• Citroen c3 1.4hdi - Poor starting 16 Oct 2011 (Forum)
  The started motor is turning over, when you just about give up you hear a clunck under your left foot and then the car starts and runs great, no loss of power. Pulls away ok. If you restart the engine while warm is starts no problem. I have checked the low pressure fuel pipes, replaced the spill pipes and injector clips. It looks like I am getting air in to the diesel or it waits until it has built up pressure before it will start.

  I was driving it home last night and my girlfriend was behind me and i noticed the car was blowing dark smoke (not blue) when the turbo came on boost. no smoke on normal running, only when on boost. i also noticed the fuel gauge has dropped a bit more than it should... im hoping its not the turbo, ive heard it could be injector seals.... one person has told me just to put an injector cleaner through it, not sure that will help...

  the car then starts to overheat on any climbs jumping up to around 80 deg, we then turn the heater on and temp starts to drop. The vehicle is fine running around town and in standing traffic with the van on the back or not. its not losing any coolent and i've had it on tick over on the drive and have witnessed the fan dropping in and and out.. but i understand they have a 2 speed fan , is there anyway of checking that the speed 2 is working correctly??

  I'm looking for some advice. I currently run a 2003 Mondeo LX 1.8 and I am looking to downsize to something like a Ford Focus or a Hyundai I30.  For approximately the same money I can get a Ford Focus 1.6 Style 2008 plate or a Hyundai 1.4 Classic 2011 plate having done 10-15k mileage.

  I run a 1986 Ford USA F250 truck with a 6.9 Diesel V8. The truck already has 2 separate diesel tanks and is not of course common rail. It is therefore suitable for a Veg Oil ' conversion ' , however had a company doing these telling me that I cannot convert whilst on the factory issue ' Stanadyne ' Injection Pump , I would need another make like a Bosch or others .

  Ive got a ford mondeo 53 reg 130bhp tdci. It wont start of its own accord, it needs a very quick sniff of ether to get going. Once running its fine, injectors and pump have been stripped and tested twice to find all is well. Its had different rail sensors etc but all the same.  Can anyone confirm which sensor is required for the initial starting, crank or cam?

  I put it on charge for a couple of hours, started ok, but the next day same problem so jump started it and went for a run of 100 miles or more. Next day NO Start!! I can't believe that for no apparent reason and in 'summer time' the battery should fail. I measured the charging voltage at just over 14volts, so I think that should be OK.

  . - must be lots of them about - is the turbo fragile? Anyone experienced failures? Its seems to me that its only just run in - now returns 40mpg regularly - or am i just deluded? Incidentally its never been anywhere near a VAG dealership- sourced in Holland and maintained indepently - this is the way forwards I recon

  My car just overheated on me and I had to be 'recovered' back to my house. When I got out the car I left the engine running and looked at the radiator fans - the right hand one was not spinning. When I got home ran the car to the point where the fans kick in and again only the left ran. The left fan can be freely spun when not in operation while the right cannot - it feels seized.

  I have tried 2 different batteries but still had the same problem. I have checked the power coming into the battery when the engine is running and I get over 14 volts. Does anybody know how I could check the system to see if some thing is draining the battery or any other suggestions would be very welcome. Thanks

  I have a 2008 model petrol Ford Focus. It's due for its 3 year servicing. It has run 23000 miles. An independent mechanic has been highly recommended to me. However this mechanic is a mobile mechanic.  He doesn't have a service station. He comes to the customer's home and services the car there.

  Due to a mishap and without comprehensive insurance I have rebuilt my Kawasaki bike ZX12R Model A1. It's now running beautifully BUT the battery is not charging.  It holds a charge and will jump start.  A lot of the parts I bought were 2nd hand, but I could not get a generator for this model so fitted a generator, alternator and alternator cover form a later model - Model B.

  Hi all, first time here but hoping i can get a solution. I have an old company car that is used by various staff for running around and the last member of staff who i had to sack decided to return the car with all of the vacuum pipes disconnected inside the engine bay. The car needless to say limps along but has no guts.
• Volkswagen Golf IV (1998 - 2004) - 02 1.9 150 PD ARL injectors 15 May 2011 (Forum)
  i am in need of an injector for a golf gt tdi 150 pd (ARL engine), took my car into the garage as it was seriously misfiring and juddering, especially when it reached 3000rpm (wont go past this most times) and would just throw out smoke. He changed the injectors twice but both used parts failed and now i am running the same one i had problems with. So can anyone suggest any places i can get the above injector from, either used or reconditioned??? thanks in advance

  Hi injection doc and any1 else who reads this  I have a tired 1997 R reg 2.0 Zetec Mondeo and the diff is shot also but cars in mint condition so I bought a cheap crashed damaged doner 1997 2.0 Mondeo and the engine and box are low mileage and running mint I just need to know if when I change engine over do I also need to use the ECU from the doner car as well  thanks in advance for any info given kind regards to all Neil.

  It will bump start and jump start eventualy, the battery has also been checked and that is ok too. the last time it started there was thick black smoke coming out of the exhaust, could this be a clue? once car has been started it runs fine and will start for the day but the next day it turns over but does not start. please any suggestions would be great :0) xxxxxxxx

  Hi all new here, Got a problem with my vectra it was running fine and now it wont start i have a full tank of diesel and  battery ok.I have checked for fuel to injectors. When i try to start it, it just turns over but then tries to fire but just wont catch. i have had the rac to with diagnostics and it came up with camshaft position fault at bank 1 or single sensor error code P0340 & P1222 they told me the injector pump was the fault so i have had that checked and everything is ok with it.i have also had new leakoff pipes on.

  Be grateful for any help.  About to but a car for my wife to run around in - she will probably do about 10000 miles a year and use it mostly for ferrying our 2 grandchildren around.  Have a bit of a quandry - she really likes the new shape Fiesta and the Mini Cooper and can't make up her mind which one to go with - she has driven both and lkes them both !!!

    Car stared ok and ran smoothly without misfire or displaying any engine management lights.  Car now starts cold ok and runs fine but when hot starting it requires cranking over for about 10 - 15 seconds before it will fire. Not sure what damage I may have done, can anyone help?

  Hi, i have recently bought a focus tdci, which some one has changed the engine in and its not run since. im not sure if they changed the complete engine inc pump/ injectors ect ect or just added the old bits on, whats the best way to go about sorting this problem? Are the pumps coded?
