  Have checked H.J`s car x car details of the above model, but not too much info given. Has anybody on the forum any experience or better still own a 2006 2.0R with the 160 bhp engine. How reliable are these vehicles and are they really so bad on fuel economy?????

  I have a 98(s) Reg Audi A4 1.8 se. From cold the engine starts up fine but if its still warm when you start it up it can take up to 10 seconds to start.when it does eventually start it usually revs to high when idel around 2000 rpm instead of 800rpm.Also when you put your foot on the accelorator it drops the revs and almost cuts out .....this can last for a few minutes even when driving(buy building up the revs).....any ideas

  if you are in any way annoyed at being robbed of your money and even your livelihood and are fed up of seeing idiot footballers get away with drink driving because they "need the car for work" and have £5000 a day briefs then look at www.speed-trap.co.uk/Accused_Home/Accused_Home.htm my wife has 2 possible sp30's on the way and we are doing our best on a DIY defence. and before you start we are safe drivers and do NOT need to hear "if you didnt break the limit well..."

  My wife has one of these on hire for the day - HDi S with climate control. Stuck it on auto and 'Lo' last night as it was 23 degrees and very humid. It gave out cold air, but when we went round a corner (i.e turning from traffic lights) the thing gave out a real blast of very warm air which lasted for a few yards after straightening up.

  The bore is the same and from part Nos top half the same. ???? If i take crank and pistons from 1.1 fit the new rings from the 1ltr changing stroke =s half decent 1.1ltr engine??? IS MY THINKING RIGHT? ANY PROBLEMS?

  1998/9 S-plate Fiesta, 1.3 petrol OHV engine, belongs to SWMBO. Has lost nearly a litre of oil in the last month. It's not leaking from the drain plug, the filter, the head or the rocker box. There's no blue smoke from the exhaust that I can make out.

  What an awful looking car. Without a word of a lie, the side profile resembles the "Popemobile" that was used in the 80's when he was in Great Britain. The back end looks like it has been added on to the chassis, similar to a Truckman Top being placed on a pick-up. SWMBO thought that it looked like one of the disguised cars you see in Auto Express with big square taped edges to hide the actual shape of the car.

  Can anyone suggest a reason for the following?? I have a 1997 Ford Fiesta 1.25LX with a zetec-s engine. Its done about 55000 miles. Occaisionally the engine seems to bog down and suffer poor acceleration for up to about 30 seconds and then suddenly surge and pick up speed even when keeping the same throttle position.

  I have had a number of cars that have rusted in my time but far and away the worst was a Fiat 128 Sport in the 70's - Great Fun Car but the body got more like swiss cheese every day ... It occurred to me that in these days of galvanised body shells and anti corrosion warranties perhaps the tin worm problem isn't as bad as it used to be.

  Ecotech 1.4. had cambelt replaced last april 2003. car has done 22k since then. I had to look at motor tonight. severe tapping of camshaft/tappets.valve`s touching pistons.wasnt certain at the time what it was. further look says cambelt split in several places causing cam timing to be well out.Not certain about this motor. But according to vx and independant. cambelt should last 40k. is this well out or correct. if correct may be one off.though I doubt it as its happened before. to friends cars. -- Was mech1

  Another thread in Technical raised a question in my mind (always a dangerous thing): Is there anything to deter a dealer from failing to resolve (either deliberately or by ineptitude) a serious fault until the warranty is expired and the repair(s) become chargeable to the customer? In such a case does the owner have any realistic legal redress? Surely, if a car has been suffering the same problems for some time and the dealer has failed to resolve them within the warranty period, why should not the warranty be automatically extended to cover any associated repairs undertaken until the fault is found/fixed?

  I\'ve looked at all of the labels on the various oils, but none mention whether they are synthetic or not. Magnatec - just found out above that it\'s not synthetic - mentions synthetic engineering on the label, so I\'m a bit confused.

  The fuse at the back of the radio is o.k but it still won't work ! I have had a look at all the fuses in the fuse box at the front o/s under the bonnet. Is there another fuse box somewhere else ? and if so where is it !! It also, when changing gear, either up or down, holds onto the revs for 2-3 seconds before dropping like it should.
