  • Renault Clio (1998 R) Alarm problem 21 Jun 2007 (Forum)
I started off again and carried on driving, and no problem. Naturally however, I wonder if this is a symptom of something more troublesome - the previous owner of the car, who I know to be trustworthy had not said that the car had any persistent faults.
  • A weekend in Luxembourg 30 May 2007 (Forum)
Return of the Pink Panther, Garfield 2 and Around The World in 80 Days, resulted in hoots of laughter from the back throughout the drive and never once did I get 'are we nearly there yet?' Driving on the continent is definitely for me.
  • Suzuki Swfit at 5000 miles & 7 months 30 Dec 2006 (Forum)
Sister has been highly delighted with the car. It is used daily for short runs in suburban/rural driving. Not usually more than about 6 miles, but occassional runs of 50+ miles. I drove the car recently and the engine has loosened up remarkably - very punchy in 2nd gear which will carry you from 5mph-40mph very swiftly.
  • Chrysler 300C - Volume 1 16 Mar 2006 (Forum)
Unfortunately, it was a model with the silly big wheels, small tyres that seem to be the fashion these days. The choppiness they induced was a bit irritating, but that apart, it was a pleasant drive. On the motorway and the car was in its element. Breezing along at...70...was effortless and noise free. Onto country roads, and while I wouldn't want to race anyone in it, it was surprisingly easy to drive.
  • Court summons 2 Dec 2005 (Forum)
In June she allowed her then boyfriend (now ex)to use her car to get to work while his car was off the road. He was not named on her policy, but assured her that he was covered to drive her car by virtue of his own policy (presumably the usual clause in fully comp policies allowing one to drive another car belonging to someone else as long as it is insured...) He got stopped (don't know why) and given a producer.
  • Executive diesel automatic saloon 9 Jun 2005 (Forum)
The frontrunner for now is probably the Audi A6 but I need to know if the gearbox is the naff VAG autobox or the Audi Multitronic? Also am strongly looking at the BMW 320d auto but all my driving is motorway so I feel I'd be buying a needlessly well-handling car - rear wheel drive is irrelevant to me (I used to have a 330d manual and it was wasted on me) Cheers Rich
  • Citroen C8 Burning Smell 22 Dec 2004 (Forum)
Aux-Heater not working properly. Don't have much of a clue what this is. v. Motors that drive the electric sliding doors are not switching off properly. We are about to head down the M4 to Wales for Xmas so we'll see what happens. Any further info I find out I will post here but if anyone has any thoughts, ideas, answers, etc. they would be gratefully recieved.

  • Cutting congestion 26 Apr 2003 (Forum)
I think some form of self control is required. Driving can be a pleasure but increasingly it's a real pain in the bum. How much clearer our roads would be if everyone in a position to do so decided to use their 2 feet a bit more or, God forbid, even the bus occasionally.
  • Anger Management 30 Dec 2002 (Forum)
There have been a few threads recently that have created some debate of how the driving habits of some other road users annoy fellow back roomers. I didn't agree with all the opinions but I was happy to enter into the debate and state my views, even if I was a little blunt. Without wishing to sound sanctemonious (I don't know if I can even spell it), I would be interested to hear others' views.
  • mobiles and driving 4 Dec 2001 (Forum)
Hi folks not posted for a while so thought I would relay the good news story of the day, for me anyway. Im not one to make calls on the mobile in general when driving, but crossing the M62 to Manchester at 06:30 on the way to work this morning, (Frost in Huddersfield so used the car and not the Blackbird) I was behind an Escort type van. I was braking but still catching it up and cars in front had their brake lights on.
  • My Toyota Prius Review 7 Sep 2011 (Forum)
Ive never driven anything electric or hybrid before so i was taken aback when i started it and was silent, i thought i'd broken it. But panic over we began to move. The drive The drive was to be a 140 mile round trip taking in dual carraigeway and mixed outskirts and town driving, an ideal test then for the real world fuel economy of the Prius, supposedly its big selling point.
  • Mazda 6 Tourer - Please help.. Mazda 6 2.2 diesel mpg mega issue 18 Feb 2022 (Forum)
My partner and I are the adventurous type, a 6 hour drive in of a Saturday is the normal to us, we also don't live anywhere near our family so regardless of who's family we visit they are at least an hour and a half drive away. My daily commute to work is also a half hour motorway/a road drive each way.

  • Switzerland - E-Vignette 21 Apr 2025 (Forum)
Just about to plan a visit to see one of youngroverbelles and found this. handy to get in advance although strictly speaking I could manage without it crossing at La Cure and only driving down to Versoix. easier to use public transport on a day pass.   https://www.ch.ch/en/travel-and-emigrate/holidays-in-switzerland/how-to-behave-in-road-traffic/motorway-vignette/
  • Citroen C1 2011 - Is the clutch going? 8 Apr 2025 (Forum)
Hi my son has a Citroen c1 2011, it has a high bite point and my husband put it in 4th gear the other day. ( It was parked on drive) And took his foot off the clutch and the car didn't stall. Hubby said he thinks clutch is on its way. Any thoughts appreciated ??  Thanks Julie
  • What is your view on overtaking on the left? 13 Mar 2025 (Forum)
Lots of nonsense gets taken about this on Reddit and other driving forums. The highway code is pretty clear but people don't get it. I was hoping to get the views of posters here. Do you think it's fine as long as you don't change lanes? Fine as long as you're maintaining speed and passing a MLH?
  • Octavia vRS - Octavia vRS questions 20 Oct 2022 (Forum)
I'm looking for a fun to drive family car with room for a rear facing child seat and boot space. I've found some Octavia vRS in my price range that are 15/16 plates with around 50k miles on. Would this car fit the bill and are they expensive to run/repair/maintain?
