Ive explained to them that when I pull away and want to excelarate, the car hesitate, I then have to dip the clutch to get it to go faster!! The mechanic at VW said maybe I should drive it harder, but it already using more fuel than I think I should!! Im at a loss and my warranty runs out this March!!
  • argh dealers 19 Feb 2004 (Forum)
My ford Ka is due for a 30k service, and as it is now out of warranty i don't really fancy paying 200 odd quid for the privilage, but i would still like the appropriate work done (as a student now 20k in debt i need to save all i can). so i phoned a couple of dealerships and their own fast fit chain, and was told on many occasions, that as the car is a ford they will not do anything unless its a dealership prices.
  • BMW 320D vs F48 X1 24 Apr 2023 (Forum)
I have found a 320d 2015 with 72k approved BMW used example at £12k and a 2017 X1 18d for £14k with similar mileage. Both are automatic as I only have automatic license I understand 3 series is a much better car for driving enjoyment.
  • Vw Passat 07 plate - Just bought a used car which has a issue 14 Sep 2016 (Forum)
I did my research and crossed that on my list as that certainly isn't the cause. After that I asked for one of the engineers to sot in the car and he said it is properly the fly wheel. They kept it in all day and as I went to collect it they saod due to the age and the milage there's nothing they can do. Where if it was a new car they would swap the fly wheel straight away.
  • SEAT Ibiza ST Reference 1.6 diesel - Fuel economy 2 Jul 2011 (Forum)
The fuel economy is an additional pleasant surprise. Next year we shall be changing my partner's car and we both are convinced that another Seat will join us.
  • VW Polo GTI - Used car problems - help with rejecting car 28 Dec 2016 (Forum)
However the whole thing has got me quite worried about the car and I feel as if it's just a ticking time bomb to be honest. I've looked into rejecting the car but it seems I must give them one opportunity to repair the car before I have case for rejection. Anyone any tips for me if possible?
  • VW Polo 2018 - Accident repair question 21 Jan 2019 (Forum)
Today I had pretty much reversed out of a parking space when I heard a bang. Someone had reversed out of the space opposite, and the rear of their car had gone into the side of my car, destroying the passenger door and part of the sill beneath. I’ve gone through LV insurance, and they suggested using their approved repairer, ABL in Portsmouth. I will get a courtesy car which is excellent.
  • Ford Focus - Best car to buy? 13 Apr 2013 (Forum)
Focus seems to win on MPG,space speed price looks and just about everything, the car will come from a dealer with a 3 month warranty although not a ford dealer,is this really just a bad choice of car,as its to my understanding that the focus was the best selling car in britain so common faults are more often talked about than other cars.
  • Skoda Octavia I (1998 - 2004) - Contradictory cambelt advice 10 Nov 2007 (Forum)
I bought a 2003, 53 plate Skoda Octavia vRS from a main dealer in July 2007. A condition of the sale was that the car was serviced according to manufacturers guidelines prior to collection. In addition to this as an "approved used car" it is subject to 1 years extended manufacturers warranty / RAC breakdown cover.
  • Car choice dilemma - £5-7k 8 Sep 2007 (Forum)
Hi there, As many of you may be aware, I am not satisfied with my 1.6 TDCi 110 LX Focus, 5dr 06-reg. Having paid £9,000 I actually consider it disappointing as an all-round car (handling inferior to old model, no real equipment e.g. computer, heated front screen, alloys etc, and the interior is a let down, feeling cheaper in areas than the old Focus), and I really need about £2,000 for other personal uses, so I have decided to sell the car.
  • Toyotal Corolla Verso - Head Gasket Issues on Toyota Corolla Verso D4D 19 Oct 2015 (Forum)
I now feel like Toyota weren't completely honest with us when we brought the car - had I known of this issue I would have asked for the engine to be replaced under warrantly before paying out of £6000 for the car. I would therefore like to ask if anyone has any experience of this issue and what resolution you had with Toyota as we can't afford the engine replacement or a new car since all our savings went into this car and it has left me feeling ripped off and mistrusting of any car manufacturer.
  • VW cc 2016 - VW Group cars with 02252 Generator fault on OBD 20 Jun 2020 (Forum)
So a typical short drive with start stop heated seats lights on etc will take more out of the battery!!!  So many are using SMART battery chargers which is fine if the car is parked up for weeks but a modern car should be able to be parked for two weeks and start up ??? If you have the 02252 generator fault code and U100800 error then please get the modified wiring harness fitted this goes from the Alternator/generator to the battery.

Hello, first time poster and first time potential new car buyer. Previous to now I've always bought used cars but my wife is due to give birth to our first kid fairly soon and she's  quite keen on this car as a family car.
  • Skoda Yeti 1.2 6 speed manual gearbox. - A cautionary tale 1 Mar 2019 (Forum)
I bought a 64 reg Yeti from a Skoda main dealer in March 17, with 12,500 miles on the clock. I was assured that it had been a Skoda courtesy car, and fully serviced. SInce then I had it serviced at the required intervals, and always using the services recommended by the Skoda main dealer. The car has now just done 29,000 miles, when a whining noise appeared from the front of the car.
  • Astra 1.6 ecotec d - Astra 19 Plate Clutch Issue 9 Jul 2019 (Forum)
When it happened revs were all over the place and gear notifications went berserk, but car didnt go into limp mode. Taken to dealership who are going to look at it under warranty. Astra 1.6 eco d 19 plate only 5500 miles on the clock, and driven normally not ragged! Managed to get images of fault messages on dash to as back up evidence.
  • Honda UK This countrys debt of Honour 27 Jun 2016 (Forum)
I do not presently own a Honda but previous dealings with Honda have shown me what an honourable company they are when it comes to warranty. Perahaps those of us who want to fly the flag for Britain ought to be examining their concience and buying Honda.
  • vauxhall corsa 1.7d sri - my sons corsa 29 Aug 2014 (Forum)
the fuel sensor was replaced at 2- 3 weeks..car kept cutting out wheel bearing went at approx 6 weeks heater blower motor was intermittent from the start..now just being replaced by warranty as it has a sporty exhaust..we believed it to be a bit noisier than normal from the start..but it now turns out it needs a particulate filter (vaux dealer has quoted a price of £1200) and garage will not  agree to repair.
  • '04 Golf 2.0 GT FSI - Software update? 20 Feb 2007 (Forum)
I wait to see if he has. I am however a little concerned, because I am coming to the end of the warranty period and would have thought that inappropriate software would have caused a long-running problem, from day 1, rather than prompt a sudden misfire, after c.25,000 miles? Sadly, I used to be able to restore/fix/understand just about anything automotive, but since cars have gone electronic........!
  • HDI injectors (again!) 11 Jan 2007 (Forum)

  • X-type 2.5 Sport Driver central locking 22 Jan 2006 (Forum)
Unfortunately it is one of those intermittent problems that only seems to happen when the wife is using the car! Now as I said the car was in the garage for repairs to the central locking system last year, so what I am wondering is, what is the likelyhood of a problem with one of the linkages inside the door?
