Toyota RAV4 D4D XTR - Transmission noise problems in first gear 20 Sep 2018 (Forum)
Shortly after getting the car I noticed that when changing down into first gear, when coasting in first gear and when driving slowly in first gear prior to stopping there are clattering/clunking noises from the transmission. These occur under certain conditions when the clutch is depressed when in first gear. It is particularly noticeable and irritating when driving in stop/start traffic. -
Ford Fiesta Zetec 1.25 2014 - Secondhand Fiesta - Clutch problems? 5 Sep 2018 (Forum)
The indicator screen on the dash also kept suggesting a higher gear was needed. We’re talking 3rd whilst crawling and 4th whilst driving at 30mph, 5th for 40mph, etc. Please help! It doesn’t feel quite right and I’m not sure whether or not to return to the dealership tomorrow to get it checked? -
Suzuki Swift 2017 - Early oil change light 30 Apr 2018 (Forum)
I nipped in to the dealer who said the service guys had gone home for xmas but all that needed doing is to reset the oil change counter as it must have been set incorrectly and that the car was fine to drive until I could pop in between xmas and new year. I thought this could have made sense at the time as it was three months to the day since I took delivery so it could have been set improperly then. -
Skoda Superb - Second Hand 31 Dec 2017 (Forum)
Hi, I’m looking for a second hand large family car. I don’t do a lot of miles, it’s mostly for driving away on weekends. Some long trips but no commuting. I do less than 10,000 miles per year. Currently I have a Nissan Almera Tino automatic that I really like but probably needs a new timing chain so likely to be getting rid. -

Sedona LX 2902cc 16v manual diesel, on a '52 plat - Kia Sedona: Intermittent Massive fuel leak 21 Jul 2017 (Forum)
The problem is a major fuel leak. If I start the car from cold and look underneath - no leak. Drive to the shop and back - no leak. Drive around afternoon on low revs - no leak Get her on the dual carriageway properly warmed up - with some RPM and a slight hill, the 'teapot' ( malfunction Indicator ) lights up on the dash. -
Review: Mio MiVue 688 dash camera 23 May 2017 (Forum)
Although I'm not sure if touch screen on the 658 is a good idea as it may be tempting to fiddle with when driving. In any case, there is a warning telling you not to fiddle with such devices when driving. Unfortunately after a couple of days of use the device froze and would not switch off. I wrote an email to Mitac and got a superfast response. -
BMW X3 M Sport X Drive Auto - Parrot Kit affecting Rear Reverse Camera 19 May 2017 (Forum)

Vauxhall Corsa C - Hissing sound under the bonnet 18 Dec 2016 (Forum)
The engine check light has come on as of today and luckily enough the garage that I got it from is willing to sort it out for me. Is it something I could fix myself though? The car drives fine. Many thanks! -
Which car has SWMBO chosen? 13 Dec 2016 (Forum)
We've come to realise that SWMBO's Mini Cooper Roadster, good car that it is in its own right, isn't ideal for what we need it for in semi-retirement in Dorset. What we need now for a second car is: - Small, nippy, easy to park and fun to drive on local journeys (mostly between 4 and 10 miles each way) but also with a big enough engine with sufficient oomph to hit the A303 and motorways (she is still doing some Reading-based work although most is from home) - Up to £20,000 - Petrol, manual - 5 doors (this is a friendly village community and people give each other lifts, and she doesn't like driving my automatic Volvo) - Satnav, lumbar support, heated front seats and a spare wheel, although we don't mind if these are options. -
Vauxhall Zafira B - AF40 locking into 2nd gear 2 Jul 2016 (Forum)
When the car is travelling at about 40+ mph, it has not issues. But when driving for about 20 mins and getting stuck in traffic for about 5mins, the gearbox locks into 2nd gear and the engine, ABS, traction, battery lights come on, the revs need keeps dropping and the gear postion shows -- instead of P 1 2 3 etc... -
VW Golf Mk6 - Cruise control problem 15 Jun 2016 (Forum)
Symptoms started with the exclamation mark being displayed in the MFD when the cabin of the vehicle was hot (parked in the sun). After a few minutes of driving and a lot of the heat gone, the CC would work. It started to get a lot worse last summer and I sent the car in to VW, who replaced the stalk. This didn't fix the problem so it went back and they replaced it again. -
Avant help please 8 Apr 2016 (Forum)
A 2011 A 180 is available with 34,000 on the clock from main dealer : full service history etc. Should I be concerned by the low mileage ? Also I do like a reasonably quiet drive. However long a test drive it is not the same as having it for while. I am aware we all have different tolerances. Avant, was it the drone of the CVT or noise from diesel that was too much ? -
Xsara Picasso 2007 Petrol 1.6 - whining noise 12 Mar 2016 (Forum)
When I start the engine there's this whining noise which also happens (louder when I accelerate) when I'm driving. I've put up with it as the car seems to be driving ok. That was until friday when an RAC patrolman was called out for another problem but noticed the whining noise. He looked under the bonnect and checked the pulleys and p/steering fluid and they were fine. -
Peugeot 406 2.0. Hdi fuel consumption 29 Dec 2015 (Forum)
I have confirmed thes figures with brim to brim fill ups and they are pretty well correct. The new one drives perfectly with no smoke, hesitiation or any other hints of a problem and sounds sweet as a nut. I live in a rural area and generally only drive at a steady 60 mph avoiding hard acceleration, my son went to Cornwall in it on Saturday and it returned 45 mpg, I have done the same journey in the old one and always get 60+, my son has a heavier foot and doesnt do as well but he still gets mid '50s. -
renault traffic 2015 - compensation for repeatedly broken new van 14 Dec 2015 (Forum)
2nd question relates to the master cylinder failure, I reported it to renault straight away and they sent the rac to inspect it who confirmed the fault was the master cylinder but as the vehicle was drivable they wouldn't recover it even though j advised them it was burning badly on drive, it then stunk and smoked the whole way to the dealership, (good 70 miles drive) but there now saying if 5 here's no sign of slippage once the master cylinder is replaced then the clutch will not be changed, this will effect the life of the clutch though so how can they do this?? -
Ford Mondeo 2.0 Diesel 2005 55000 miles - Glow Plug Light Flashing/Engine Cutting out 27 Oct 2015 (Forum)
This is a word of warning for those people thinking of buying a used Mondeo 2.0 diesel TDCI. Take it for a long test drive, at least 45mins. Ensure that once its properly warmed up - take it down the motorway or similar and drive at a constant 70+ mph for at least 10 mins. If the orange glow plug light comes on (looks like a coiled spring) then DON'T buy it. -

What 7 seater will suit me? 28 Jun 2015 (Forum)
I know that a Ford Galaxy powershift and Seat Alhambra DSG would fit the bill but as I don't need 6/7 seats that much I don't really want a car that large to drive all the time. Any suggestions, especially ones based on your own experience, would be welcome.
