  • Rythm is gonna get you 28 Sep 2002 (Forum)
Scenario : Lovely sunny day, decide to go for a drive in the country and hot diggedy dog! no traffic! What's playing on your Radio/CD/Tape/MD/MP3/DAB/LP/Wax disc? Me? "18" by Moby, rather too loud or some shoe staring music from the early 90s Lee.
  • Toyota Mastersurf. Any good ???? 26 Jun 2002 (Forum)
Does anyone have any first hand experience of one of these ? 1994 'L', low mileage. It all sounds really good. 2.4 turbo diesel, 4 wheel drive (switchable), air con, swivel seats, seats 8, comes with a warranty etc... Or are there any known troublespots with these. Any advice would be most grateful.
  • Cavalier Auto - Vibration 25 Jun 2002 (Forum)
There is a noticeable amount of vibration when the car is idling - the effect is more obvious when the autobox is in drive. It has over 100k on the clock. When the RPM is above 1000 the car is extremely smooth and there are no other problems. Is this normal for an older auto, or if not, any ideas what could dampen it down a bit?
  • L plates forever on 125cc bike??? 16 Jun 2002 (Forum)
I have had a car licence since 1967 which says it's a provisional up to 125 cc. If I use it with L plates, (and no passenger)can I drive it forever, or has the law changed?

  • In Car TV / Video 18 Apr 2002 (Forum)
My local Barber has just demonstrated his in Car TV/Video system to me, it slots into the dashboard in place of the usual radio, it is a fantastic system no doubt but. He says he has it on all the time while he is driving ........... Surely it is illegal to watch a tv in a moving car ? And if so why is such a device on sale ? Marcus ( Luddite )
  • In the UK next month... 2 Apr 2002 (Forum)
    1) Must be available from one of the big rental companies 2) Have some respect - not a Fiat Uno or something (I am willing to accept bribes from car manufacturer's who would prefer I did not drive one of their vehicles).
  • Seat Leon 1.9Tdi SE 4 Mar 2002 (Forum)
Im thinking of getting one of these diesels Leons and have checked HJ's test drive reports for info. Has anyone who has a new one any thoughts on the car, good or bad, they would like to share? Any info on the diesel, including the chipped 140 bhp from Europe would be appreciated.
  • normal tyre wear? 1 Jan 2002 (Forum)

  • Brake Fluid change 15 Nov 2001 (Forum)
I have a Focus tdi Zetec, with ABS, just coming up to 2yrs old & 30k miles. I drive quite a lot on urban roads, but am fairly light on the brakes - still comfortably on my 1st set of pads. When do you experts recommend that I renew my brake fluid ? Thanks in advance :-)
  • 40 years on.. 15 Oct 2001 (Forum)
Does anyone want to share reminiscences about student transport? I was thinking about Swansea in the early 60's, we were driving around in a Jaguar SS 100,(£80) Fiat Topolino, Austin Big 12 Convertible,(£45) etc, all bought for a song and taken for granted at the time..talk about 'wasted on the young'! • Citroen Synergie 18 Feb 2001 (Forum)
I have a '96 Synergie 1.9 diesel which the whole family loves as long as they don't have to drive. We can live with the handling, but it could do with much more power (why didn't citroen fit the 12-valve turbo-diesel from the XM?). We will be keeping it for a while yet. Anyone any ideas about tuning?
  • Mazda 6 Tourer - Please help.. Mazda 6 2.2 diesel mpg mega issue 18 Feb 2022 (Forum)
My partner and I are the adventurous type, a 6 hour drive in of a Saturday is the normal to us, we also don't live anywhere near our family so regardless of who's family we visit they are at least an hour and a half drive away. My daily commute to work is also a half hour motorway/a road drive each way.
  • Dacia Sandero essential - Dacia Sandero many warning lights on dash 31 May 2025 (Forum)
2 years ago I turned my car on and  I got a load of warning lights coming on one after the other so I waited before driving anywhere and then the power totally went.  *CHECK BREAKING SYSTEM *CHECK POWER STREERING  *CHECK FRONT RADAR *CHECK HILL START ASSIST *CHECK PTE *CHECK ESC And there was a exclamation mark in a horse show symbol in orange.
  • Mazda 3 - £12-15k reliable and comfortable daily 11 Sep 2024 (Forum)
Hi, currently looking for an upgrade to my current car, a 2009 Ibiza.  Will be doing 30 minute motorway commutes and usual town driving a few times a week as well. My priorities are comfort and reliability, and budgeting £12-15k. Would want an automatic considering a lot of time is spent in rush hour traffic. Considerations Ive made so far Mazda 3 (2019+): seems to get very frequently suggested on other sites; I really like its looks as well as interior with physical controls.
  • How many miles will a Routemaster bus have done? 23 Aug 2024 (Forum)
This is one of the 40mph models - apparently a few examples built for the Gatwick run had a much higher final drive ratio and could exceed 60! - although I levelled out at around 34mph due to the incredible noise from the engine some 12" from my left elbow. They don't have odometers, so.. how many miles is a RM likely to have covered since it was built?
  • Volkswagen Sharan - Buying used car - sufficient power? 16 Aug 2024 (Forum)
It's a big and heavy car (google says 1750 kg) and I'm aware that there is a move away from diesel...which leaves us with the 1.4L petrol engine.    Driving wise, we live in a city but cycle as much as we can (taking the kids to school, getting to work), but do make the occasional city trip. Otherwise, we drive further afield (1.5 hours or so) every couple of weekends and have intentions to do European road trips for holidays.
  • Automatic Family Car 21 Apr 2024 (Forum)
We also semi-regularly drive to places in the UK and France, and so something that can handle carting around child paraphernalia and luggage would be ideal. Realistically I don't want to spend more than 15k, especially with the baby guaranteed to up costs.
  • Honda Civic - Honda Civic vs Audi A4 15 Sep 2023 (Forum)
Reliability obviously is a key factor, as well as economy. Comfort is great, but lower priority, good driving experience, well... I'm not sure if it'll get any worse than my brilliant fiesta mk7. With me driving mainly around town, and otherwise short trips; with annual mileage around 5-7k, I was looking for a car and been strongly recommended a petrol engine.
  • Daihatsu Charade (2003 - 2006) - 03 1.0 Cutting out randomly 21 Aug 2023 (Forum)
Our 2003 Charade has cut out three times in the last week while driving. Unfortunately I have not experienced this first hand - all three times it's happened when my OH was driving. The first two times it happened were at low speed - once going round a roundabout and once in a housing estate.
