Irish plates 27 Jul 2004 (Forum)
I know I shouldn't give the plate out but it begins VJI and then end which 4 numbers. I'm sure this means something to someone. Is it the region in Ireland? The age? It's not important I'm just interested to know. Many thanks Adam -

better than telly 27 Oct 2003 (Forum)
For at least 2 years I have been enjoying this Site, and now realise it has become an important part of my life's entertainment (as well as being highly informative). In fact, I now watch far less TV and often prefer my PC screen. Wonder how many other BRs have seen their habits change? And which (printable) ones? -
Interest free HP 3 Oct 2002 (Forum)
It may not be much of a car, and it might not be worth much after 5 years, but it is cheap so far as monthly payments go. Is the same deal likely to be available in the South-East? Are these deals generated by the importers or the dealers? -
Warning light on MR2 23 May 2002 (Forum)
My Toyota MR2 (grey import) has a warning light on the dash which has started to come on quite frequently. It originally started lighting after about 15 miles, now after as little as 2 miles. The light looks a bit like an in-line fuel filter (sort of a square box with a straight pipe on either side), and has heat haze lines above it. -
VAG raises Dutch Prices to German Levels 6 May 2002 (Forum)
Am not running this as a news item until I get further confirmation, but this could mean the end for a lot of imports from Holland and Denmark. HJ -
yellow school buses 18 Mar 2002 (Forum)
There's been some discussion recently of reducing the school run traffic by introducing US style yellow school buses which would give a safe and convenient neighbourhood service. Great idea, but the other part of the US scheme doesn't seem ever to be mentioned and it's an important part. When a US school bus stops, traffic in both directions must stop as well - no vehice must drive past the bus. Can our drivers cope with that? -
Superchips - any good? 6 Mar 2002 (Forum)
Right, I've seen the Superchips website; it seems reasonable, and there are two agents not too far away. Reprogramming the computer seems to me to be quite plausibly a good thing, for a Jap import particularly running under UK conditions, but I do not want to spend good money just to blow up Toad! Please, can anybody give a report or an informed opinion, good or bad? (I think I am marginally on topic this time.) -
temperamentall tv stars 13 Feb 2002 (Forum)
In tonights episode of salvage squad Jerry threw his dolly out of the pram and walked out. However it was perhaps justified as it was a very important issue. He was painting the wrong shape moustache on the nose of the gyrocraft. The others objected on the principle that a restoration must folow the origional and Jerry was outvoted. Did I detect a directors hand in stage managing this or do the experts feel we were watching true life drama. -
Cheapest new car in Britain? 18 Nov 2001 (Forum)
Brand new Suzuki (I think it's the Alto, didn't have time for a close look) with decals all over it advertising an on the road price of £4444 from a local dealer. Three year / 60k warranty included, so I don't think it was an import. Puts it firmly in the old Yugo / Lada price bracket. Anyone know of anything cheaper? -
Civic vs Leon 3 Aug 2001 (Forum)
Primary requirements are:- -Build Quality/Durability -Economy -Purchase Price -Must be nice to drive I've narrowed my search down to a Honda Civic 1.6SE Exec and a Seat Leon 110TDi SE. I can get the Leon with leather etc. as an import for about £12500. I've seen the Civic for about £13000. Any comments on which is best? I'm particularly concerned about the long-term durability of the Civic. Thanks -
Ex Wd vehicles 30 Mar 2001 (Forum)
Landrovers etc. were built to a different spec. than the civilian equivelent, and that the overall quality would be lower as longevity wasn't important. The vehicles had to be reliable for a short time, and so 'sub standard' parts were acceptable. Is this true, and would it apply to an H.D. motorbike. -
Celica GT Import - Emissions Failure 2 May 2007 (Forum)
Hi guys. I don't know if anyone knows anything about Grey-imports and/or emissions diagostics can help with this ! My 1995 Celica GT Convertible has just failed its MOT on the emissions test .... The car is Jap-spec, and has the 175Bhp GT engine (but NOT a turbo) (I think the engine code is 3S-GE) I shall give you a run down of the saga I have been on today. -
Any - Mazda 3 v Civic 1.8 v Auris 1.2T 22 May 2017 (Forum)
I try to DIY as much a possible, so that's important, although will keep up any servicing until warranty is out. Then it's me and local indie. Of the cars, I'm thinking Mazda 3 as best driver's car, Auris as most boring but ok, with best warranty, Civic as best engine. -
All JDMS - UK partner wanted for export business 17 Jul 2016 (Forum)
I'm looking for someone in England (preferably) who would be interested in partnering with me in a import / export endeavor. I'm currently in Japan and have partnered up with a local who owns a JDM sports car chop shop and has been in the game for over 30 years. Not only this but he also has a wealth of experience exporting cars. -
Did changing a tap washer set you up for `life`? 3 Jul 2010 (Forum)
It was presented to us at school as the most important practical task that had to be mastered before leaving. And much to everyone`s amazement the school (famous for forcing you to write in Italic, and not start sentences with err `and`) produced an actual tap. -

Cars are different inside 17 Sep 2008 (Forum)
Some wise old car enthusiast once said in my presence that the outside appearance of a car was its least important feature. He proposed that it was how it felt and looked inside and indeed how well it drove that was the really important thing. I have to admit that I have in the past, spent hours agonising over colour, trim and model choices to get to my ideal outward appearance when choosing cars.
