  • Petrol / Diesel capacity. 21 Aug 2008 (Forum)
A long established supermarket nearby occaisionlly runs out of diesel, the new one down the road doesnt, even when super market 1 runs out and it has increased demand. Does anyone know if new refueling stations have a more even Petrol / Diesel storage split to reflect current use.

  • Car costs 26 Aug 2004 (Forum)
As most people will know diesels cost about £1000-1500 more to buy new over the simular petrol petrol models. If you keep the car along time it shoule work out cheaper in the long run. However if you do an average mileage of about 10-12000 per year and look a three (3) year running cost, how do you work the costs out?????

  • Squeeky Laguna 17 Jun 2003 (Forum)
1999 'T' Laguna 1.8 RTE Problem being is that when the engine is running there seems to be a squeel similar to a chirping bird coming from the engine. When the car revs faster, the louder and quicker the squeel which leads me to that it is either a belt problem or a bearing that has run dry.
  • Thermostat: regulator or on/off valve? 2 Jan 2003 (Forum)
If the thermostat is acting purely as a coolant on/off valve for cold startup then surely another element must be providing regulation at normal running temperature?

  • BMW X1 - SE 2017 used wrong tyres 12 Jan 2021 (Forum)
I've tried to find if this is a suitable tyre, regardless of it not being run flat.  The car was over £15K and full market value.  Since recommended runflats seem to run at around £150 a corner any suggestions on what to do?
  • 2010 Honda CRV 2.2 iDtec - Upgrading to an AGM battery 3 Feb 2020 (Forum)
I am a great believer in having power in reserve and after a bit of research I read on one site that it was a worthwhile upgrade fitting an AGM battery if you are not doing many miles and mostly short runs.  I do 6000 miles per year and my runs are mostly local with the occasional 15 mile trip into town. I also need better battery to run my Blackvue twin dashcam in parking mode. I have narrowed my choice to a Bosch S5 AO8 096.
  • Van suggestion 23 Oct 2019 (Forum)
Im thinking in the new year prehaps get a newer van. Prehaps a smaller one cos i only carry a few tools occasionally and odd dump run. I mainly use the van to drive a couple a miles a day to work and back. So with the low milage driven it needs to be a cheap run around and definitely no dpf cos based on the shoter runs it will block up.
  • Lexus RX300 (Harrier) - Lexus keeps going intermittently dead 25 Feb 2017 (Forum)
Then sometimes it will just fire into life. I checked the battery running and it's putting in 14.5V running and battery standing is 12.8V. So battery seems all ok. It there a main relay module on these cars which brings down everything? Any advice appreciated!
  • W2000 Citroen Berlingo 1.9D (DW8 engine) - Hard to start first thing. 31 Aug 2015 (Forum)
Is this small leak enough to cause the fuel to run back? If so can the seals on throttle arm be replaced with the pump in position or does the pump need to be completely removed? Could there be any other reasons for the fuel to run back overnight?
  • Audi A4 1998 2.8 - Automatic gearbox issue 24 Dec 2013 (Forum)
I bought my Audi about six months ago, Its been running like a dream. I now have encountered a problem. Everything runs perfect, smooth gear change etc. Until it seems that the engine starts to warm up. The "clutch" is slipping! I can put into any gear and the car starts to budge at about 4-5000 revs.
  • 306 - peugeot 306 running problems 13 Mar 2013 (Forum)
dads got a peugeot 306 estate diesel (2002) non turbo with an intermittent fault thats getting worse.  car starts fine and runs fine most of the time and has always felt gutles. now and again it feels like it missfires for a split second whilst driveing. also the accelerater pedal is quite stiff to press and some times gets harder then the car looses power struggled to get over 30mph seams to be worse when the cars left over night and the engines cold.
  • Vauxhall Vectra B 1.8 16v 2000 estate - Won't pull away when cold 8 Mar 2013 (Forum)
I have a 2000 1.8 16v Vectra with aprox 112k on the clock, recently,  it's having some cold running issues. S tarts up straight away (I think it used to rev at just over 1000rpm when cold but now runs at normal warm tickover), but until the engine is warm if you try to pull away it stalls or misfires,  if you leave it to warm up it  w ill run all day without problem,   it's perfect.
  • peugeot 205 gti 1.6 1986 - rough running 30 Aug 2012 (Forum)
It is a C-reg, 120K, in generally good shape. The problem is pinking and misfiring. The engine starts fine and runs well cold. The trouble starts when warm, and under load. Sometimes accelerating off a roundabout has it stuttering so much it seems in danger of stalling. Then, usually, flooring it cures the problem, but lifting off and reapplying the gas again can cause a backfire.
  • Peugot 206 - Running lights ON/OFF at random. 19 Jul 2011 (Forum)
This, I think, is faster than the usual bleeping warning you get when you open a door with the car running, and there is no display on the dash. This fault started at the same time, so presumably is related. Anyone met this before?
  • any - running out of fuel in a tdci vcdi cdti car 6 May 2011 (Forum)
Just having a discussion with some friends and got a service manager from a national chain involved, and in line with my thinking quote "damage to fuel pumps caused by mis-fuelling AND running the pump dry IS NOT covered under warranty." unquote........................ I think that Ford put it in the handbook on new cars, but does anyone else have experience of this. Had an aquaintance attempt to get home on an empty tank and when fuelled put in 68litres diesel into a 65 litre tank. was he lucky or what!
