Honda Jazz - Buy at 3, sell at when? 5 Apr 2015 (Forum)
It has been fantastic and I have had no serviceability problems, but it has been surprisingly expensive to run and has cost me 12,000 pounds including depreciation. I am considering selling it and taking advantage of the Yaris zero per cent deal and would be interested in the Forum's thoughts on the best time to sell a vehicle before fault rectification costs begin to increase. -
BMW Z4 - Buy/Lease/New/Used 20 Feb 2015 (Forum)
So I dont know what to do, these are my questions: 1. Buy/lease/lease-buy (not sure what thats called) 2. Dont buy, run car into the ground 3 Doing high miles in new car, is that a bad idea? 4. Fianacing, or not I know that that is a large scope and it propbably opens up a lot more questions but I just don't know what to do, any help would be appreciated. -
VW Lupo GTi - Recommendation for sporty city car 9 Feb 2015 (Forum)
I thought of the Lupo GTi as it seems to be a shrunken version of my old A3, but those cars are 10-15 years old now, and I'm sure that there are more modern equivalents which are out there. Presumably a small diesel is out of the running due to the high proportion of short journeys we do. Budget of up to 4k-ish. Any ideas? -
Dodge Nitro - fault code P0087 6 Jan 2015 (Forum)
When I took it to get the engine management light reset the code was P0087 so I replaced the fuel filter and put a diesel cleaner through it and no problems until 2 weeks ago when symtoms returned ie needing jump to start the car and the fault code is the same, done same as before and great for 3 days then car went into limp mode started again to go out and has been running great again (but engine man light still on ) but had to jump start any suggestions on what I can do now, cheers, Andy.......... -
Ford Focus - Hesitancy on accelerating after slowing down 16 Dec 2014 (Forum)
And this is where it gets weird, after that for the rest of the journey the car runs absolutely perfectly. Pulls smoothly, good fuel consumption. No problems at all. When I next turn the engine on, the light stays out and I may or may not get my ‘overrun kangaroo’ back. -
VW Gold Tdi 1.9 Tdi 2007 - Juddering Mech says problem with fuel injectors 10 Dec 2014 (Forum)
Hello, I own a VW Golf 1.9 Tdi and recently the Emission warnining light came on (PD Engine), I took it to a local garage after running the diagnostic they informed me that the injector is faulty as well as the glo valve and it will take £700 to repair (with original VW parts). Just wanted to know if the cost the garage stated is correct? -

Morgan - Nostalgia, or not ! 3 Nov 2014 (Forum)
He spent about two years working on it and returned it to showroom condition. On the first run he made in the car he planned to fill the tank with fuel at a garage on the main road so he stopped on the crown and waited for an opportuinty to turn in. A Jaguar driver didn't see him and ran into his back, buckling the car considerably. -
Volvo 940 warm/hot start problem 31 Oct 2014 (Forum)
It's not a major problem, mainly annoying but I recall a similar fault on my old Rover 800 which was much harder to restart and was never resolved. Other than this, the car runs fine (touching wood as I type !!!). ps. The MAF sensor was recently cleaned and replaced following an engine management (lambda) warning light problem which has not recurred to date (more touching of wood). -
Ford Fiesta - Ford Fiesta x reg only blowing hot air 12 Oct 2014 (Forum)
I thought it was a faulty HCV so got another one and still have the problem. When the engine is off and the ignition is turned to on (so the engine is not running) it blows cold air on cold but as soon as you turn th engine on the hot air comes out. The thermostat was changed only a couple of months ago. Have had a look at the control knob and no lose wires behind it. -
Yaris 1.4D T3 2004 - STIFF GEAR-CHANGE AFTER SERVICE 11 Sep 2014 (Forum)
One quite a large dealer, so from my experience I'm totally lacking trust in these people) The Yaris has over 100,000 miles on it and has been virtually fault free and provides 70MPG on a run. I'm wondering if there is anything I can check to see if the garage has made a change in the hope that I'll sell it and buy another from them. -
Peugeot 206cc 2001 1.6 16v - Help, Peugeot 206cc 1.6 cranks over when cold 9 Sep 2014 (Forum)
206 1.6 engine, ok so, 85% time almost starts first/2nd attempt, but...mainly when cold, i.e first thing in the morning, it just cranks over, it takes about 9 or 10 attempts BUT will always start eventually, When the engine is or has been run in for a few miles, it will nearly always start again with no issues, But not always.. Is this some sort of immobilizer issue? I have no warning lights on display when driving, but all lights are on when on ignition, its been on a diagnostic but no codes were displayed, ?? -
Neighbours car - New Tyres Please 8 Sep 2014 (Forum)
My neighbour has a 13 year old VW bora/jetta 20 diesel which runs quite well, and has the usual glitch of the abs light coming on intermittently, and is disinclined to fix it due to the age of the car and cost, although using this forum have pointed him in the way of fixes. -
Ford Fiesta - Radiator fan not working causing overheating 17 Aug 2014 (Forum)
Had to call AA out and found that the fan was not kicking in. To keep me on the road he modified to wiring by bridging to the battery making it run permanently but was unsure what was causing the issue. He did state that the head gasket didn't seem to be a problem and water pump was not making any noises. The problem I now have is where do I start to try and get this fan working again. -
Vauxhall - Vivaro - 06 1.9 - Engine Stalling 9 Aug 2014 (Forum)
Then if i try to start the engine it just turns over on the starter. When i leave the van for 1 - 2hours, come back and it starts again and runs with no problems. The EML light is on, and i bought a opcom usb cable/software off ebay and it gave me the dtc of :p1804, I can't find any reference of this code to a Vivaro, does anyone have any ideas what the problem could be, or what the error code is? -
Cardiologist and the mechanic 30 Jul 2014 (Forum)
So how is that I make £40,000 a year and you make £1.7M when you and I are doing basically the same work?" The cardiologist paused, leaned over and whispered, "Try doing it with the engine running." -
Grand Prix - exciting? 9 Jul 2014 (Forum)
They have now changed to V6 turbo's for, apparently, emissions purposes. It is race, not an economy run, and I think it's a step too far. They sound like glorified hoovers (unlike the older generation cars in the Mansell era), and unless a bit of rain is throw into the mix, it is all a bit anodyne. -
citroen xsara picasso - rattleing 1 Jul 2014 (Forum)
hi all hope someone can put me in the right direction..ive got a 2001 lx 1.6 citroen xsara picasso,i got it motd and it had 2 advisories, both being the balljoints,on my 2001 lx model i had to get the full wishbones as the balljoints are intergrated on them. i got them both changed and the car was as smooth as ice, then all of a sudden when im driving the car it sounds like a bag of spanners. what i mean is that its very rattlelly on the front end. ive had the wishbones checked over again to make sure all the connercting nuts are tight and they are.im just wondering if the droplinks or the anti roll bar bushes may need changing. the car runs great just that its very rattley from the front end. anyway any suggestions welcome..thanks. -
Vauxhall Zafira 2010 petrol 1.6 - MOT fail on lambda reading. engine light also on. 1 Jul 2014 (Forum)
The MOT failed on the Lambda reading (it was 1.34) but the garage say they don't know what the issue is and we have to go to vauxhall dealer to get diagnostics run to discover problem. Is this correct or should they have at least had an idea what the issue was. Does anyone have any ideas of what it may be and how it can be fixed. Thanks for any advice
