  • Dilemma of dilemmas of dilemmas 2 Feb 2012 (Forum)
The Verso is no oil painting, but is it possible that in a further few years the estate would never attract a buyer, whereas young families are always looking for an MPV?? The Renault diesels don't look to have too many issues apart from keeping an eye on the EGR valve, but I've driven a Modus and I didn't much like: the driving position, the over-servoed brakes, the cable gearshift, and the feel-less electric steering.
  • Past quality 8 Feb 2022 (Forum)
The utter garbage that Mercedes have built since disgraces the name. Today’s A class with its elderly Renault van motor is a shocking was to waste £30k plus. The 6cyl 3.0 non-turbocharged diesel was slow but impossible to kill, many a German taxi driver had a million miles plus up on these and the glacial 2.0 diesels they had access to.
  • 2500 miles per month. £2500. Diesel? Petrol? LPG? 1 Jan 2017 (Forum)
    6) Hyundai i30/Kia Cee'd with the 1.6 crdi (if I can find one) 7) 2005 Honda Civic Executive 1.6 VTEC Petrol (To LPG) 8) Auris 1.33 vvt-i For what I read I should stay clear of pretty much every make that uses a PSA derived engine so No Mazda, Ford, Peugeout, Citroen and some Volvos. I should also stay clear of Renault and also stay clear of any make using Fiat derived engines so no Saabs, 1.9cdti Vauxhalss, Fiats, or Alfas. Finally I would like to have an opinion on the current state of affairs about LPG.
  • Mercedes Benz CLK W208 (1997 - 2002) - Advice on dealin with bad service from dealer 9 Jun 2008 (Forum)
t make that presumption myself! So the car is there now, incidentally the courtesy car is a state, it is 56 Renault Clio, service warning light is on, airbag warning light is on, the vehicle is filthy, with no water in the windscreen washer, and an empty fuel tank. So advice from the forum members would be much appreciated as to what my rights are here and what my reasonable expectations should be Guy
  • Postcard from Moscow 29 Jun 2005 (Forum)
The Moscow Times yesterday reported Toyota investing US$140 million at a plant to be built near St Petersburg, with Ford already building the Focus, Renault their CEE market bargain basement models, and GM some Chevrolet cheapies in and around St Petersburg and Moscow. A few pages later, the subject turned to whether it will be sustainable growth for all (?
  • We need a large MPV, but do low mileage - what do you recommend? 1 Jan 2018 (Ask HJ)
We have four children and are struggling with our Citroen C4 Grand Picasso. We need a secondhand replacement with space and a decent boot, so very few...
  • Can you help me prepare for a court case regarding my purchase of a faulty Ford Focus? 6 Sep 2010 (Ask HJ)
I am about to go to Small Claims Court on the 21 September and I am terrified. I feel there is a claim to be heard. It started last August when I purchased...
  • 3 years with a Jazz CVT 29 Aug 2020 (Forum)
The i30 we had before certainly wasn't a big car, but on our narrow street with cars parked on both sides of the road, it might as well have been American!. And with cars in all classes getting fatter and fatter (current Renault Clio is more than 10cm wider than the Jazz (and is also wider than a Golf)), its good to se that Honda have stuck with the overall dimensions of 'our' Jazz (and the previous gen) for the new one (the Yaris was another contender when we got the Jazz, but the iminent all new one is both lower and wider, boo!).
  • Buying a new car 22 Dec 2013 (Forum)
I wanted to see what most of the manufacturers had to offer so went about booking test drives with as many as possible over the school summer holidays. There were a few manufacturers that I wanted to avoid, but not many. Renault I decided would be one of them as I had seen a programme on TV about what it took to change a front light bulb in their cars. It involved removing the front wheel and arch lining, sod that.   The first car that I tested was a Ford Fiesta , I had heard a lot about the drivability of these and I tried the 1.0 Ecoboost engine.
  • Cheaper than cycling - Recommended to Merc owner 27 Apr 2013 (Forum)
Or Datcha as they insist on calling it in the TV ads. I know it’s the Romanian pronunciation but since when did that count? British Renault ads don’t say the company name as if it’s spoken entirely with the nostrils. Day five: The squeaky clutch is getting on my nerves. I find some WD40 and give the pedal mechanism a squirt.
  • My 1st month, 3300 miles, with an S-Max 1 Aug 2007 (Forum)
It is huge. It is both longer and wider than the old Galaxy/Sharan (as well as the Citroen C8/Pug 807 and Renault Espace). This car is a full size MPV that has just been ?styled?. The roof slopes down at the back and that means that the rear 2 seats don?t? have the same room as the full sized MPV?s mentioned above.
