Monday: Citroen BX project £500 18 May 2015 (News)
So that’s the good, what about the bad? Well, we’re told the sunroof does not stop automatically and the wiper speed is slow. The big worry is the ride height needs adjusting – it’s 40mm too high at the rear and 30mm too low at the front. But that might not be as bad as it sounds.

  • A Grand Monday: Austin Montego 2.0 Mayfair 27 Oct 2014 (News)
By Paul Guinness, Contributor The Montego is one of those cars of the 1980s and ’90s that’s suddenly an unusual sight out on the street, with certain versions offering real rarity appeal on today’s classic scene. Happily for buyers, however, such scarcity doesn’t automatically mean hefty asking prices, as the £995 tag attached to this low-mileage 2.0-litre Mayfair proves.  According to How Many Survived, the number of Montegos still on the road is down to a less than a hundred (with a few more on SORN) making this 25,000-mile saloon an unusual offering.
  • Advice on Avoiding a Crash for Cash 30 May 2014 (News)

If you are drivingt an automatic in slow moving traffic, left foot braking enables you to stop instantly if the car in front stops suddenly. Moneysupermarket advises: "Anyone caught up in what they think could be a suspected 'Crash For Cash' situation should follow some simple but effective steps to ensure they gather as much information as possible at the scene to thwart the scam and help insurers tackle this increasing problem."
  • A Grand Monday: Saab 99 7 Apr 2014 (News)
And for that additional slice of genuine charm, it's a bit down-at-heel to look at, with peeling lacquer and a sun-bleached rear seat, but we like it all the more for that. It's a 99GL automatic, which means that the slant-four engine is carburetted, and pushing out 100bhp. At £4905 new in 1979, it wasn't cheap, and there were many rivals that could beat its 100mph maximum speed and 0-60mph time of 13.6 seconds.
