Suggestions please - leg room, easy to park, mpg 5 Sep 2024 (Forum)
Hiya, I'm looking for suggestions for a 3-5 year old car for a budget of upto £14,000. It needs to have: - plenty of rear leg room (3 of us are over 6ft) - be 'small' and easy to park as finding parking is scarce near where I live - have a good mpg - current car gives me about 55mph so similar or better ? -
fabia/Arona/troc/308/corsa/C3/whatever - what next..petrol 1 or 1.2 tsi ish small "suv" 18 Jun 2024 (Forum)
Looking to buy a small ish crossover/smallish SUV. Sort of Fabia estate/ C3 aircross/Arona etc. That sort of sized car. We do low mileage but need a decent boot, the car will replace an old Civic and a BIG subaru forester. So we have to compramize. Fabia estate...a bit bland, 308/corsa meh. C3 a gamble. We do 3000 miles a year, local 25 miles at a time... -
£8k to spend - Looking for a Diesel Saloon/Hatch 5 Jan 2024 (Forum)
Hi all, Currently coming away from a Company Car and needing to buy a car. I'd love your opinions please. Ideally looking to spend no more than £8k and would be looking at Diesel and no more than 100k on the clock. From what I've seen a 320d looks a good option but naturally I'm seeing A4's, Golf's, Octavia's etc. -
ANY - No entry except for authorised vehicles 15 Aug 2023 (Forum)
The moral of the story? Not quite sure. Neigbours 18yr old son saved up, parents and gramps helped get a car, Passed on 2nd attempt, and used car for a few weeks, the 2 weeks on the Costas with family. Came home to multiple tickets for going through what many use as a rat-run where the local council have started enforcing using CCTV. -

cars I was considering my next car was to be a Vitara but not now - the Hybrid models now come with the same poor excuse for a gearbox (automated manual) -
Suzuki Baleno - help - inexperienced daughter wants to drop £8k 25 Aug 2020 (Forum)
Inexperienced daughter wants to put her £3000 savings down on a Baleno SZ3 at a national dealer, and finance the rest, which is £5000.. It's an 18 plate 11000 miles. I won't go through her life story but she thinks the car is an "investment" and has a history of making expensive impulse purchases on shiny things. Need some back up to give her solid reasons to get a good car at £3000 or less - to be fair she does need one, her old Jazz is held together by tape and prayers. -
Ford Fiesta - Private plate and selling 10 Jun 2020 (Forum)
So heres the deal, i am selling my first car it currently has a personalized plate attached to it. I plan to retain the plate which i know incurs an £80 charge but my question is, When i choose to take the plate off my car do i then have to wait for a whole new v5 document or can i simply get the new plates printed immediately and proceed with selling privately? -
Citroen C4 Grand Picasso - Citroen 1.2T engine failure 6 Apr 2020 (Forum)
Colleague at work told me of her father's woe with a 5 year old (but only 30k mile) Grand Picasso that has suffered total engine failure (cracked block?) which started with a seemingly impossible to diagnose coolant loss. However, in Citroen's favour, although the car doesn't have a full Citroen service history they are fitting a new engine FOC. -
BMW118i - A new cylinder head at 20k miles? Why? 1 May 2019 (Forum)
Very tempted to buy this from a large dealer: 2016, 37k miles, lovely condition etc - but the record shows it had a new cylinder head fitted at 20,000 miles. Call me old fashioned but I never heard of any car requiring such major work at such a low mileage. Haven't been able to get info from the BMW main dealer which did the work, but what might have been the reason? -
Corsa E (2016) - Steering Wheel Airbag Cover - Is this a big job? 5 Apr 2019 (Forum)
This doesn't include a new airbag as I don't need one, it's just the cover. My question is, is it a big job to take the airbag out of the old cover and put it in the new one? The car goes back in July and I'm worried it will get flagged. Thanks in advance. Kind regards. -
MINI Cooper S - If not a Cooper S then what? Could this be put in discussion pls 29 Mar 2019 (Forum)
Evening, I was looking at buying a weekend car, 2.5k max maybe. Went through a phase of looking at MX5's, sat in one and wasn't me, Started looking at Mini Cooper S as had an old one as a first car, lots of bad news on the web but still can't completely discount it. -
Ford Fiesta Freestyle - Whirring/Propeller sound when accelerating 23 Feb 2019 (Forum)
The sound can be best described as a whirring or propeller sound (not the best description but you might get an idea). This sounds increases with the speed but being an old car its at its best at 70 mph. Everything seems to be fine in terms of the coolant, oil, etc. I am useless with cars and haven't got a clue and scanning through the forums. It it s not incredibly loud and pretty subtle but the more the accelartion goes up the noiser it can get. -

Toyota Auris - "Worn" sump plug 23 Jun 2018 (Forum)
I took my Auris in for a service at a Toyota dealer and was told that the sump plug was "worn" and that it would have to be drilled out or the sump replaced. The car is under 7 years old with a mileage of about 32000. That dealer has serviced the car since I bought it 4 years ago. I can't believe that a simple part like that which only gets unscrewed and screwed back in once a year could be worn and need replacement. -
Any - Swirls on paint 23 May 2018 (Forum)
My car is six months old and dark blue in colour. Even though I am fairly fanatical about how I wash the car, I have noticed light swirl marks in the paint now the sun has actually decided to come out. I know this is difficult to prevent as there are always particles in the air which can get under a polishing cloth. -
Amazing top 10 sellers in July 9 Aug 2017 (Forum)
Mercedes C - class -once a car to aspire to, now for the masses. Does that take the shine off owning one? 8. Vauxhall Corsa - the only Vauxhall here, not even an Astra in top 10 9. Mercedes A-class - the old upright one could never have achieved this position, not much of a looker, again IMO 10. -

Ford Focus MK2 2006 Petrol - Ford Focus consuming Engine Oil quickly 10 Aug 2016 (Forum)
I made sure I was on level ground when i checked on both occasions. Is this amount of oil consumption normal on a 10 year old car (96k)? My driving is mainly local (less than 10miles a day) 5-6 days a week. Any help would be much appreciated. Kind regards, Enzo
