  • V6 4Motion Golf 2 Oct 2003 (Forum)
It\'s a motorpoint car 2001 X 5 dr, full spec with leather & cd changer, climatronic etc..Do you think it\'s good value? It has covered 105,000 m/way miles but still feels & drives as new. Should I buy it?
  • Are there any Mirafioris still running 16 Sep 2003 (Forum)
I received a phone call two months later asking if I was still the owner as it had been nicked and abandoned in Stafford. The brakes were awful. I had to pump them to get the thing to stop but it was a brilliant car to drive.
  • size matters, ramblings 22 Aug 2003 (Forum)
Why do guys well over 6ft go down the M4 in VW lupo's or Toyota Yaris. Why do fragile looking young women drive 4x4's? What happened to The Doctors car, one titled lady owner etc?
  • xenon headlights abroad 15 Aug 2003 (Forum)
Im off to France / Italy this summer in my car, which is fitted with xenon headlights. The handbook says to take to dealer to alter them, however, I have a 320mile drive to dover overnight, so will need headlights! I heard somewhere that they are standard fit and dont need to be changed for Europe because they arent directional! Anyone have any ideas? TIA
  • Best and Worst MPG 16 Jul 2003 (Forum)
Having read the "what's the fastest you've ever driven" thread, I was wondering what are the best and worst MPG figures people have recorded here? My best was 56mpg in a polo 1.4cl driving from Stuttgart to Vienna at a constant 75mph- quite amazing! My worst was 7mpg recorded over a 15 mile A road rant in my Golf vr6!
  • Fluctuating Revs 12 Jul 2003 (Forum)

  • Any Mazda experts out there? 27 Jun 2003 (Forum)
I've had a quick look over the car and the bodywork appears to be in great nick, so I may take a test drive. Are there any problems with this model that I should look out for? eg any history of grey imports etc? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
  • Recommend a brand new first car. 27 Jun 2003 (Forum)
Can anyone recommend a good first car, must be brand new / nearly new and less than £9000. Important considerations are ease of driving, insurance group, MPG, and cost of services. Would prefer a diesel for the above reasons. Is a new Seat Arosa TDi for £8000 good value? Or would another make, model be better? Thank you.
  • European car Supermarkets 2 Jun 2003 (Forum)
After watching Topgear last night, they mentioned great deals to be had from dealers off loading cars to car supermarkets. Presumably the same happens on the continent. I am in the market for a LH drive car and wondered if anyone knows of the equivalent of trade sales or motorpoint in the Bnelux or France region. Your help is much appreciated.
  • Audi individuality 31 May 2003 (Forum)
Any of you guys know good websites specialising in Audi (A6) mods, accessories etc. Not after anything garish or boy racer like (no I don't drive around with my front fogs on during the daytime...!) but just something to spice up a slightly bland looking car. Have done the usual search engine checks, ebay, and uk audi owners - nothing great there.
  • British justice 24 May 2003 (Forum)
I refer to two articles in the press today, one about an 18 year old, with lots of previous history, knocking down and killing a 14 yr old cyclist - Result £200 fine at £5 a week. Nutter, driving at 150+ on a dual carrigeway, no one killed, gets a prision sentence. Can someone please explain this to me?
  • Diesel newbie questions(s) 23 May 2003 (Forum)
Just bought a ’99 Pug 306 HDi, my first diesel. So, anything I need to be aware of after driving petrol cars for 16 years? I know about the glow plug (!)…how about fuel choice? Are the days of diesels with blackened rear ends over? Any fluid levels I should be keeping a wary I on?
  • Speed Bumps 10 Apr 2003 (Forum)
If you drive over speed bumps on a 30 mph limit road at 30 mph, are they meant to slow you down and why? If they damage your car while you traverse them at the posted speed limit do you have a claim against anybody?
  • ZX 16 Valve 28 Jan 2003 (Forum)

  • Discovery Dti fuel filter warning 29 Dec 2002 (Forum)
In-Laws are visiting this weekend (non 'car' people) driving Discovery Dti on an 'S' plate. Fuel filter warning light is on, and in that wonderfully vague way of hers, sister-in-law says " oh, it's been like that for a while". They're due to return to London tomorrow (200 miles) what do people think : call the AA now?
  • Take care out there! 22 Dec 2002 (Forum)
I've been an idiot today. I won't bore you with the details but my crappy driving ended with me going over a kerb at about 40mph, I was lucky it only cost me my tyre, I feared alloy wheel plus suspension damage as well! Take care in the wet! Im a loser baby....so why don't you kill me?!
  • Peugeot 605 SV 3.0 - auto box problem 4 Dec 2002 (Forum)
My 605 has started 'jumping' the automatic gears by itself, even when travelling sedately on the flat in 'Drive'... could an ATF / filter change cure this or does it mean a strip-down and rebuild ? (Or, more likely, scrap the car !)
  • Traction control 14 Nov 2002 (Forum)
Why do the likes of Tiff Needell, etc, think they can drive faster with the TC switched off, whereas all the Formula 1 cars have it switched on? Is it purely for TV footage so you can see how wonderful Tiff, etc, are at coming out of a bend sideways with the rear tyres smoking?
  • Foot on brake brigade. 29 Oct 2002 (Forum)
With 3 bright brake lights shining in your face, Im inclined (but don't) to slap the main beam and front fogs on. And people whinge about others driving in daylight with front fogs on. Honestly.
