• Ford Galaxy - An issue on a test drive 11 Apr 2016 (Forum)
  Hello all Well i went to available car and found a 2010 ford galaxy 2.0 tdci zetec , 50k miles 3 owners £10k fair price for a galaxy , all was good till test drive, its an automatic and idling in park was good, we gave it some and sounded as normal etc, only from PARK to DRIVE then it started to judder, low revs and then cuts out. Tried a few times and same thing, once you start moving though it works fine, got plenty of power, smooth gear changing etc , until you slow at a junction, it starts to judder slightly but doesnt cut out, just seems to do it when you first pop it in Drive ..

  I now use this as a second car and is used for any rough / commuting jobs. Have had a problem with the ABS light on the dash. Went to a festival a few weekends ago. Parking a nightmare and due to the lake of mud in car park, had to be towed out of field by a tractor. Resultant mud in the wheel arch, suspention mounts and brakes was severe. All has been cleaned now but the ABS warning light has been going on and off intermittently.

  It failed on one of the checks only: When the handbrake is applied, it applies only 11% percent pull on the rear right hand wheel. 11% is below the legal minimum requirement. In other words the parking brake for the right handside rear wheel has a "low effort". The parking brake effort for the rear left hand wheel is fine. THANKS Roses are red, Violets are blue, How about adding the year/engine info, Like we have asked you to do!
• Changing A 1998 Ford Fiesta Headlight 1 Jul 2007 (Forum)
  I need to change the passenger side headlight bulb on my 1998 ford fiesta zetec 1.25. It turns on to parking light OK but when I turn it up to my main driving lights it stays on the parking light. If I switch on full beam then it works OK. Ive bought a new driving light bulb but I cant for the life of me figure out how to get to the headlight housing as there is all sorts of engine chassis and tubes etc in the way.
• Citroen C3 - creaking power steering 5 Jun 2011 (Forum)
  Ive recently had the power steering rack and motor replaced on my wifes C3 1.4 desire. The steering works fine now however when stationary if you turn the steering wheel lock to lock there is a creaking noise, the noise also occurs at low speeds ie manouvering of drive, parking etc. The sound appears to be coming from the steering rack area.

  By way of evidence, I've seen girls of 17, with no experience, learn to drive in an Army HGV 3 lorry, never taking a car test, and they managed fine. As Lud and others on the thread point out, many larger cars are far more relaxing, refined and just as easy to position, even in tight parking spaces.
• VW Mk2 Golf - coolant system trapped air 30 Jul 2004 (Forum)
  I say this because the coolant temperature dial stays at zero and the temperature sensor for the dial is fixed at the top of the thermostat housing. The coolant temperature dial has moved briefly to it's normal position only after parking the car on a hill though. The radiator and thermostat works fine. How do I purge the trapped air?
• 2 Fines for Continuous Offence 18 May 2023 (Forum)
     I received a letter dated 22/03/2023 with an out of court settlement payment offer of £85 for the offence of keeping an unlicensed vehicle, citing the date of 08/02/2023 when my car had been spotted in violation of the law parked where it was. It allowed me until 4/04/2023 to settle the fine which I did promptly.  In April I received a letter dated 20/04/2023 citing the same offence but the date of 10/03/2023 - when the car had been clamped - demanding another out of court settlement of £113 payable by 5/05/2023.

  I have a 1998 Nissan Almera. I parked it up the other day and it wouldn't start. Tried to bump start it but nothing, it just turns over and isn't firing....
• Ford Mondeo - Ford mondeo 2001 tddi cuts out after 8 seconds 19 Nov 2014 (Forum)
  Cut the wires, Put 12v directly to the lift pump and got it going, bled the pipes and car started fine. Drove it for an hour or so, stopping and starting all the while running the lift pump from the cigarette lighter, (although it seemed to run fine without the pump running). Parked up for a few hours, next time I started the car, it started fine but cut out after 8 seconds.

  I received an early present on Christmas Eve, a £60 penalty for overstaying by 35 minutes on the pay and display at Waterhead car park in Ambleside recently....

  Remote unlocking OK Interior light, red LEDs OK. Turn ignition key and the whole of dash stays blank. Take key out and try parking lights and they do not work. A little while later all is fine and working. 12.65V on battery terminals and on the engine block. The battery terminals look spotless but not greased. I will disconnect both terminals, clean them with fine emery paper, reconnect and grease em.

  Last week I was issued with a PCN for a 2-hour overstay in a local municipal car park. As the minimum penalty was a £30 fine and because I believed that I had good grounds I decided to appeal. Posted off my letter at the beginning of the week. Today I received a reply advising me that the PCN had been cancelled.
• Vauxhall Astra 1.6 - Spark Plugs And Coil Pack 31 Oct 2024 (Forum)
  He took the car off and went to collect the spark plugs , he came back about 20 mins later. No warnings light and the car drove fine. After changing the park plugs , he told us to drive around the car park whilst he kept his diagnostic machine in and his laptop. Car seems fine and we’re about to go after paying him £50 for the spark plugs when all of a sudden the ESP light comes on again.
• Nissan Almera Tino - Car stalling out 1 Mar 2017 (Forum)
  We'd called Green Flag and waited about 2 hours for them to arrive. He had to jump the battery but it drove home about 8 miles away just fine. He followed me home just in case.  I drove it again on the 17th and it was fine. On the 18th, it did the same again. But we'd only been on the road for 4 minutes. I parked it in town and had it towed to my garage on the 20th, and they held it there for me until it was booked in to be looked at.

  The Car is absolutely fine and does just what we want. No quibbles there and no doubts at all. Blodwen, our Collie has been diagnosed with arthritis and is on doggy iboprufen which is helping. She can't jump up into the boot anymore and is having difficulty getting into the back seat if I am not parked right by the kerb.

  My ford fiesta 1999 MK4 will now not start. i had a look at the engine and there was no spark, then had a look at the coil pack big crack. So i replaced the coil pack and the park plugs. there is sit no spark, coil pack, leads and spark plugs all fine and tested. if you have any suggestion please let me know.

  i have a nissan interstar , same as renault master van lwb, 2004 , 6 speed gear box, it was working fine and parked it up over night, the next day the clutch peddle goes to the floor... so it cant be driven, there is some oil leaking out, but not sure from where, i think it is possibly the slave cylinder, has anyone got any ideas, and how would i change it if it is ,,, why has this happened when not in use ?

  can any body help my wifes 216 has a starting problem when i turn the key it turns over fires then cuts out and if you keep trying it it will do the same i was towing it home the other night and i decided to try bumping it and it started and run fine parked it up tryed it the next morning and the same will not start again when i tryed to start the car you can hear the fuel pump buzz for a little wile thanks dave
