Ford fiesta - Oil light stays on then service message next day 30 Apr 2023 (Forum)
I checked the oil and because I’m an i**** the oil was below min having not been topped up in a while. I stopped driving and topped the car up to near max this morning, took for a half hour drive but light stayed on. I’ve then just started the car and the ‘oil change due next service’ warning has come on and this makes sense as last service was 11k ago, but this is nearly 24 hours after the light first came on. -
Nissan x trail - Nissan x trail 2015, horrible squeak. 29 Mar 2023 (Forum)
My nissan x trail, 2015 model, has done 100k miles and more recently, its developed a squeak, which is more audible, when driving at a speed under 15 miles. The sound happens after driving for say a distance of 5 miles and it's like a loud squeak, almost as though, when the wheel is going round, its catching onto something. -
Components ICE verses Electric 12 Jan 2022 (Forum)
I got to wondering what components are missing on your EV. Radiator//hoses/water pump/car heater/auxiliary drive belts Drive shafts Alternator/Air filter/oil filter/coil packs/spark plugs/all sensors that monitor the engine/battery/Throttle body Exhaust system/catalytic converter/cat sensors Engine/gearbox/clutch and or auto gearbox/engine/gearbox mounts These all add up to a tidy cash sum. -
Ford Transit - Family Insurance on a Minibus in Ireland ! 23 Apr 2021 (Forum)
She is meant to move there in May and will use a green card from her existing UK insurer that will cover her for the 1st month. She is happy to comply with all the rules and change to Irish reg plates and even retake her driving test for minibus use if this helps. BUT....can she find anyone to insure her for social & domestic use in the Republic of Ireland? NO - not one single company. My daughter can surely not be the only woman in the whole of Ireland who has a big family and drives a minibus for non commercial reasons. -
Vauxhall Insignia 2011, 2000cc SRI - Loud knocking noise. 22 Dec 2020 (Forum)
Hi, Last week my wife drove to the shops and the car was driving fine. After an 1 1/4 hours she came out of the shops and was driving home and the engine started to make a loud knocking (tapping) noise. The knocking noise does not stop its continuous when stationary and gets louder when driving the car. -

Will some sort of stop leak work as the problem would only seem to have happened over the last day or 2 with the car sitting? (There was no fluid on my drive last week, and the car hasnt been anywhere) -

Nissan Primera - Wheels turn when I drive over dip or hole in road 2 Dec 2018 (Forum)
When I drive the car, and I happen to go over a man hole (the kind which dips down and not level with the road surface) or a dipped bump in the road or a pot hole, the wheels will turn to the left or right. I then have to pull steering back to the centre. -
What's the best way to insure a learner driver? 1 Sep 2017 (Ask HJ)
My grandson, 18 in November, is having driving lessons. Where can I insure him on a car owned by me as a named driver? I assume this is the cheapest method. -
2016 Peugeot 308 1.2 THP - Engine cutting out dangerously when driving 19 Apr 2017 (Forum)
I have lost faith as this new car with only 3660 miles has failed me 4 times without any warning as driving in traffic - once approaching a roundabout and twice whilst overtaking. It doesn't restart for some minutes causing me great anxiety as the the traffic jams grow. No faults show up on the cars computer listings. -

Today's test drive 19 Apr 2015 (Forum)
A BMW 320i GT x drive and it left me underwhelmed. Excellent interior and very well equipped, but it had a manual gearbox which was very notchy, a heavy clutch and it required far too many revs to prevent stalling, but it does auto start if you do stall so they have thought about it! -
VW Polo - VW Polo 1998 - Cold weather battery problems 24 Nov 2014 (Forum)
He recharged the battery and we drove off and he tested it again and said it was fine. I am now worried to drive again and worried it may stop. The rescue guy told me to warm up the engine for 30 minutes before driving off. Would it really take that long? Does anyone experience similar issues? -
Fiat Panda automatic - Summons after admitting guilt at scene? 2 Aug 2014 (Forum)

driving lesson ? 3 Jul 2013 (Forum)
I asked my wife had she observed the event, but her attention had been distracted by a hub cap bowling by us and down the road. Perhaps an unscheduled and expensive first driving lesson ? -
Petrol or Diesel? 21 Mar 2013 (Forum)
Most days i have a 22 mile round trip to work on a mix of roads (dual carriage way then 30mph through a village followed by 60mph single carriageway roads before a short spell in 30mph to the town centre and reverse on way home) and traffic jams not usually much of an issue but would this drive be enough to prevent a clogged dpf? Every second sunday we have a 35 mile drive to the wife's family, bit of shopping and 35 miles back home. The trips to and from family involves a good 25 mins of motorway driving. -
Icy crash insurance question 9 Mar 2013 (Forum)
Well, its finally happened. After 13 and a half years of collision free bus driving, I was driving my bus this morning and came across a minor accident that was blocking the road. I pulled into the side of the road a short distance away whilst the two drivers exchanged details, and sat there with my hazard lights on to warn traffic approaching behind me. -
08 PLATE VW GOLF - Test drive...Golf problems...HELP! 29 Feb 2012 (Forum)
When i started the engine i felt a juddering from underneath, which i put down to the car being cold and having been sat on the garage forecort. As i was driving it, i noticed the exhaust was noisy so pulled over an revved the car, it sounded like it was mis firing so assumed it was the coil pack which didn't bother me too much. Took it back to the garage and then a light came on on the dash, the exhaust light... but it was flashing, anyone know what that means?
