Koni FSD dampers 12 Jul 2011 (Forum)
Suppliers in the USA are backordered and even if they had them in stock, due to the weight, postage from the US and import duty etc would price them out of my budget. -
What 4x4 best suits? 6 Jul 2011 (Forum)
with a baby coming, we want to upgrade our 4x4; something more comfy, better and faster on the roads.....but tough off road with low ratio too. short wheel base better but not too important. the budget is 4k - 7k. the rav4 and hondaCRV look too lame, the Xtrail is too big. what about the terrano2, or the kia sorento? -
Nicest sub-5k, 50mpg diesel auto to drive? 3 Apr 2011 (Forum)
So I'm looking for a used diesel auto that's not thirsty but is still a driver's car: you know what I mean. Top-speed not important but mid-range overtaking-urge is. Not over-fussed about high insurance-group. I'm 'old' now and ins'ce-cost isn't an issue. Opinions/experiences? Thank you, all. -
Extended manufacturers' warranties 21 Aug 2010 (Forum)
Are these warranties giving owners additional protection at no extra cost or is the reality that the conditions, cost and scope of the relevant servicing regimes have been altered accordingly. So, for example, have major/important parts which are now more likely to fail under the extended warranty have been brought into the scope of the servicing regime so they are routinely replaced at the owner's expense before any failures are likely to occur and sooner than otherwise would have been the case? -
Help - Non Standard Registration No. 31 May 2009 (Forum)
Car is a 2000 UK model apparently, however its registration is non standard in the form of - 'PIL ****' - * are numbers. Just concerned that this may be an import in disguise ? Checked on the DVLA website with the reg which confirms the car and the details shown by the seller. Car has full uk service history and was PDI'd in the UK. All MOTs present also and V5 seemingly correct. -
Toyota Previa (2000 - 2007) - Toyota Previa replacement 29 Jan 2009 (Forum)
Today, passing Jemca (big franchised Toyota dealer in North London) I saw a row of brand new 58-reg Estimas. Not the grey import skinny old shape Previas much favoured by mini-cabbers, but an all new shape. Nothing listed on Toyota's web-site though. Does anyone else know anything? -
Volga - Hot Volgas 19 Jan 2009 (Forum)
The Volgarised Cayenne is reputed to be good for 6.7 sec to 100 km/hr, and top speed of 250 km/hr. As it is not April 1st, and knowing that Russia imports lots of German vehicles both new and used, this could be a useful wolf in sheep's clothing. -
Peugeot 307 SW (2002 - 2008) - 04 2.0 petrol - timing belt due a change? 3 Nov 2008 (Forum)
My other half has a 307 SW 2.0 SE Auto. registered as a UK import (new) in April 2004, we bought it in 2006 Super car, lovely to drive, all the fancy Gizmos work (touch wood). It's coming up to 40,000 miles. I assume it has a timing belt, so should we get this changed at the next service? -

Dodge Ram (2005 - ) - 07 5.7 CO2 emission value for RAM 1500 4WD 1 Aug 2008 (Forum)
Through Chrysler, Daimler or Dodge is no good as they have no values on it, as coming from the US. If I officially request it, I need to pay about 100£ but need it only to calculate the importation costs in Portugal. Thanks for all the help. -

How can I tell if tyres have flat spots? 19 Mar 2007 (Forum)
Hi - I recently bought a Eunos import that has sat in dry storage for up to 5 years. It vibrates at several speeds, and I am wondering if this could be caused by flat spots on the tyres from sitting sround without moving for so long? -

I need to replace it and I am anxious to make the right choice. Do all pick ups have the old leaf back springs? Budget not most important but driveability is. Any ideas? -
Accident damage **please help** 8 Feb 2007 (Forum)
I have bought a mk4 golf gt tdi 150 only a week and a half ago- Had it detailed today, but on closer inspection most of the car has been resprayed, and the important bit is under the carpet where the spare wheel is in the boot, there is black kind of foamy stuff in the metal (not far from the spare wheel) and it looks suspiciously like some welding has been done at some point. -
stop press from Kiev 8 Feb 2007 (Forum)
Being a succesful businessman (banker) and born again christian he has managed to balance his capitalistic activities with charitable work from within the safely cossetted environment of the first Maybach (mobile temple to bad taste) imported to the country. Reports state that damage will have to repaired in Germany - lots of speculation on wether this refers to the Maybach or the face of the volvo driver after the alleged 'quiet chat' with his bodyguards. -
Drag 20 Sep 2006 (Forum)
(Subject of thread changed from "The Unbelievable HJ Column" to "Drag") Some of you will have read the HJ column in the Telegraph http://tinyurl.com/hjyzx in which a reader tells of the improvement in fuel consumption achieved by putting mountain bikes inside the car rather than on a bike rack. A physics teacher at the local school read this to a class, as a practical example of the importance of reducing the coefficient of drag. One 16 year old boy absolutely refused to believe that this was true, on the grounds that a) no one would write to a newspaper on such a topic, and b) no motorist would ever think of doing such a comparison. -
Failed gearbox in VW Golf 8 Feb 2006 (Forum)
A few weeks ago, the diff failed in the gearbox of our 3 year old VW Golf (an import) which caused a hole in the gearbox casing - we were left with a huge bill for a new gearbox and a new clutch - we're currently corresponding with VW, but so far no joy, but we'll keep battling on. -
Corrosion from road salt after drying 1 Feb 2006 (Forum)
I use a dehumidifier in my garage, and I assume that this will make washing the car to remove the salt less important. As I'm retired my car doesn't get used every day, so it has a chance to dry. Incidentally, I understand that "gritters" don't spread grit nowadays ~ it's totally rock salt. Am I right? -- L\'escargot. -
Golf MkV headlights 23 Sep 2005 (Forum)

Avensis, Mazda 6 or Mondeo? 20 Sep 2005 (Forum)
It MUST have Auto box and cruise control, I would ideally like sat. nav. and diesel - which rules out all of them except the Ford. Most important, it must be reiable. What do you think? Don
