  on  start  up  and  xild  cold  car  goes  fine,  as  it  xarms  up  the  eml  light  comes  on, the  coolant  light  comes  on,  the  rev  counter  stops  xorking any  ideas  anyone?  is  it  crankshaft  sensor

  Hi there, i am draining and refilling the coolant on my car i know how to do this, however i need to know how to bleed the system when i am done. any help greatly appriciated thankyou.

  Front passenger foot well is soaking.  Coolant tank is emptying about every 2 days.  EM code P0420.  Anybody any ideas????

  Initial problem - Coolant leak (visit 1 to the garage):    £206 including labour. Housing Unit was replaced to fix a leak.

  In the end i paid 600 which included for some parts and fluids. when I got the car back he told me that the coolant pressure cap was damaged when he removed it and he would have replaced it but he didn't have one, so at some point I should get a new one. After having the car back for 5 days, while driving down the motorway the coolant hose connection to the. radiator came off and the engine dropped the coolant.

  I have had the above car for over 3 years and it has served me well, however, a number of weeks ago I noticed that the coolant level had dropped to below the low mark.  After topping it up and going on holiday with it I had to top it up again during the week. Since then I have had to regularly top the water up prior to driving (I am now checking it everyday)!!

   Then got worse - engine temp fluctuations (though it's never overheated yet), cold air through the heater, coolant vanishing but no leak, misfires from a cold start, etc. The guys at the garage checked it out and deemed it a head gasket failure - the give away was bubbles coming through the coolant at the radioator cap when the engine was started with the cap removed.

    I have not had any white smoke, temperature problems or coolant loss, however I did have coolant change and instantly the coolant turned back to a rusty style color!   What cost would I be looking at for a head gasket replacement on the ASZ engine please?

  Took a ten minute trip not going any more than 40mph and noticed that the car seemed to be over heating (no lights came on just noticed dial was reading hotter than usual). When i had a look i couldnt see coolant level clearly but could hear a slight hissing noise. Popped into local halfords and they wasnt very helpful so i drove home with my heating on full blast trying not to let it get too hot. After it all cooled down I added some water/anti freeze and it drunk about a litre and a half, obviously loosing water somewhere.

  A rapid loss of coolant. One cooked engine. Ah yes, the leasing company were all for sending me the bill. Or sending it to the company who would send me the bill. £5K++, either way. I argued with Mazda that, in my opinion, their car was under-equipped to alert the driver to a developing mechanical crisis.

  I turned the heater and fan on full blast and parked up with the engine off. After it had cooled down I checked the coolant and I could see droplets forming on the inside bottom edge and a steady trickle down the right side of the radiator. There was no coolant in the header tank at all. I topped it up with water and left it overnight.

  Car just serviced by main dealer.  They found oil in the coolant header tank but do not think that the head gasket has blown because the oil is not EMULSIFIED. Any ideas?.

  Hello all,, Now,, I have a coolant leak on my 2004 Peugeot 307 2.0 hdi.  I've managed to trace it to the back part of the engine and it looks like it could be one of the hoses that go in to the egr cooling system.   I can't seem to find a diagram or decent view of what coolant pipe work looks like back there so I guess I just have to bite the bullet go in and investigate it... so my question is: what is the easiest way to access that rear area of the engine,?

  my temp gauge is erratic. barely moves but on a long motorway run it hit middle. i knew of a water leak but thought i had sorted it with radweld. shorter journeys made the 'check coolant' message show on dash, but never made temp gauge move. a good motorway run made gauge get to middle. then back to nil. then eventually middle again (90f) then went as high as 110, water boiling, but no 'check coolant' message. i do have a replacement stat. car drives fine, though IMO slightly down on fuel economy compared to book figures. recently changed oil. no mayo or sludge. header tank looks sound. no obvious leaks anywhere. engine has only done 61k. could the stat be causing water loss?

  Since the car is delivered with antifreeze when it was brand new and I don't give any chance to the owner to change the coolant within 3 years with a coolant without antifreeze for no reason, I am suspecting of possible damage on the car. Do you agree with me? Can you comment on this?

  i just a bit confused what this message means,, after i drive about just 1 mile and 1/2  I stop and bought something  then i start the car again, then this message came up with the engine  icon ) lights lit up too, and its there while im driving, i did try to stop the engine running and re start again , and the message came up again and so is the red light ,    so i thought  its because maybe the engine is too hot , so  i put  a little bit of water to the coolant, then  the messages and red lights GONE ,, what confused me is,, what really is the problem with it , coz when i put th ewater to the coolant , the water in there is still nearly full ??

  I can make it go away by either revving the engine briefly or sometimes by braking quite sharply. All this would make me think that it's a coolant level indicator, either pressure or volume, except theres plenty of coolant in the car and its not losing any! Possibly a large air lock? The car performs fine at the moment but i just dont like seeing a big red light going on and off all the time im driving!

  Hello all, I'm having a bit of bother with my 1.7td (low-blow), I noticed it overheating at the start of the week....when driving about it seems ok but when in traffic or pulling hard the temp can rise steadily. Firstly i flushed the system and put in fresh coolant which helped but didnt solve then i noticed that i dont think the fan is operating. Using some wire i connected it directly to the battery and it still spins so i know the motor on it is fine. I have since changed the thermostat and the coolant temp switch but it still gets hot when left sitting and i think the fan still isnt trying to cut in???

  No codes are showing, and I've already tried cleaning the throttle body, with no improvement at all. It also frequently shows the "Coolant level check" message on the upper console MID at least once every 10-15 miles, which the Vx dealer has told me to ignore as no coolant is being lost... I don't think this is linked to the starting problem (expansion tank sensor issue?)

  Have spent all day trying to find any other broken connections, doesnt seem to be any, anybody any ideas, this was a low import model according to Haynes,(1600 GTD) so I only have a manual for a Golf petrol. An Amreican site talked about a faulty coolant sensor, but they were on about the 1.9 tdi, there must be a coolant sensor on my car as GP light doesnt come on when engine is hot, any ideas were it might be located. Car cranks Ok Any advice greatfully recieved, I'm knackered without transport
