  • Renault Clio II (2001 - 2007) - 04 1.5DCI 'Brake Judder' 20 Oct 2009 (Forum)
Hi, I have a 2004 Renault Clio 1.5 DCI. when I brake at any speed in excess of roughly 40 MPH I can feel quite a severe ' judder' through the brake pedal, I have had the discs and pads replaced, and had the N/S wheel bearing replaced (because there was a bit of wear in it) but the problem persists, the car has ABS. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thankyou in advance. Russell Barr.

The bonnet on my rover 75 wont open the cable seems to of come off, I have read an old post on this that says there is a junction box under the o/s front wheel liner, were the cable splits into two near the washer bottle, but on mine there dosnt seem to be one or any sign of a cable. I have removed the front grill and there is no way to get at the catch.

  • What cars do the police near you use? 6 Sep 2009 (Forum)
The question occurred after I saw a marked Ford S-Max today. Why would the police want a people carrier, I thought, until I got a bit closer and saw the legend: 'Police Dogs' written on the side. The two rearmost side windows had been replaced with glass with three ventilation louvres.
  • How to easily work in the footwell? 27 Jul 2009 (Forum)
It's very difficult, and very uncomfortable indeed, to have to twist around part-in and part-out of the door. This is possibly an H&S issue. N.B. This is a serious enquiry, aimed at those who do this day in, day out. I would have posted this in "Technical" - as it's a general "How to do it" article that must apply to people working on any cars - but "Technical" *requires* a make/model - to my mind, a "general issue" option would be worthwhile.

  • Potholes In Glasgow 26 Feb 2009 (Forum)
I cannot think of any road that is in not need of repair and you report a fault they turn up in a low bed truck and chuck some tarmac at the hole and basically the guy uses his tacky boot to stamp it down. Then a week later it?s back to square one. http://tinyurl.com/bjc7qh Mods HJ has cleared the link.
  • Privacy glass 19 Feb 2009 (Forum)
To me it makes a car look odd when the windscreen and side windows have normal glass and the rest of the car has dark windows. It must cost more too. Its mostly people carriers and exec 4x4's that seem to have it fitted but those I've seen recently only had two people in them, a driver and front seat passenger who were clearly visible so no privacy for them! If they were carrying kids in the back, why would they require 'privacy'?

On Sunday we tested an 04 plate Ignis - liked it for size and found the engine has real zest above 3,800 RPM but they're hard to locate s/hand in East Anglia. Does any reader have an Ignis - would you recommend one or should we look at other cars?
  • Mercedes Benz C-Class W203 (2000 - 2007) - Rust on a '52' plate - is this unusual? 11 Aug 2008 (Forum)
Glanced at other side as I pulled away, and nearside front wheel arch was just as bad. Is this common? I know I've seen rusty arches on late 90's E-class Mercs, but on a '52 plate? It's only 6 years old. Anyone else seen this?
  • Volkswagen Golf IV (1998 - 2004) - 2001 1.6 Timing Belt Failure 20 Jul 2008 (Forum)
Hefty rebuild cost, though garage that fitted original belt offering to pay half costs. Wondering whether it is likely to have been faulty belt or faulty fitting and about manufacturer?s liability? Anyone similar experiences or advice much appreciated.
