  • Honda Concerto Fuel Pump 6 Jul 2006 (Forum)
1990 EFI . Loses power and will only respond when accellerator is pushed well down. Seems like lack of fuel but responds as mentioned. Full power still there.Replaced fuel filter, coil, ign switch. Swapped MAP & Throttle position sensors. No difference. Main relay ok. Do fuel pumps play up giving symptoms like this?
  • Diesel fuel filters - Renault 5 Jul 2005 (Forum)
Since 1996 Renault have extended their change intervals for fuel filters from 18000 to 36000 miles. Is this a result of clean, modern fuels or are they just stretching the interval for the sake of cost ? Can I risk the fuel filter on my 2002 Megane dCi for 36000 mls?
  • Audi A3 2.0 TDI 2006 - Does not start when fuel less than half a tank 27 Oct 2013 (Forum)
I took it to the Audi dealer and they first diagnosed fuel contamination (oil leaking in fuel perhaps?). Tank was emptied, new fuel filter and fuel lines cleared. Got the car back and same thing happened. Again I took it to the dealer and they then replaced the in tank fuel pump.
  • New improved regular Shell fuel coming soon 29 Jul 2010 (Forum)
Shell fuel stations are advertising new improved regular fuel coming soon. Does anyone have any news of what exactly this means ?
  • Mondeo Fuel Gauge 27 Jun 2007 (Forum)
Yes, another possible problem. When I bought the Mondeo (1997 2 litre Model) the guy told me he had filled it up with fuel. I now know that he is a habitual liar. The fuel guage reads MAX all the time, even with ignition off. Is the car full of fuel or is it just shorting out causing it to read max? I guess my main question is; Should the fuel gauge return to 'empty' with the ignition off.
  • Low Sulphur Diesel Fuel 6 Feb 2002 (Forum)
Your recent articles suggest that this fuel lacks lubricity. I have a 1996 Mercedes E Class, 300 diesel, with 68,000 miles and which I hope to keep for a very long time. On one occasion you sugested using Shell Plura which may help the longivity of the fuel pump, but this fuel is not available in my area.

  • Air in fuel 24 Jul 2003 (Forum)
Going to be changing the fuel filter on my peugeot 306 '94 xsi in a few days. Learnt about releasing the pressure here (just leave it overnight), but need to know if it would be a problem getting air in the fuel lines? I've been told that petrol injection doesnt like air in the fuel, so are there any precutions or after fitting remidies?

  • VW Polo Fuel Pump? 15 Apr 2003 (Forum)
Hi, I have a 1993 Polo Genesis. It konked out, and I traced the problem to fuel (no fuel to the carb?). I removed the fuel pump and had it tested. It worked OK. I connected it back to the car, but no go(dead). I assume the problem is now electrical. Anyone had similar problems and help please on what I need to check next.

  • Audi Quattro Faulty fuel sending units 21 Nov 2005 (Forum)
I read very recently that Audi America recalled some 50,000 A6 Quattro models (1998-2000)for faulty fuel sending units. Sulphur deposits on the fuel sending units (3) gave false readings such that empty fuel tanks gave the impression that there was fuel in the car. This was common to quattro models due to the way the fuel tank is mounted.
  • VW Polo MK4 1.9D - Air bubbles in fuel line 21 Aug 2010 (Forum)
Once started, very rough idle, however about 1.5k - 2k revs it runs smooth I have noticed air bubbles flowing in the clear fuel line between the fuel filter and the fuel pump. I dont think that is supposed to happen so replaced the filter and tightened all hoses but the bubbles are still there.  My next idea is to check fuel sender in the tank and then fuel lines.
  • Ford Focus III (2008 - ) - 08 2.0 Fuel overflows at first automatic shut off 4 Sep 2009 (Forum)
I refuel the fuel tank until the first automatic shut off of the filling station nozzle and leave it at that, I don't try putting more fuel in. I then notice there is diesel fuel coming out of the fuel overflow pipe underneath the rear of the car, about 0.5 litre or so which leaves a right mess on the forecourt floor to be cleared up, not to mention the wasted fuel.
  • VW Golf III diesel 1996 - No fuel going into engine 15 May 2010 (Forum)
Hi there, I'm having problems starting my golf diesel mk3, and i've noticed that fuel is not getting to the engine. I checked out the fuel relay and fuse, the fuel filter and it seems that the fuel pump may be the culprit. I've been advised that it may be the lift pump, so my question is whow difficult it may be  to replace by myself?
