  • BMW X3 - Family Car 2 Oct 2013 (Forum)
Cabin space increase is not saying much really as the C Class hasquite limited legroom and headroom and most family cars seem larger these days. Higher driving position is more as I am tall (6' 3) and want to sit a bit higher in my seat. Off road and snow driving ability doesn't necessarily mean 4x4 as we don't live up a rubble track or anything (very small lanes and lots of reversing, but not much off road), it's just the C Class is totally useless, particularly in the snow as it is RWD.

  • Ford Fiesta. - Driving without displaying a valid RFL 2 Jun 2011 (Forum)
I bought a car today from CarGiant and had insurance for seven days from Aviva (and a current MOT) to drive it back to my home. In the back of my mind I know that it is a strict liability offence to drive a motor vehicle on a public highway without displaying a vaild RFL. The only exception I could find was if the vehicle is displaying "trade plates".
  • Bank holiday driving 25 Apr 2011 (Forum)
This afternoon i was driving down the dual carraigeway, in front of me was a Vauxhall Astra who forgets to look before they pull out, to the left of me is a driver in a Shogun on his phone, possibly talking to the guy behind him in a Mercedes C Class who was also on phone, quick glance in the rear view mirror sees a Corsa with a girl texting at the wheel, and all mixing in with foreign lorry drivers who still cant grasp we drive on the left.
  • Motorway driving standards 26 Mar 2011 (Forum)
I had a particularly frustrating drive down a section of the M4 in heavy spray this morning.  Lane 1 was almost empty, as usual there were a few members of the Centre Lane Owners' Group (CLOGs) in lane 2, and the consequence was that lane 3 was nose to tail with drivers staying out there for mile after mile, many driving much closer than seemed wise.
  • Unusual Insurance problem? 10 Jun 2008 (Forum)
Two months ago, I got my full British driving license, having passed my driving test at first attempt. A month ago I bought a Honda Accord executive diesel 2005 Reg. Then my problem started. Almost all insurance companies refused to offer me motor insurance of any kind saying I was uninsurable including Churchill that had my name on their insurance register for almost a year.

  • Motorway behaviour... 31 Aug 2006 (Forum)
It doesn't try to hold me up, it doesn't try to get me out of the way, it jjust seems to accept me. All together a much more peaceful drive to work. I know the easy thing to do is to say that I drive differently depending on which car I'm in, but I'm damn sure that I don't. I drive netiher faster nor slower, nor in one lane more than another.
  • Stupid Barriers At Uni 23 Apr 2004 (Forum)
The problem here is that the back entrance is 5 miles away by driving out of the main entrance and then taking the main road. So I drive in the back way and there are 2 more barriers on this side saying to use the front entrance but that didn\'t matter as I found a space.
  • Test drive accident 14 Apr 2004 (Forum)
Anyway, nearing the end of the drive which I took with my father, whilst we were just about decidng the car was good enough to buy, cruising happily (and overtaking on a slight bend)at 70mph when (this is the bits I remember) the car swerved in towards the car I was overtaking, then swerved the other way and the rest is a blur!
  • Update - new Yaris & the Learner Driver 5 Nov 2003 (Forum)
So far, so good - but I suppose now the nerves will really start (I mean mine!) .............. Oh and, once she has a bit more experience of driving on her own, we plan to get her some lessons just on the motorway - Passplus doesn't seem so necessary as she has already done bad weather, town centre, rural and driving in the dark as part of her ordinary driving instruction - and having got the insurance sorted, there is no financial gain to be had atm.
  • My daughter had an accident when she was a learner, without a qualified driver in the car - can her insurer ask for £10k to cover their losses? 27 Mar 2018 (Ask HJ)

  • BMW X1, Mercedes GLA, Audi Q3 - X1 vs GLA vs Q3 8 Feb 2016 (Forum)
I read really some great reviews about this engine on other sites. So I went for a test drive and simply loved it. It drives way better than the above two. The way the steering feels and responds is brilliant. It totally took the effort out of driving, especially when combined with the S-Tronic gearbox!
  • Audi A3 - Driving Another Car, Uninsured, Possible Penalties 13 Nov 2012 (Forum)
So, as I am unable to be without a car for work, I went and bought a second car which would allow me to drive it while my car was in the garage getting fixed for over a week. It also meant once I got my car back from the garage, she could use the new car. I had the guy selling the car to me drive to my house to drop off the new car with his brother.
