Isnt it nice...... 31 Dec 2003 (Forum)
Reminds me what a pleasure driving can be. When you get this much road to yourself, even the road tax seems worth it. A breath of fresh air and just too good not to mention. -
Porsche 911 13 Oct 2003 (Forum)
What is the difference between a C2 and a Turbo, a C4 and a C2S etc etc. I know that both the C4 and Turbo 4 have 4 wheel drive but other than that I am lost. I'm looking for BHP output for each variation as well as 2/4 wheel drive. From 993s through 996s. Please please help. The more I try and work it out, the more confused I get. -
Clutch in Vauxhall Carlton. 6 Oct 2003 (Forum)

I have a bit of knowledge about cars but I cannot understand why it did this its rear wheel drive I wasn't speeding but its had a new clutch recently. -
Diesels and the Russian winter 17 Sep 2003 (Forum)
I have a friend working in Moscow, and I thought I might drive out to see her in February. Things can get reasonably cold there: minus 20 is not unexpected, and if there's a cold snap, it can get to minus 35 or so, though by that stage, minus 10 is the norm. Driving a Rover 420 diesel, as I do, is there anything I should know about diesel at that temperature? -

Car for £3k 8 May 2003 (Forum)
I want to buy something for £3k at auction, drive it for a couple of months, then sell it and hope not to loose any money. I either want something comfortable, or good to drive. My last car was a 97R Mondeo 2ltr GLX. I liked it. But the front tyres were nearing the end of their life so it was time to sell. -
Selby Rail Crash 14 Apr 2003 (Forum)
I have just read the article in the DT about sleeping at the wheel, and was particularly interested in the photo showing the Selby crash. I had always believed that Mr Hart had been driving a car, towing a Landy on a trailer, but the photo would indicate he was driving the Landy. Does anyone know the full facts? As the owner of a Landy, I cannot believe that anyone, no matter how late they had stayed up, could fall asleep at the wheel. -
Merc SL (W107) Am I asking for trouble? 2 Jan 2003 (Forum)
I am thinking about buying an SL, with about £10k in my budget. The thing is that I do about 10-12,000 miles a year, mostly motorway driving. Am I deluded in wanting to buy one of these? I imagine that the mpg is pretty poor especially on the 450's and I don't have a garage. I would have hoped that the running costs would be lessened by the fact that it is mostly motorway driving. -
Which make of brake pads? 26 Nov 2002 (Forum)
I bought a set of PowerTrain pads from Partco and was fine after 3000 miles of normal driving. I took it to road rallying last Friday and it overheated and glazed. Now I have to throw them away. Which brand / model should I go for if I do normal driving but the occasional rallying? The car is Nissan Maxima QX 3.0. -
Irish Insurance 5 Nov 2002 (Forum)
I know this will only advise that the vehicle is insured, not the driver, but it would be a step in the right direction and would ensure that the owner would be more careful about who is driving the car. It is a more serious crime to drive an uninsured car over an untaxed one. Discuss! -
Brother wants a car... 21 Feb 2002 (Forum)
Hey everyone, my brother is learning to drive at the moment. And in preparation had a wander round Carcraft to look for ideas as to which car to buy. We are looking for a smallish car with about £5k to spend. After the said wander he is keen on a newish Punto, or a Saxo [what he is learning to drive in]. -
Inhibiting Mobile Phones 20 Jan 2002 (Forum)
t this a small price to pay to stop the P****S who use their cars as a mobile office at 90mph in the outside lane of the motorway. IMHO mobile phone use whilst driving is indefensible and should be prevented by whatever means are available ? including severe penalties for anyone caught. It should become as socially unacceptable as drunken driving. -
Festive Stupidity... 29 Dec 2001 (Forum)
From today's local newspaper: "In recent examples of irresponsible driving, a motorcyclist was trapped at 240km/h on the West Coast and a motorist caught doing 195km/h near Citrusdal while driving under the influence of alcohol and with three children in the car. " Both these roads are single lane, with no centre strip... -
Mercedes e300d auto box 2 Nov 2001 (Forum)
Done 96k miles with fmbsh. When the car is left unused for more than 1 or 2 days there is a delay on the drive take up through the auto box ie when it is first put into drive or reverse in the morning - after that the box is fine in all respects - if it is used every day then there is no delay. The auto fluid level is OK and has been changed every 36k miles. -
