  This vehicle stopped and wont start, save for running for about 4 seconds and then cutting out. My local garage charged £250.00 to not find the problem.They seem to think its a ecu problem and sent it off to a company who said they were unable to test this type of ecu but could supply me with a new one for £500+. I had the ecu back and sent it to the ECU Doctor in Plympton.He says he is unable to test this type of ecu but can supply me with a new one for £300+.

  The conversion turned out to be very badly installed so I have had new fitted. The garage are struggling with the ECU on both petrol and LPG. I am to,d when plugging in the diagnostics tester all is fine for a while and then the ECU zeros on all fuel related sensing whilst all other ECU values are fine. When running on petrol emissions are a challenge but it will drive as I am told the ECU continues to operated with predefined settings but as LPG works in real time it won't run.

  Hi I loaded a new map to my Citroen Xantia lastnight, using a KWP2000 USB box but about halfway through, the power cut out in my house and on trying to reload the file I'm getting either the message ECU not found or ECU not kicking. I hope there's something that I can do with the KWP2000 to repair the ECU as I assume it is only a software issue. I don't really want to spend money on a new ECU unit if this isn't necessary.

  Hi, my Son has cheap Cinquecento which recently required a new flexi exhaust section, no problem changed the section but on firing it up the ECU light came on and driving the car it is abruptly rev limited to about 3 K. The local agents want £65 to read the ecu not on for a 5 minute job so can anyone assist here, or does anyone know how to read or at least reset the ECU.

  Hi,I have been reading about some 2.0HDI Picassos suffering from terminals on the ECU corroding away.I would like to unplug my ECU to check mine for corrosion.Is it ok to unplug the ECU or is this a no no as it may upset the set up of things.Or are there any things I need to be aware of??

  Hi I wondered if anybody has any suggestions regarding the above fault p0505 (idle control voltage high) have had this problem for a while .I have changed the throttle bodies twice and had the values adapted to the ecu but the fault still remained, next course of action was to have the ecu sent away for test was told fault on 5volt side authorised repair .On refitting the ecu I decided to put a code reader on before starting the engine so that all was lit was the dash lights the ecu still had p0505 fault still present which I found odd after the ecu was supposed to have been fixed and tested and also I would have thoght the engine had to be running to trigger the code.I reset the light and tried starting the car and it ran ok for about 5 minutes and then put the light on.Are these simtec 70 ecu worth repairing or would it be best to replace it with a new one .

    i was banged to rights as i had not seen it running... so i now have to go back and have a look... any recommendations for ecu rebuild.. as an ecu swap out will give me more greif i hear.. or is it the dreaded heater wire and dash problem.. is there a way of checking ecu .. any advice is welcomed..

  I have some performance chips to solder into the BOSCH ECU of my 1998 2.5TD Vauxhall Omega. I bought an identical replacement ECU off ebay, but when I fit that, the car refuses to start, if I put mine back it fires at the turn of the key. I am wondering if this is some sort of security/immobiliser thing where chips in the key gets authorisation from the ECU to start?

  The local main dealer has tested it extensively (and expensively!), and eliminated everything but the ECU. The ECU was sent away to a specialist who tested it and found nothing wrong. However he did resolder whatever it is you solder in an ECU. It now seems to be performing better, but twice yesterday the car seemed to lose all power for a split second before picking up again, and I fear all is not entirely well.

  ECU light remained on when car restarted that evening. ECU light still on when engine running the next morning. After a 7 mile drive the car was left parked for 4 hours. On restarting the engine ECU light turned off as normal once engine running.
