Changing Omega V6 HT leads 4 Apr 2004 (Forum)
I have been assured that my HT leads need changing because of a missfire when it gets hot. A new set of plugs seem to do the trick but when it gets to 1000 to 2000 miles it starts to miss again. Can anyone let me know how to get to the dis between the bulkhead and the left bank ?. -
Ford Fusion 2 (2003) - Coil pack/leads! 4 May 2013 (Forum)
But, my garage put in another NEW coilpack and HT lead set ... and everything is just fine again. I wonder what are the chances of a new pack and leads going "bad" after a few days (perhaps 100 miles of running at most)? Anyone else seen this. -

Skoda CitigoYeti 1.2 petrol - Supermarket fuel 3 Aug 2013 (Forum)
Vehicle under 2 years old. Engine running rough. Simpsons of Colne discovered that number 3 plug lead was burned out. Diagnosed cause to be use of supermarket (Morrisons) fuel. Therefore not covered by warranty. Cost me £183 for new lead and 4 new plugs. I was shewn neither lead nor plugs and on enquiry was told that they had "gone". -
Starter motor firework display 3 Oct 2002 (Forum)
During removal of the old starter i failed to disconnect the battery (stuupid!} and had a lot of fireworks, consequently i replaced the burnt out negative battery lead and the negative lead from the battery to the starter motor housing located at the remote end of the starter motor (away from the the starter armature end). I have connected the positive lead from the battery to the solenoid main threaded connector, however when i connect the battery up i get fireworks at the battery terminal, so obviously stop at this stage, it is a descallier unit and 1986 renault 5 model. note that when dissambling the unit i could not visually see the connection of the direct battery negative lead to the starter casing,i discovered the loose lead only after my first attempt failed to turn the starter which by the way in this initial condition seemed to activate the solenoid plunger as a click was heard, as i kept the old starter unit i figured that the loose lead must have been taken off when i removed the remote end bolt, as the removal operation involved no visual contact with this fixing so i was not aware that anything had been disconnected. two questions. 1) Is the wiring correct i.e negative battery lead direct to the solenoid casing, positive to the solenoid main pin 2) If so why am i almost fried each time i connect up the battery terminals The remainder of the electrics lights wipers etc: are ok. without the negative lead to the solenoid hooked up of course Appreciate any tips anybody can offer > > joe corcoran > -
Ford Fiesta Flight 1.3 Endura E (mk4 02) - Lumenition / Splitfire / Magnecor HT Leads 22 Apr 2014 (Forum)
seen a set also on EuroCarParts for Endura engined Ford Ka's exactly same length (and another set that's different)..... but not sure if they're exactly the same... I know you can get Lumenition/Splitfire/Magnecor lead sets for the Ford Ka, but it doesn't mention if they fit my Fiesta too. Was looking at the Lumenition ones at Demon Tweeks (just would be listed in Inches while Eurocarparts has the Herth+Buss ones in metric), and getting 1x 30" (762mm) lead & 3x 36" (914.4mm) leads, but still not 100% positive with the one of the ones in the set listed on Eurocarparts being a teensy bit longer (930mm / 36.614") wasn't sure in case one of them ended up a bit short (unless I route it a bit different?). -

Leads off on battery charging? 21 Jan 2004 (Forum)
Can someone give me a definative answer to this? Is it strictly necessary to remove any of the battery leads when attaching a home battery charger to the battery on a modern car? Years ago I remember when we had dynamos it wasn't necessary but with the advent of alternaters I think there is now a link (electronic or wire etc) with the alternater even tho' the ignition is 'off'. -

Ford Ecotec Engines - Dissappointing emissions from class leading engine 24 Jun 2015 (Forum)
Dis anyone see the report in last Sunday Times about the levels of N0X emitted from the class leading Ecotec engines. Apparently higher than a Range Rover and from a 1 liter engine! Ford massaged the figures by publishing the rolling road results . But the everyday figures are a dissaster. -

I'm wanting to connect an MP3 player, with a USB connector, to the stereo system on my Hyundai Coupe. The car has a flying lead in the centre console for plugging into an iPod. Can I get an adaptor to connect up with my MP3 instead? If so what is it called. -
Jaguar mystery 31 May 2006 (Forum)
Pulling off any of the front three leads resulted in the car missing as one would expect. I thought it might be severely coked up and the explanation might be red-hot carbon around the exhaust valve seats in those three cylinders. But he said the car would start and run from cold with those leads disconnected. -
Vauxhall - 97 1.6 16v Ecotec. When to replace H T Leads? 4 May 2002 (Forum)
Have 1.6 16v Ecotec that is 5 years old and done 105,000 miles with no problems. Starts and runs fine but I'm wondering if I should replace the H T leads. How long do they last? I can remember the subject coming up here many moons ago and advice being given on measuring the resistance of each lead. Do they gradually deteriorate over time, so that you don't notice a loss of performance? -
HT Leads (expiring?) Polo 6 May 2005 (Forum)
A while ago, when I had trouble with the distributor, it was suggest to me (by Peter D I do believe) that the HT leads on these Polo?s are prone to developing high resistances and should be measured. So I have done just that. After a 25 minute drive, I pulled one and out measured the resistance. It should have been 5 Ohms, but this lead was 5.6. -
Ford Mondeo 1.8 zetec (52 plate) - passenger seat lead 16 Oct 2010 (Forum)
