VW Revives Microbus 13 Mar 2001 (News)
VW continues to test the market for its second retro model, the Microbus, at car shows around the world. The concept vehicle is 4,722mm long, 1,904mm high and 1,909mm wide. (Note that its height disqualifies it from the best discounted fares on the Eurotunnel Shuttle.) -
5 Year Warranty for Protons 3 Jan 2001 (News)
Malaysian car maker Proton has announced a full manufacturer five year warranty on all Protons sold through its UK dealers from 1/1/2001. Power-train and body is warranted for a further year, as before, and all new Proton owners continue to benefit from three years RAC membership. -
New Audi A4 15 Oct 2000 (News)
Diesels include a 130bhp 1.9 litre TDI PD, a 155bhp 2.5 litre V6 TDI and a 180bhp version of the same engine for the Quattro TDI. Journalists get their first chance to drive the new car at the end of October and UK launch date is set as early Spring. -

” Mazda’s design team in California started with the chassis of the Mazda triple-rotor-engined AMLS Courage C65 race car which races successfully in the American Le Mans series. To this they added a closed cockpit and elements of the Nagare design language which Mazda is now using on its production cars. There are no plans to race the Furai, though many believe it would be a very worthy vehicle for Mazda to return to the Le Mans 24-hour race which it won with a rotary-engined car in 1991. -

Jet tops record-breaking Aston sale at Bonhams 21 May 2013 (News)
But it was the multiple-award-winning Jet was the star, attracting intense interest from bidders in the room and on the telephones, with bidding escalating at increments of £100,000 at a time. The car was the last off the production line and is a complete ‘one-off’ with coachwork by Giorgetto Giugiaro, then working for the Italian design house Bertone. A 38k mile 2000W new-shape Volvo V70 T5 auto with a filthy interior sold over book at £14,500. And a 71k mile 96N Mercedes E220 Sportline convertible showed where these beautiful cars are going by reaching £2,000 over book at £11,950. Car of the day wasn’t the 45k mile 2001V Jeep Cherokee 2.5 manual I quite fancied. It was a 16k mile 2001/51 Subaru Legacy 2.0GL saloon, sold for an incredible £4,300. -

Suzuki has responded to speculation that its Jimny off-roader could be axed in order to reduce average CO2 emissions across its range. £17.5m Aston Martin sets new world auction record 21 Aug 2017 (News)
A 1956 Aston Martin DBR1/1 sold at auction in Monterey to become the most expensive British car ever sold at auction. Chassis no. 1 sold for $22,550,000 (£17.5m) when it went under the hammer at RM Sotheby’s on Friday, 18 August. Two bidders competed for the Martin, in a contest that lasted nearly seven minutes, before a private collector bidding by telephone was successful.
