One rule for us... 17 Dec 2007 (Forum)
I know that foreign diplomats get a free licence swap without the need to do a test. Then there's the matter of unpaid parking and speeding fines, congestion charge, etc... Not royal-bashing here, just curious. -

Even more C Class Woes 1 Mar 2007 (Forum)
But the real worry and thank god I'd got off the M42, as I came onto the business park, approaching a roundabout I went for the brakes. The pedal didn't move at all and no braking what so-ever. Thankfully there was no-one coming onto the roundabout and I went round on 3 wheels (Didn't fancy trying the foot operated parking brake option...). -
No hiding place from car clampers 24 Jan 2007 (Forum)
Full details at http://tinyurl.com/2dbcdt The motoring organisations have raised the problem of recently purchased vehicles possibly being clamped due to the previous owner's failure to pay parking fines. Well what happens if your vehicle is cloned? Under this type of law you are guilty until proven innocent. There must be safeguards built in besides the use of a bond of £250. If you are wrongly clamped then you should also be allowed compensation for wrongful clamping denying you the right to use you vehicle and disruption to your normal life. -
Shiny Happy Traffic Wardens... 1 Aug 2004 (Forum)
Mindful of the horror stories about wardens jumping out from behind lampposts as one tries to obtain one's parking ticket, I was a little worried when, the second I had finished parking, one was ticketing the car next to mine. Contrary to normal HF wallflower behaviour, I called to him that I had only just arrived, and he responded, very politely and jovially, with a traffic-wardenly-style joke. -
Citroen Xsara Starting problems 31 Jan 2004 (Forum)
Managed to get going by giving it some throttle and reving it. Went in for sercice. Asked to check Battery and Alternator and told all OK. Fine since but has been parked up all week with the cold weather and same thing happened today. It did start after 20 goes! I was wondering if the battery is weak under cold weather and once it gets going it quickly charges, or could it be cold start mechinism. -

penalty notice 30 Jan 2023 (Forum)
In December I was issued a ticket on my car with the private registration for not being entitled to use the car park. When I took the matter up with my manager, he said that the registration number had been entered wrongly at some point and to ignore any communication. That was also the advice given to another work colleague who was sent several letters outlining his impending fines until they gave up. -

So, silly season continues with little ones to amuse me. Parked in supermarket car park front to back parking spaces no separation. I drove in facing forwards, stopped, handbrake on. decide to listen to end of song on radio so didn't switch off. Car reversed in in front of me and lightly touched my bumper. dash cam shows i was stopped for about 2 minutes, tiny gps impact but time and date stamped as immediately pressed save button. -
Vauxhall Vectra B (1995 - 1999) - 99 2.5 parked up overnight and wont start now 3 Jul 2009 (Forum)
It stayed on for approximately 60 seconds during which the car felt lumpy and unresponsive. This cleared up, the light went off and the car drove home just fine . I then parked it up and went to bed (night shift worker). I got into the car to drive to work approximately 14 hours later and the car won't start. It just turns over and nothing else happens. The EM light comes on and stays on during this time, as it normally did. and everything else appears normal. -
