• Mitsubishi 3000GTJ26 Jeep - Mitsubishi KM141 Gearbox problem please help 30 Jun 2011 (Forum)
  Incidentally the KM 141 is column change version of the KM140. All parts are Mitsubishi original. It is OK when the vehicle isn't running and all other gears engage and disengage alright as does the Hi/Lo box and Warn Overdrive. Please can you suggest a suitable gearbox specialist who could remove, diagnose and fix the fault and then refit preferably in the West Midlands/South West area as I live in Tewkesbury.

  I live halfway up a 1 in 4 in Wales and my Landcruiser has been of enormous benefit in the snow.  However it is expensive to run so I was looking for a smaller SUV as a replacement. The RAV 4 looked ideal until we found it now comes without a spare wheel, just a foam can. We occasionally take long trips through France and have suffered several punctures in the past .

  Hi everyone I was wondering if anyone can throw any light on a problem that I have.  My car starts, runs and performs spot on except that every now and again when sat at lights etc (either in neutral or with the clutch in)  the throttle revs increase on there own. Its like the nomal idle speed is just under 1000, but when it does this it kind of blips up and down between 900 about 2,500 /3000 rpm.

  I will shortly be returning to the UK to start a new job and part of my package is a considerable amount every month to purchase a new car plus a seperate payment for running costs.I have approached many (over twenty)different main agents and leasing companies asking for figures to lease or purchase a new Mercedes E class diesel and only two have replied and of these only one had definite delivery dates, specs and costs.

  Current car is a 54 plate Honda Jazz, which is fine apart from being noisy and unrefined on the motorway and a manual. My priorities are bullet proof reliability (being a time-strapped doctor), low running costs (given the high mileage) and comfort on the motorway. Have a budget of up to £13,000 and intend to buy a 2-3 year old second hand car. Either a good sized hatchback or saloon would be fine.

  My son has a 2002 Berlingo van which runs on either petrol or gas. Last week, when trying to start first thing,  the engine turned over readily enough but it wouldn't fire. An independent garage in London diagnosed fuel pump failure - this was replaced but it still didn't start.

  My 53 plate Corolla, on 82,000 miles, keeps losing power and then cutting in again, usually once during say a 20 mile run, but now getting more frequent; not funny when trying to enter a roundabout with traffic approaching!  No warning lights come on; it has been regularly serviced, and fuel cleaner put in at each service.

  I had a friend clean the components inside the key fob but it didn't solve the problem and now it's really difficult to get it to start at all! If I go out I have to leave the car running (recently got stuck in a supermarket carpark!) I'm really hoping that it's not the immobiliser! Unfortunately I don't have a spare key fob. Any suggestions???? Help please!!!!

  I have a 2002 TDi 130 (102k Miles) that has been regularly serviced ( last service was 5 weeks ago ). today it has been for a run on the motorway ( am not a mad racing driving never go over 70mph tbh ) anyway my problem/question..... from standstill once i have the engine up to about 2000 rpm i noticed i have a flat spot/misfire/lack of compression for nothing more than a couple of seconds followed by quite heavy smoke discharge from the exhaust...?

  Hi, i recently had the misfortune of having a light front end collision in my 306 hdi,  external damage would be an easy repair for myself,  however, both the passenger and drivers airbag were activated and are still in the deployed state, my main problem is that the engine will not turn over on the key, i have located the front impact sensor with red cap found to the rear of the battery tray, and pressed it to reset, but still no joy,  i assume i will have to replace airbags before i can get engine running ? does anyone know if there are other asociated parts i may have to replace . . . . ? any info regarding this matter would be greatly appreciated, thanks in advance.

  I serviced the car yesterday, changing the oil, oil filter, air filter and pollen filter. I did NOT change the the spark plugs. It was running sweet yesterday. I have just taken it for a quick drive now and as soon as i pulled away the light came on again and it was losing power intermitently. Please help as i dont have the money to take it to Peugeot for a computer check!!

  Had a mis-fire (engine management light flashing), replaced spark plugs, leads and coils. Car seemed to run better - no mis-fire. The only issue now is that when asking the car to accelerate it gives a slight hesitation then accelerates. There is no engine management light flashing and it does not happen all the time.

  Hi, hope you can help, i bought my motorhome almost a year ago, it runs very well returns 30 mpg, does not use or lose oil or water, but ever since i bought it, has smoked on start up . This is not noticeable during normal driving, but when sitting idling you can smell a fuel/parafin odour, and a light blueish smoke is noticeable.

  The very silly thing is, by that time I was already feeling so enthused that I proceeded to go on with the purchase anyway - though have only paid £150 deposit as yet. Now, with a cooler head, I'm feeling rather worried and thinking perhaps I should have run a mile... I could still pull out but with perhaps a £150 loss (the seller is a solicitor...!). Thoughts anyone?!
• Volkswagen Passat 2002 - TDi Injector replacement 27 Jan 2011 (Forum)
  Following all the advice and wiring checks the problem was the faulty injector. I have since had injector #1 replaced and the car seems to be running fine. The car has been great up till now, it has done 180K with no real problems. The cam belt has been replaced with a full service. I use this quite heavily doing 110 miles per day commuting to and from work.

    It is coming from the belts area of the engine and sounds a bit like a number of tin cans being stirred in a metal bucket!!  After a short while all is normal and quiet running.  Nothing is visible, there are no leaks etc.  I am otherwise well pleased with this car which has only done about 15,000 miles. My Nissan dealer tried to find it without luck, even after 3 days random test starts.

  Please After selling car with 3 months ins to run,I`ve  withdrawn my DD`s online and monitor account daily to make sure broker hasn`t applied to reinstate them.Also cancelled existing debit card and ordered a replacement for that account. The brokers had told me that I owe a £45 cancellation fee....can they pursue?
• Peugeot 806 HDI - Peugeot 806 heater blowing luke warm air 30 Dec 2010 (Forum)
  Could anybody tell me where this matrix is? Is it in the dash somewhere or in the engine bay?? The car runs at normal temp on the dash gauge and the coolant level warning light did blip on temporarily the other week, but I topped the levels up and have not had the warning light back on since. I guess once I have checked the matrix incoming/outgoing temp I need to look at the thermostat?

  At first it seemed to drive o.k apart from an occasional pulling back when accelerating, but I put this down to the fact the petrol had run very low and it may have been dirt in the bottom of the fuel tank being sucked into the system. Yesterday when I tried to start it it just made a clicking noise which was coming from the engine and the dash lights were also flashing.

  I have a Nissan X Trail, 56 reg. 2.2 Dci Aventura running on 215/60R17 96H Dunlop ST20 Grandtreks on alloys. I am considering buying a set of winter tyres with steel rims to use for the winter period. If you could help with the following I would be grateful.
