FPN court summons for driving with No insurance !! 14 Feb 2021 (Forum)
Hi there, I'm new to this forum and I'm searching for info regrading my dilemma but there's hardly any info regarding this on the web. On 30/09/2019 my cousin financed a new Audi A3. it was his first automatic car and he asked me to show him the ropes so he insured me on it temporarily ( for a one month period ) at approximatively 9AM . The car was delivered at 5PM with a complementary one week insurance on his name. -
Buying a new car - Needing your advice: Is this legal and honourable? 3 Jul 2019 (Forum)
He said that the interest cost would be negligable and that in doing so, I could save can extra circa £950 - or thereabouts off the new price of the car. This would be with the recognised finance brokers for the manufacturer. Furthermore, he said that many of his customers had done just this. What do you think: on first appearance, it does appear to be a good idea but we all know the maxim "if is seems to be too good a thing etc etc. -
Dacia Sandero - End of PCP - Advice? 13 Jun 2019 (Forum)
PCP suits my son because of the known budget outlay, the lack of risk of big bills, the reliability, etc. The car has been excellent. He is considering financing the balloon payment and hanging onto the car for the time being (perhaps until the warranty expires) which removes the time pressure. Then he can take his time to find a suitable replacement and reasonable deal. -
Any - After market warranties. 6 Sep 2017 (Forum)
Additionally, the garage where I bought the car has given me 12 months parts and labour warranty up to a limit of 500 quid per claim. Our finances are tight and the only bit of slack I could find in order to absorb other expenses was that after market warranty. So I’ve cancelled it, but somehow and despite having the other warranties it feels like I’ve just put my comfort blanket in the bin. -
Citroen C4 BlueHDi100 - Potential power steering fault 14 Feb 2017 (Forum)
I have recently bought a C4 BlueHDI100 new from a Citroen dealer simply because it was well equipped, comfortable and had exceedingly cheap finance after all the discounts (what can I say, cheapskate). After having a Peugeot, Citroen and Renault before I've never really had problems. The car has covered 2200 miles in about 1.5 months from new. -
VW Golf TDI Diesel - Help - recurring problems since purchase. 26 Oct 2016 (Forum)
I've been looking at the Consumer's right act 2015, so I can request for full refund but I worry that I will be out of pocket because the first half is deposit and the latter is finance. I worry if the car dealer will fob me off as I need a car to commute to work. Please help, Im at my wits end. -
Jaguar XJ8 - HPI shows different model (Executive / Sovereign) 6 Jan 2016 (Forum)
I've just done an HPI check and it seems to check out all fine: JAGUAR PETROL AUTO - 5 GEAR 4-DOOR SALOON BLACK NO OUTSTANDING FINANCE NO COLOUR CHANGES NO IMPORT/EXPORT NO PLATE CHANGES NEVER BEEN SCRAPPED The only thing that's bugging me is that I was under the impression it was an Executive model. -
The impossible quest....! 31 May 2014 (Forum)
I've got a 57 plate MX5 with average mileage to p/x or sell, and a few thousand cash.If I can get a good finance deal on something newer/better then I will consider it, even though it's not a norm for me. Suggest away! Reasons please - I spend a long time researching my cars, even down to tyre types and costs, so all info and detail helps! -
Audi Q3 - Advice on test driving an Audi Q3 without buying 10 Feb 2014 (Forum)
Having looked at the options I think my wife and I are set on going down the leasing route. I know it has its pros and cons, but overall we don't want finance on something that's going to depreciate so quickly. Having had a good look around we found the following deals http://www.intelligentcarleasing.com/deals/audi/q3/ which seem to be pretty competitive when comparing against other contracts on the contract hire and leasing comparison site. -
Ford Ka - Used car Interest again previous plate/ no v5 29 Nov 2013 (Forum)
Arranged an AA inspection purely as it's a cat d- will be happening today However- as a further exercise in dotting is and crossing ts, got a HPI check Came up with outstanding finance against the plate- which disappeared from the record when the VIN was put in. However the warning remains "Interest registered against a previous plate" I have no idea what this means- the garage aren't aware of the vehicle ever having a personalised plate However, they are unable to supply me with the V5C details as the car was previously written off, and therefore the v5 has to be reapplied for by the new keeper, and they "don't want to make it look like it's had an additional owner" It's the sort of thing I would usually ask my dad about, but he isn't around anymore, hence any help at all would be appreciated It doesn't quite feel too good to be true, the garage seemed genuine enough although inhabiting the strange world of repairing cat ds. -

Vauxhall Astravan - Vauxhall dealer refusing to budge on screen price 13 Jan 2011 (Forum)
Spoke to the dealer today to ask what their "best" price was and apparently the "best" they can do for me is to include 1 year tax.... and that's it, as they claim the price is already heavily reduced from the list price, which is apparently RRP £17492 according to their site (for the base model). I'll be paying cash for it with no finance deal or PX but I've got to be honest I am just slightly annoyed that I'm essentially being given the choice to pay the screen price or do one, especially considering it's January which is traditionally a slow sales month. -
Astra/Focus/C4? £3.5K used... or brand new? 12 Nov 2009 (Forum)
The inevitable step has to be considered.... a new car with £3000 scrappage on the old Citroen, 3yrs warranty and a 3yr service package levered into the deal plus 0% finance which would allow savings to be left in the bank for a bit longer. Now quite confused. Any thoughts on car choice in the Focus/Astra class and best price level to buy at much appreciated. -
Renault Laguna III (2007 - ) - My Supermarket experience gone wrong! 21 Apr 2009 (Forum)
I purchased a 2008 Renault Laguna Dynamique S (series 3) yesterday from a car supermarket Despite requesting an annual service (its first), it wasn't completed and I had to wait for them to complete whilst I was there (this was after a 150 trip there) but I thought the purchase price of 8,999 was reasonable. Having signed the paperwork (PCP finance with Bank of Scotland) I drove the car away. On the trip back it was obvious the tracking was out on the car but then more alarmingly the car computer registered that an oil top up was needed. My concern is that despite my service booklet being stamped by the car supermarket has the service been a token gesture? -
What fuel consumption gaffs/efforts have you made 1 Apr 2008 (Forum)
(sold after 87,000 miles after losing me a fortune in mileage claims) 4) Its replacement, the 1.6 petrol auto Maestro that eventually got down to 23mpg on long runs as its main jet wore due to the rubbing needle. Sold in desperation as it needed leaded petrol too. 5) The saviour of my finances, in the early 90`s recession, the new Maestro Clubman D, that could get 60MPG, drew max car allowance and ran for 130,000 miles. Boring after that as i had learnt a lesson, but for some reason as the years went on and fuel consumption became less of an issue for the pocket, it became an issue for the mind.... -
not another out of company car Q :o) 6 Dec 2007 (Forum)
RFL is 200 a year thats £16 a month, so say £60 a month for them two. so got £300 a month, thats about £6000 finance over two years. so the only choices to me are (and company stipulate it has to be under 4 years old and 60K miles or less) peugeot 407 saloon/hatch/estate hdi -£7K honda accord 2.2 cdti. -£6500 would love bmw 330d - 4 door m sport - but £12K ! -
Peugeot 607 - sanity check? 19 Dec 2006 (Forum)
With the current '00 1.8 petrol Vectra just short of 100k, I am planning my shortlist for a replacement - which finances depending - should occur around 2008ish and 130k on the clock. One of the cars on my future shortlist will probably be another Vectra (2.2 SRi diesel) but I have become rather intrigued by the 607 (the twin turbo 2.2 Hdi). -
BMW Auction Report.. 18 Oct 2006 (Forum)
But the one thing that WAS apparent, out of the entry, all from the brand, directly, either their group stock, or leased/financed vehicles, was that more than 60 were repossessions!!! Not only that, plenty had 2/3/4 PREVIOUS owners & incomplete histories. A sure sign of the hard to keep up with, cost of running a premium motor - or maybe the difficulties, many people might be heading for, when £$£$£ gets a bit tight!
