Shiny plastic 5 May 2002 (Forum)
We just bought a s/h Mazda that had been valeted, and the silly b's had spread that plastic 'restorer' all over the top of the dash. I don't care for shiny plastic at the best of times (it gives out the same message as shiny tyres, IMHO) but making the area under the windscreen reflective is just plain stupid. -
Peugeot 406 Bargains 24 Jan 2002 (Forum)
Thanks to some sound advice from this page, i have discovered some great bargains at Autotrader and Yahoo Cars. There are a few 406's going from around £2500 to £3000, yr 96 and 97 are very common. Most of these are from traders which is surprising as i thought they would be a rip-off. What do people think it is reasonable to offer when the asking price is £3000 ono? -
Inhibiting Mobile Phones 20 Jan 2002 (Forum)
Now I know that this will prevent their use by a passenger. But isn?t this a small price to pay to stop the P****S who use their cars as a mobile office at 90mph in the outside lane of the motorway. IMHO mobile phone use whilst driving is indefensible and should be prevented by whatever means are available ? including severe penalties for anyone caught. -
And what did Santa bring YOU? 27 Dec 2001 (Forum)
Among the socks, skivvies, pyjamas and other things all either too large or too small (thank goodness we have M & S in Manila!) I found a Black & Decker Car Vacuum. Nice piece of kit, considering it's made in China. I also got 5 car key rings (is this a record?). Enough, its 1115, 37 degrees C and time to flare up the barbie. -
Dodgy Number Plates? 20 Nov 2001 (Forum)
Saw a number plate which made me smile today. It should have been N19 STY. But it was written in a 1980's digital watch font, with the 1 touching the 9, so it looked like NASTY. Underneath the number plate, where the dealer details would usually be, was written "I'M NOT REALLY". Made me laugh anyway. A Merc owner with a sense of humour. -
Electric failure (temporary) Merc 11 Oct 2001 (Forum)
I have 1998 C class Mercedes estate 1800, auto, which is great - except that while my wife was driving in France there was sudden electric failure covering windscreen cleaner, turn flashers, and door s were unlocked. A friend with an E class said a similar thing happened to him. With my own car it was the second time it has happened - but without any attention all is now ok.... any ideas or has anyone else the same problem? -
Volvo air conditioning 4 Sep 2001 (Forum)
Can anyone recommend any non franchised garages in the Worcester/S Midlands area who either specialise in Volvos or air conditioning? I have a Volvo 850 that needs a complete a/c system - £1100 at the Volvo dealer for an evaporator, condensor and a/c radiator. Surely I can get this done cheaper. -
Mercedes E -Class paint problems 1 Sep 2001 (Forum)
This is a "take it or leave it" from M-B, NOT negotiable. You cant even get to speak to anyone about it. All this is reminiscent of 1970's British Leyland/Fiat rustbuckets. Barry Brandon -
Cavalier Success 13 Aug 2001 (Forum)
Just returned from a two week tour of France. For reasons too complicated to explain, we ended up taking my wife?s Cavalier (1994, 90K bought for £1,700 about a year ago). It gave faultless service, accommodated four adults and luggage with ease, was smooth and comfortable, had adequate performance and achieved about 37mpg. -
Vectra - Uncomfortable or what ? 30 Apr 2001 (Forum)
Also they have as much grip as a well greased 3 legged pig on an ice rink covered in marbles. and finally they crumple like paper when involved in collisions with a Datsun Bluebird of 1970's origin. anyone care to inform us of other "Characteristics" of this lovely vehicle ? -

What's the best diesel for low mileage? 13 Sep 2016 (Ask HJ)
