Toyota Avensis 2006 Petrol - Engine vibration 5 May 2015 (Forum)
I've been reading many many reports on various forums regarding vibration on the Avensis. Some seem to say it happens on acceleration, some say on motorway driving, but all seem to imply it happens within certain rev bands. The advice given is usually wheels, discs, or drive shaft issues. But have these vibration victims ever started their cars, firmly engaged the handbrake, gear in neutral and revved the engine to near the upper rev limit? -
Volvo V60 - Fault tracing and misleading diagnostic codes 11 Nov 2013 (Forum)
Dealer’s master tech takes car for 50-mile test drive, pronounces it ‘finally sorted.’ Emissions light pops up AGAIN when car is being delivered back to me, so back to the dealer it goes. This time, they work by swapping parts from a donor car. -
Pulled over by police, will i get a court summon? 26 Apr 2013 (Forum)
I was driving about 45mph through a 30 zone and at 70 on a 60mph road. The police finally put the lights on and pulled me over after following me for about 3 miles. I pulled over immediately and rolled my window down. -
Renault Laguna - Rear end shunt - always to blame?? 27 Mar 2013 (Forum)
So, bottom-line question is, is there anything worth fighting on this one, be it on dangerous driving on the old womans part as she stopped in a boxed junction, her questionable health grounds or that my wife's passenger confirms that my wife was driving in a perfectly safe manner for standard and reasonable conditions and it was the inexplicable actions of the old woman that was the cause? -
Fiat 500 Panda 1.1 Active 56 Plate - Throttle Control Problem and Central Locking 24 Nov 2012 (Forum)
I purchased the above vehicle 2 weeks ago from a local car dealership for £3000.It has 38,325 mileage and a full service history. 0ne previous owner and the vehicle is in immaculate condition. Upon collecting this vehicle and driving it home the following has occured... 1. Approximately 5 miles from the dealership the engine started to rev up and down while stationary. 2.The engine was trying taking control of the accelerator peddle and wanted to drive itself when driving. -
Toyota Avensis vs Hyundai i40 3 Jul 2012 (Forum)
The Renault Megane is also out - it looked good on paper but really wasn't comfortable or easy to drive. Vauxhall Insignia - interior felt very cheap and just didn't appeal. I liked the Ford Mondeo (1.6 TDCI econetic) but my husband thought it didn't have enough torque in the lower gears and it would be difficult to pull out at roundabouts etc. -
Volvo V60 - Failure to Furnish 3 Jun 2011 (Forum)
I really dont know what to do. Several thoughts run through my head. I am wondering if the driving details provided to me by my guest were not genuine and i am presently unable to contact him. I also didnt request any photographic evidence at the time they initially wrote to me in case it was someone else driving. -
Nissan Primera P12 2.2 SE TD - Let down by my insurance company!! 18 Apr 2011 (Forum)
This situation has left me feeling rather bitter given I have two insurance policies with 9 years no claims on both demonstrating my integrity regarding false claims. An independant mechanic has found the camshaft to be snapped at the drive pully!! I believe that the car being hit in the rear hitting the tow bar that is connected directly to the chassis (bypassing crumple zones) has transmitted a shock load from the forced rotation of the front drive wheels to the transmission whilst connected to the engine in reverse gear. -
Honda Civic vtec e 1996 - Heater fan kaput! PLEASE HELP 5 Dec 2010 (Forum)
Current solution is to use a little supplementary ceramic heat fan running off a separate 12v battery pack, Duck-taping hot water bottles to the dash next to the windscreen and only driving during the brightest and warmest part of the day but obviously this is not practical as anything other than an emergency measure. A mate of mine who used to drive HGVs said there's a heating device that lorry drivers use that has long heating strips that attaches to the top and bottom of the windscreen, and runs off thru the cigarette lighter but he couldn't remember what it was called, or know where I could get one. -
Mercedes C220 cdi Coupe - Bought 2nd hand car with "valid MOT" "Drives like new" - LIES!! 21 Jun 2010 (Forum)
Hi, I need some advice.. I recently purchased a second hand car that apparently had a valid MOT certificate and "drives like new" and also had "remote central locking". When I handed the money to the seller, he then told me... "the front steering brushes/bushels (??) need replaced and would cost about £30", he also told me to get the wheels balanced. -
Ford Mondeo II - Mondeo ST24 - poor handling, please help 7 Apr 2010 (Forum)
Hi, I'm wondering if anyone can offer assistance? My Ford Mondeo ST24 has become a challenge to drive on certain types of road, and it's quite unenjoyable. I picked the car up at a very reasonable price last year and knew it needed a few bits done. The front anti-roll bar links were knocking so replaced them (admittedly, with cheap ones). -
US car hire woes. A precautionary tale 13 Jan 2010 (Forum)
I declined the vehicle and an hour later they 'borrowed' a soft top Jeep Wrangler from another hire company, advising us to drive to Sacramento airport to change it for a more suitable 4WD. This we did. They had none and advised us to drive to Reno in Nevada! No chance. We kept the Jeep for 3 days.....it was awful on Freeways, freezing driving in blizzards, had no grip on its summer tyres and no security at all. -
Renault Megane (1999 - 2002) - 99 1.6 16v. Misfire / vibration after wet coils 24 Nov 2008 (Forum)
When it's up to temperature, it bobbles a bit and sound like theres a slight blow from the right hand cylinder plug chamber (but this could be from anywhere and misleading). In reverse gear, the drive seems OK and the car doesn't grumble, but when going forwards it's different. On first picking up drive and then again at about 4-5000 rpm, theres a terrible vibration that comes right through the car and the car seems a bit down on power (although I don't drive it often and am comparing it to my own car). -
Ford Mondeo III (2000 - 2007) - How long do I have to reject a car 10 Jul 2008 (Forum)
Was OK up to Christmas and then started playing up. It looses power sometimes. For example on Saturday driving from Canterbury to Sheffield. Goes OK most of the time but then just slowly loses power for a while, like the engine has been strangled. Pushing foot down brings no extra power, sometimes there is a jolt. -
Citroen ZX (1992 - 1998) - 93 1.9D Grinding clattering noise on braking! 18 Jun 2008 (Forum)
I hope that all makes sense. I don't really know what to do, the noise is loud and horrible enough to drive me to cycle to work this week but I need to get my car to the garage (early MOT and service) on Thursday (19June) and I dont know if it is safe to drive it there and ignore the noise or if I should get a truck to take it?? -
Moving Swiftly up....looking for an SUV 3 Oct 2007 (Forum)
The Suzuki garage had nothing to test drive because the boss had gone on holiday in it. Have they no cars or do they just not want to sell them? All opinions very gratefully received. Alijazz PS I like the look of the Sorrento. Would be particularly interested to hear about these, especially diesels. -
Cars - Just a numbers game? 25 Jun 2007 (Forum)
I then drove a 1.2 Corsa which was the complete opposite, it felt really fast, dispite less than a 2s difference in 0-60 times. When we're looking for cars to test drive how do we get a short list, should we just ignore performance/economy figures and test drive everything? -
Most stupid excuse for a collision? 31 May 2006 (Forum)
SWMBO slowed down seeing her approach from the right, then having seen her stop assumed the other driver had seen her and proceeded only for the driver of the Ka to promptly start off again and drive straight into her offside as she drew level, hitting the rear of the front wheel and scraping right the way down the side to the rear wheel. Result; damage to two alloys, front wheel arch, drivers' door, rear door and rear wheel arch, plus probably damaged steering rack or track rod as it now drives 'offline'; as I said, a fair bit of expensive metal bent. -
NCD 28 Oct 2005 (Forum)
The court case took place 3 weeks ago. He was done for failing to stop and report, but they couldn't do him for dangerous driving as there were no witnesses. I had to claim on my own insurance, and although they said that they would take action to recover from the other driver, I doubt they will have success following the court decision. -
Whats your Crash CV 4 Apr 2005 (Forum)
Fiat (same) Parked outside an office tight to steel bollard, thought "must remember thats there", didnt. New Wing and light. Sierra, reversing out of drive, rear door opened and ripped it off on the gate post. 90's Cavalier, Struck up rear at roundabout, new boot floor and hatch (nearly written off) Scenic, reversing out of drive, hit Mrs RF's Clio, no damage to Clio, rear door on Scenic sprung in.
