  • Omega Rocker Cover/Oil Warning 22 Oct 2002 (Forum)
Now I know this is usual from a cold start but this is noisier. On having a peep with the oil cap of it`s clear that the oil isn`t getting up to the cams. The oil level is fine as is the oilk. Are the gasket and this problem just a coincidence or was I just born unlucky. Any ideas?
  • alternator - worn mounting bushes? 14 Oct 2002 (Forum)
Can anyone explain to me what the problem might be here, how soon it might need to be fixed, and exactly how involved and costly this would be. If it\'s a lot it might have a bearing on my decision to buy the car. Any opinions gratefully received. Thanks, HF.
  • Vectra 4 stud steel rims 3 Oct 2002 (Forum)
Question is did vauxhall make 4 stud steel wheels that will fit this car in any larger size than 14 inch as I'd really like to stick some 15's on. Also will cavalier or astra wheels fit ok as vectra wheels seem a bit thin on the ground. TIA

  • Spanish Motoring Costs Pt II 24 Apr 2002 (Forum)
Only problem HJ's advice S(sell here & buy there), is the small one of financing, on a meagre pension, the shortfall between a new Focus/Seat/etc & a nearly (by then) 3yo 'Belgian' Focus :-( If I do sell & buy, I'll have to trade-down - any recommendations, bearing in mind the likely value of the Focus - well cared-for, but f. high mileage(16k/yr)?
  • Big miler Saab 9-5 27 Feb 2002 (Forum)
I have seen a Saab 9-5 advertised at £6250, S reg (Sept 98) 2.3T alloys, climate control 104,00 miles. It has a computer print out with a full service history from Saab leasing. I have seen it and driven it. For a 3 and a half year old car it seems a good deal.

  • body repairs 30 Jan 2002 (Forum)
Yesterday i returned to my lexus IS200 to find that some nice person had dented the o/s rear wheel arch. i have visited the Lexus dealer who say's that they will repair the dent and blend it in with the rear door. i am concerned as the car is a silver metallic finish, and as it is quite new, i want to get the best possible repair so that the repair will not notice. i would appreciate any advice on getting the right job done.
  • 1998 Rover 620 195/65 HR15 tyress 2 Jan 2002 (Forum)
My shortlist for the above vehicle at present is as follows: Continental ContiEcoContact EP Continental ContiPremiumContact Pirelli P6000 Incidentally, I am replacing Michelin Energies that I have found to be so-so. Can anyone recommend a tyre that they have found particularly good on Rover 618/620's, or would one of the above be a good choice?
  • False alarm! 28 Dec 2001 (Forum)
I borrowed the old man's merc to go down to the shops today (Boxing Day family thing, y'know...) When I came out, I saw that the back n/s tyre had large patches of discolouration on it, as if fluid had been spilt over it. As these all seemed to start at the wheel, and flow outwards, I was naturally worried, thinking brake-fluid leak. When I drove back, and pointed it out to the old man, he said not to worry: "That's where the dog pees every morning, when I let him out" ...
  • Air Con - is it worth it? 2 Nov 2001 (Forum)
For the first time many of the cars falling into this category have air con. I can?t help wondering if air con may be more trouble and expense than it?s worth in these circumstances. What do people think?
  • Why buy the A4TDI 130 bhp rather than the 100 bhp 15 Oct 2001 (Forum)
having had 3 Audi cars (2- 80's and 1 A4) I am thinking of buying a new A4 TDI, can anyone tell me why I should be paying £1200 more to aquire a 130 bhp version rather than order the 100 bhp one? I do not feel that a couple of seconds extra to get to 62mph is worth £1200 plus paying for the extra insurance group.

  • A bit of road down under 31 Jan 2009 (Forum)
Quite a lot of it actually with many hours spent in cars and a bit of driving. All motoring in Australia was in my son-in-law?s white 2-litre 325,000kms Daewoo Espero, a surprisingly sober and European-looking vehicle rendered slightly embarrassing by the previous lady owner?s hippyish bien-pensant slogans at both ends and the word ?

  • audi a4 advant s line estate black edition - dpf light come on again 3 Apr 2021 (Forum)
Hello  New to the forum  I bought an audi a4 advant s line black edition last July 88500 miles stunning condition Dpf light came on in September followed by engine management light etc from which it went into limp mode After some research I took it to a very reputable audi vw skoda specialist with excellent reviews  It came up on diagnostics that a pressure sensor was faulty which was replaced with a new one along with a forced regeneration  As the car was under dealer warranty still (3 months) The dealer paid the bill no problem at all very good communication all the way.
  • 100 years of Mazda 7 Feb 2021 (Forum)
This used a 135bhp development of the RX7's engine and could hit 75mph, but fuel consumption would likely be catastrophic!.  There was a section on innovations, such as that Mazda were the first company to use recycled materials on a car (1992).
  • Where’s the joy? 10 Jan 2021 (Forum)
It doesn’t need to be an out and out fun car but it does need to be something I want to drive just for the pleasure of it, something I want to stand in the garage and admire nightly with a tinnie or two. Now this is a complex subject with me as I like such a verity of cars from 80’s Saab 900’s through hot Peugeot’s, Fast Fords from the late 90’s and naughties to Japanese coupes like the MX6, Celica and Prelude. I’m in no rush as old Terrance is as ever unfailingly loyal and there’s a waiting list for him when I finally do succumb to stupidity and sell in favour of heart over head.
