Hyundai i20 - Hyundai i20 paintwork 19 Sep 2020 (Forum)
The other day I very, very stupidly drove too close to the pillar at the end of the driveway (trying to avoid the bins, I should have just got out and moved them...sigh), and it left a fine scratch across the left rear passenger door about 10cms above the handle and extended very slightly over to the next panel. Weeks ago I also turned into a side bollard trying to get out of a parking space (I know, I know, genuinely didn't see it - it was very short and I noticed the other bollard opposite had been knocked over!! -
Please help me choose a diesel estate car 25 Feb 2013 (Forum)
Upshifts seem to be ok, and most of the other gears are fine, but it sounds like a common problem based on some internet searching. When driving on very wet roads, we also get some electrical faults for the side lights when turning and something else to do with the electric power steering. -
Credit Repair & Hire - Possible Disputes? 13 Sep 2011 (Forum)
Hi, My car was involved in an accident about 3 weeks ago. In summary, my car (Nissan 350Z 3.5l V6) was parked along a street next to a Showhome we were viewing at the time. The guy living across the street reversed and hit my driver side door. Fortunately he drop by and spoke with the sale advisor regarding the damage he caused. -
I bought an Almera 24 Feb 2006 (Forum)
I'm very pleased :) Having done my testing, here's a few comments on the Almera: Likes: * good forward visbility, no serious blindspots * ride comfort adequate, not as good as an old French car, but felt better than a Focus * handling is fine: feels very secure and predictable, mercifully free of excitement * autobox smooth, road noise low, engine quiet in normal use (growlier when kickdown used, but it's fast enough for me that won't be needed much) * brakes powerful and progressive (no snatch) * seats and driving position comfortable, lots of adjustment (though no reach adjustment on wheel) * plenty of room in the back for two adult women with two adults in the front, boot quite generous * stereo sounds good in both front and back * leather steering wheel nice to hold, minor controls easy to use * steel wheels rather than alloys Dislikes: * poor rear visibility, redeemed a bit for parking by the bleeping sensors * speedometer in the facelifted model not as legible as in earlier Almeras (smaller, with numbers only at 20mph intervals). -
Bad overtake? 6 Oct 2010 (Forum)
At the time/place I started the overtake there were no oncoming vehicles, no entrances, no parked vehicles and not even any pedestrians on the other side of the road. So completely the wrong side of the road was the place to be. I did tell her this, but I didn't want to argue too much because I knew that she wouldn't do anything. -
Fiat Panda - Malta car hire scam 7 May 2013 (Forum)
The staff were very helpful and friendly, but the documentation took ages and then we had to walk around the block a time or two to even find the vehicle, as parking around there is impossible. We then went over the car with the finest tooth-comb I've ever met and every tiny scratch or dent was marked on the booking out sheet, No bad thing in a way, but a bit tedious. -
The complete driver. Why worry? 27 Apr 2003 (Forum)
While the sporting man may prefer a saloon of competent power and statesmanlike presence, there are several models more suited to the distaff side. Women, as is well known, lack fine skills in co-ordination or mechanical sympathy. Many manufacturers make large, four-wheel drive models specifically for the wifely duties of collecting offspring from school. With their rugged bumpers and large tyres, these specialist cars are ideal for coping with pedestrians, awkward parking places and crossing patrol wardens. -
Had An Accident Today - Uninsured Pilloc 25 Apr 2006 (Forum)
Hello, Drving along in nose to tail traffic earlier today in my home city with the Mrs and daughter - a car ran into the rear bumper on our newish AudiS2. The fool had parked at a rightangle to the road in front of some close gates and as we passed, it started revesing slowly, we had to stop as it was stop start traffic - the guy crashed into our car and make it wobble and loud bang - the damage appeared hefty as its our car and cost us a lot, well a lot to us any way. -
My 1st month, 3300 miles, with an S-Max 1 Aug 2007 (Forum)
t want my loins to be that active, I?m sure that is of interest to some of you reading this!!! Watch the width in car parks though ? modern car parks aren?t designed for cars this wide and you may end up with dented/scratched doors as other cars open their doors up on your car!!! Summary All in all this is a great car. -
Ford Focus 1.6 TDCI - What are my rights after buying a car privately? 15 Oct 2013 (Forum)
Before I had the chance to even pop the bonnet and check it over the old boy had to get back to his flat and do what ever old boys do and said "it's ok you can drive the car because your insured as I am fully comp on it" I started the engine after he went in and it appeared to sound fine, a little smoke but what I expected from a diesel (so I've been told) Drive slowly home about two miles away as it didn't have much fuel and parked it up over night. The next day I done all the insurance etc but had no reason to go out anywhere so the car stayed there over night again and the next morning I had to get up and take my partner home which is a 80 mile single trip and I was looking forward to it. -
New (Motability) car 15 May 2023 (Forum)
Con's: Not much really, just the concerns mentioned earlier about the drivability of this type of gearbox. Spec is fine in isolation but misses out on some of what the Bayon comes with. Skoda Yeti - My third Yeti 22 Sep 2015 (Forum)
My previous Yeti ownership comprised a 2009 1.2 TSI SE, followed by a 2012 Urban TDI. I ran the TSi for 10K miles / 1 year and found it just a little bit underpowered. It was fine around town, but struggled when fully loaded with either passengers or luggage. The car actaully retained a phenomenal 90% of it's new cost when traded in at 1 year (presumably due to the waiting list at the time). -
A week with an MG3 26 Jun 2014 (Forum)
The ride is firm but the damping feels grown up and expensive. The steering, which is needlessly heavy at parking speed and goes weirdly light in a straight line, gets better when you’re acting like a helmsmith. There’s even some sense of the grip and conditions being experienced by the front wheels. -
My first 6 weeks with a 520d 15 Jul 2012 (Forum)
The car has quite a long wheelbase which combined with an ‘average at best’ steering lock and thick pillars makes car parks sometime challenging. I am more than competent at driving (ex HGV1) but it is a large car with restricted vision in smaller spaces. Drive slowly and it’s fine. The upside of this is that on the road, it is supremely relaxing and just eats up the miles. -
2500km in a Citroen Xantia 17 Feb 2002 (Forum)
Also, a nice shelf and extendable cover for the whole thing ? which is especially useful in high-risk parking areas. The suspension was difficult to assess ? at least by me. I do accept someone else?s point that given the type of cars I normally drive, it isn?t a fair comparison. However, when fully loaded the car still behaved ? -
Zafira 1.6 2007 - Nightmare trader/mechanics- Zafira 26 Apr 2018 (Forum)
Halfway home it came back on again (I live 30miles from the garage) They told me to bring it in and I couldnt because my partner was about to give birth any day and we needed the car (they said it would be fine to drive on so I did - though as little as possible). Then the day after my son was born the clutch pedal had a weird click when starting to depress (the mechanic has since said this is just a spring and tough luck if it annoys me). -
BMW 5-Series E61 Touring (2004 - ) - 25,000km report BMW 530d 9 Jun 2009 (Forum)
edition which gives you loads of nice goodies like metallic paint, heated comfort seats, nappa leather, park distance control and xenon much cheaper than if you ordered them separately. It rather spoils the effect by also including chromed windscreen washer jets which look like they just escaped from a Cadillac Escalade and which cannot be deleted when ordering. -
Grand Scenic - full review. 3 May 2007 (Forum)
It all works too. We have already fallen in love with the keyless operation, but I still don't like the electric parking brake, even if it does, in fairness, work very well. Practicality The boot is vast, which is why we went for the Grand ( we won't need the 7 seats more than very occasionally). I like the way the rear seats slide forwards to give more bootspace, or rearwards to give more legroom. -
Forced out of car due to insurance blunder Vol 2. 15 Oct 2008 (Forum)
Again I have to get permission to leave the police vehicle and go and inform Jane what's happening. Eventually, my father-in-law arrives, is directed by the police to park on the bridge over the motorway on the interchange itself where, by this time, there is another police vehicle parked. Coincidently the recovery vehicle arrives at the same time and lines up in front of my car on the hard shoulder.
