  • 50 years of Mercedes cars in Historics auction 25 Feb 2011 (News)
Between 1990 and 1999 the vehicle hardly turned a wheel other than for periodic servicing and cleaning.  For the last eleven years it has been used and enjoyed in Spain and England as part of a small collection of classic cars. In 2006 a professional refurbishment took place, which entailed a number of sensible upgrades allowing the vehicle to cope with 21 st  century motoring without spoiling its originality and patina.

Hire praise I felt I must write to commend Auto Europe & Enterprise Car rental who were involved in a recent car hire in Malaga, Spain. I always go through Auto Europe as they have an 0800 number and any operative I have spoken to are clear and concise and know the market.  In this instance I went with Enterprise (as they were rated best on the Auto Europe website) and an 8-day hire was £84.00, including full tank of fuel.  This was for a medium sized vehicle, which turned out to be an immaculate Toyota Auris with 7k kms.  At the Enterprise desk we were not hassled in any way to take the usual “add on” insurances and were given 2 bottles of water (a nice touch).  A full inspection of the vehicle was carried out before/after, again by very courteous staff.

That's why we see so many fields of yellow oil seed rape at this time of year. Not just in the UK; in Spain, Italy and France as well.   Towed haul I have a 2014 Honda 2.2 diesel CR-V, which I run normally in Eco mode and obtain good fuel economy. I am about to re-start towing my caravan and wonder if I should switch off the Eco mode whilst towing?

Our latest test of that here:  /road-tests/mazda/mazda-cx-5-22-se-l-nav-auto-2015-road-test//   Scouts honour On 19 March I was 60 miles from home in my 30k mile 2011 Skoda Octavia 1.8 TSI Scout (with which we regularly tow a caravan to Spain) when the “engine management” warning graphic flashed. I phoned my dealership (40 miles away but on the way to my home) and responded to their request to bring in the car for an inspection.
